Check the sideboard to make changes according to which matchups you are playing against.
Since the meta is FULL of token druids and tempo rogues. Removing the late game package (Oondasta, Amani War Bear, Betrug, Plot Twist) and adding defensive tools (CHECK SIDEBOARD) and a Rafaam to fill the late game package is very recommended.
I will change the list SOON (according to our meta, but I will write in sideboard options for other metas).
Combos:
- Ancient Watcher + Ratcatcher, Sunfury Protector, Shadowflame.
- Oondasta summoning Amani War Bear from your hand.
- Fel Lord Betrug + Plot Twist
- Sense Demons: filtering and healing for free (Aranasi Broodmother) and buying Lord Jaraxxus and Fel Lord Betrug
- Fel Lord Betrug + Plot Twist: putting a Oondasta in field that kills an enemy and summons a Oondasta from hand that kills another enemy and summons a Amani War Bear from hand (this is just a possible combo, the deck doesnt really need it to work)
- Faceless Rager + Big Health Minion, Shadowflame
Winconditions:
- In general: Mountain Giant and Twilight Drake .
- Against aggro: AOE, low cost minions and taunts.
- Against control: Lord Jaraxxus (infinite value).
- Against combo: Be agressive. but if you encounter a lot of combo decks you need to check the sideboard.
Sideboard:
- Mortal Coil,Doomsayer Belligerent Gnome, Swamp Ooze, Demonic Project, Spirit Bomb, Ironbreak Owl, Shadow Bolt, Earthen Ring Farseer, Defenser of Argus , Proud Defender, Omega Agent, Zilliax, Rotten Applebaum,Unseen Saboteur, Siphon Soul, Arcane Watcher( I dont recommend using arcane watcher over the ancient watcher, If you want to use both you should also use argus), Arch-Villain Rafaam (rafaam is amazing).
- PAY ATTENTION: If you are playing against lots of aggressive decks, you should add defensive cards from the sideboard (zilliax, earthen ring, mortal coil, doomsayer, +1 belligerent gnome etc...)
Notes about some cards:
- Sense Demons: This cards sinergizes pretty well with the deck, you call the Aranasi Broodmother for free heal or you buy two super important cards ( Lord Jaraxxus and Fel Lord Betrug.
- Belligerent Gnome: This card is an amazing option for the early game survival. Against aggro, this card is even better than Vulgar Homunculus, since we cant use the spellstone or the dk in the year of dragon.
- Ratcatcher: A great tempo card and increases your options with Ancient Watcher, killing enemy key minions and controlling the board.
- Oondasta + Amani War Bear: good neutral tempo play
- Plot Twist: good warlock card to get the cards that you want when u dont have them in hand and we are using a good deck that plot twist fits. An additional combo with It is reshuffling an Aranasi Broodmother to get extra heal in future, Its not amazing but also possible.
- Lord Jaraxxus: a key if you want to beat control matchups, this card has infinite value.
- Arch-Villain Rafaam: Extra value in late game and can be sometimes a good taunt against aggros. If you are playing against many aggros, you should replace the betrug, oondasta pack and plot twist by this card plus defensive tools.
0-10 never got to turn 10 lets go!
You HAVE to make the replacements that I have said in the start of the guide, they are necessary in this meta. Betrug+plot twist and oondasta pack are bad at this moment.
As I lack Oondasta and Betrug, I changed a bit of the cards for better sustainability. Zilliax is must have currently, this card is just amazing. Doomsayer is also really good as it serves as 7+ hp heal or removal. I guess I kinda changed it to the vanilla control Warlock, but hey, it works! Got also rid of plot hole, too many aggro
Yes, you are 100% right. In the start of the guide I have suggested doing this (removing the oondasta, betrug, amani and plot twist and adding defensive tools and rafaam) because of this meta right now and I just havent done this yet on the main deck because I will wait the meta to estabilish.
I get absolutely destroyed early to mid game.
So as I has said in the guide, you should make changes according to your matchups. You can add mortal coil, zilliax, earthen ring farseer, one more belligerent gnome. doomsayers ... If aggros are your problem. you can also easily remove the late game package: Betrug, Oondasta, amani bear and plot twist. If you remove this package, you must add a Rafaam, his great body with taunt is a good tempo play that also generates lots of value.
interesting observation about Betrug: when you draw and summon minions during you opponent's turn, they don't die.
pretty decent deck, i'm really glad to use it. My one and only modification on it was to move on from Doomsayers and put in 2 Swamp Ooze, 'cuz that new "bomber warrior" just kills this handlock, if there is no card against the warriors weapon. Against academic espionage is it the same.
You are 100% right. Both control and bomb warrior use weapons that we REALLY want to break.
I've always been a big fan of Handlock and this version seems interesting. I would almost surely cut Oondasta as the only two beasts in the deck are the Amani War Bear's which would probably also be cut if the Oondasta wasn't here. I'll keep experimenting with it, thanks for the deck!
thanks for the feedback. I actually hadnt tested Oondasta yet (I had spent my dust in other legendaries, since Oondasta is not a must have in any deck[even this one]), but I am going to test it soon. The deck had performed well without the oondasta, but Betrug becomes much weaker since we lose 3 good bodies.
I love the Portuguese Jaraxxus text in the image :P
hahah I had to put my favorite card in my native language
I think you can add Zilliax and Earthen Ring Farseer o play better against aggro decks
Yes. I put Zilliax in sideboard because If the meta become very aggro you should use him. Earthen Ring Farseer is also 100% viable.
Been playing around with idea of Eleek/plot twist/leeroy combo. You could essentially get infinite leeroys to spring out of your deck with no whelps. potential win condition there.
Wow, that is a pretty cool combo and just need 1 eleek to work (with betrug and shuffling 3 leeroys). This is definitely a cool win condition against slower decks, being almost an OTK. The only bad part is that you need to use plot twist when you have one more plot twist in hand and you need to have few cards in deck to certify that when u use the plot twist you get an other plot twist and the leeroy on hand. The combo seems good because also doesnt even need the betrug to work, having a lot of charge guys to finish the game with the only drawback of summoning some 1/1 is good.
Awesome - best plot twist deck I've seen yet. A lot are relying on discard element (shriek etc) to make up for AoE. Ancient watcher + shadowflame = much better choice. Watcher great idea with sunfury and ratcatcher synergy too. Wonder if Oodesta + warbeast would be too random to work. Great backbone though. Ratcatcher may finally see some play with Betrug in the mix.
Thanks for the feedback, dude. I think I agree about Oondasta + warbeast: at first I though in a secondary win condition and at the same time a good tempo play. However, after checking some streamers, some of them said that oondasta really needs more beasts to work, so Im thinking in adding at least one more big beast (like the 3/12 taunt) or removing this beast package and searching for a equivalent value/tempo package (however I still believe in the oondasta pack).
