I've been having some success with this burgle rogue deck on ladder. This deck resembles basic burgle rogue decks, however i put in a solid pirate package thanks to hooktusk. The burgle and pirate interactions dont play off eachother perfectly, however the combination of playing hooktusk and tess only a turn or two apart has insane value. Meanwhile you want to equip and buff a spectral cutlass that will allow you to go infinite.
Mulligan: Never keep any of the pirates except hooktusk. Ideally you want to be able to have spectral cutlass up ASAP.
General Tips:
Typically i will lab recruit either a ticket scalper or south sea captain a turn or two before hook tusk to ensure there is enough value when it is played.
Know when to swap between tempo pirate synergy you have until your hand and weapon is setup enough to coast on the burgle value. hooktusk can be played multiple times with this deck, however typically i try to save resources to do this for tess instead, as the late game value is much more.
Forgive my poor proof reading. Leave any comments or suggestions below.
Sorry, but it's a bad deck. I've tried it many times because I love spectral cultass and thief rogue's style but it's not a good decklist. I like the idea behind the deck but it doesn't work in practice. You should try to change some card to emprove your decklist.
Thanks for the share anyway and good chance.
what do you mean by "i've had some success"?
no success in me. Dont think i will be able to reach rank 15 with this...
I wouldn't use this to get through 20-15 ive had mild success around 14-12. This is very much a meme deck that can maintain your ladder spot but not climb, however I think it is only 1 or 2 cards away from being decently competitive, in particular a spell buff similar to oil or 1-2 stronger pirates.
I really like how the decks looks , but I think this might need some extra card draw , playing espionage without it could be a really bad decision. also you have other ways to generate cards from other class so cutting the espionage or adding sprint/auctioner (I prefer not cutting Espionage) seems a better option
I agree 100% honestly, typically i wont use espionage until everything is setup late game and I just want to get 1 other class card per turn to fuel cutlass. I have experimented with auctioneer in the past but a 6 mana drop in a burgle deck is just too much. I have found sprint to sit in my hand too often and is only really great once you already have your deck filled with espionage. Ultimately I think both of those card draw options act as "win more" options but wont save you when you are dying.
one last thing mate. if I was to try and emulate this version. are the south sea captain a star player given the fact they buff the other pirates too? I made s stupid decision to dust them some time ago as they were seeing no play (I knew dusting classic cards would be a bad idea, but lol)
I was thinking about crafting the legendary pirate, but if |I need to craft the cutlasses and the captains that's way too much dust really for something that might not even do that well (there's tons of weapon removal right now)
would love to hear some more on the deck.
hooktusk is a really powerfull card , this deck is based arround cutlass tho and those arent really good cards at all. If you like playing fun decks more than you like wining defenitely go for it . otherwise you could go for hooktuskt and play some tempo rogue, hooktusk seems a card with future.
I removed the southsea pirate after testing a bit
thanks man. I crafted the cutlasses last night. I just need hooktusk now.
this is what mine looks like at the minute. I'm still trying out different things though to try and get something that works for me. I was thinking of running a gadgetzan auctioneer for a draw engine. as it;s pretty good to empty your deck then fill it back up with cards from espionage. you then need to be able to draw into those cards though. maybe that 2 mana inventor with the battle cry that draw a a card though might be better.
I'm really just learning this deck. I messed with espionage back in BD, but I was using elekk's and stuff to put loads of cards in my deck then.
any advise on making this version better? (granted I don't have hooktusk yet to run that kind of tempo package that's in your deck.)
you reckon my version needs auctioneer? (I just posted in comment before) I could take out pick pocket and run gadgetzan no problem. just wasn't sure if it was too clunky.
I came up with this, the shadowblades are place holder until I get the spectral cutlasses.
as I don't have the new legendary pirate, I had to change my pirate package entirely.
I will just be using raiding party as way to keep up some tempo. greenskin + spectral cutlass gives you the corsairs for free etc. I would normally have deckhand, but there isn't room for 2 more pirates. I figured the weapons buff guy would be better in a deck where you try and infite the weapon.. although I don't have the weapon yet. ha ha. so my version might be better with deckhand.
this is the first draft anyway, let me know what you think please.
Think I'm gonna try a slightly different version to this. I don't have hooktusk so my pirate game will be slightly different.
really want to get a tesspionage deck off the ground again though. it wasn't so good in BD, but it looks like it might be finding some ground now.
