So the nerfs happened and RIP this deck. #NeverForget 2018-2018

 

Hey guys, my name is Jaybaseball1 (obviously), and I'm excited to show you this deck I've been playing with the past couple weeks. I took it from rank 7 to rank 3, and might end up in legend before the end of the season, who knows.

Introduction & Some Card Choices

The deck, quite obviously, is malygos druid. However, this isn't your normal version of malygos druid. First off, I don't include Alexstrasza, Twig of the World Tree, or Flobbidinous Floop. The simple reason on why I don't include them is because I don't have these cards. If you do, there will be a card upgrades section down below. Anyway, I wanted to play malygos druid with what I have, so this was the result. It works beautifully against all hunters and paladins, which make up a huge portion of the meta currently (See match ups section for more detail). The general game plan of the deck is to survive and OTK them with a discounted (or not) Malygos. Cards such as Spreading Plague and Oaken Summons allow for the deck to do extremely well against aggro decks. On top of that, the deck's draw engines *cough*Ultimate Infestation*cough* allow for the deck to our race other combo decks and control decks across the ladder. 

Combos:

1. Best dream petal discounts- 1 on maly, 1 on faceless. Play both swipe swipe moonfire moonfire, or if you used a swipe add dk hp instead. 14+14+11+11=50 dmg.  

2. Good dream petal discount - 2 on maly. Maly, faceless, swipe, moonfire, moonfire. 14+11+11= 36 dmg

3. Bad dream petal discount - 1 on other dream petal, 1 on maly. Maly swipe swipe moon fire moon fire, 9+9+6+6= 30 dmg, OR maly faceless dk hp moonfire moonfire 11+11+3= 25 dmg

4. Terrible dream petal discount - 1 on other dream petal , 1 on faceless. Maly faceless moonfire moonfire 11+11=22 dmg

Matchups

Spell Hunter 30-70 Us. We normally win this match up, which is a great thing because almost 1/3rd of my match ups are spells hunters... Mull for Oaken Summons, Wild Growth (like always), Lesser Jasper Spellstone, and Malfurion the Pestilent. Stall, keep their board clean with cards like Swipe (don't use both unless necessary though), Spreading Plague, Lesser Jasper Spellstone, and Malfurion the Pestilent's hero power. Eventually win with Dreampetal Florist discounting Malygos and/or Faceless Manipulator. *Also, forgot to mention, there is absolutely NO NEED at all to attack their face EVER. In all of my wins against hunter, I don't think I attacked face ever with anything.  

Odd Paladin 30-70 Us. Mull for Swipe, Spreading Plague, Oaken Summons, and Malfurion the Pestilent. Like always, keep Wild Growth. Not much to say here, taunt up, swipe turn 4 if necessary. Don't really need to use Dreampetal Florist at all, just drop a maly and they can't kill it, but if you get to that point, you won already. *Could get surprise lethals with plague tokens. 

Odd mage 30-70 Us. Look for Ramp, Lesser Jasper Spellstone, Oaken Summons, and Malfurion the Pestilent. Should be an easy win, cycle through your deck, gain armor, win... Idk what to really say here. 

Odd Rogue 45-55 Us. Haven't faced a ton of these post-Rastakhan, keep Lesser Jasper Spellstone, Oaken Summons,, Wild Growth, and Swipe. Kinda similar to odd pally, but you can't just drop Maly because of Vilespine Slayer. Basically, whoever gets the better draw wins. Oaken Summons is really good for you. 

Warlock. Zoo 50-50, Evenlock 60-40. Zoo is basically down to draw, you'll want Oaken Summons, Spreading Plague, and Lesser Jasper Spellstone. Pray for no Fungalmancer on turn 5 and you should be good. In evenlock, you'll want Naturalize, ramp, and Malfurion the Pestilent. Keep taunting, and if you are unable to deal with their threats, than you will most likely lose. *I normally mull for zoo, as you NEED the cards mentioned above, and I generally face more zoo than evenlock. Unless you absolutely KNOW it's evenlock, I'd recommend mulling for zoo.

Warrior and Druid. 35-65. Gotta have some bad matchups right? Evenlock and these are the worst. The fact that this deck includes the Oaken Summons package means we can't run Flobbidinous Floop. Cards such as Alexstrasza and Twig of the World Tree would defintely help, but I don't have them. Against warrior, I am 2-0, because they were dragon, not odd and I basically just rolled over them. Odd you need to get some consistent board  pretense and offensively use DK hero-power or else you have no shot. I have not faced another druid, I have no idea why, which is great, because regular maly druid would be much better than mine in the mirror.  

Shaman. 35-65 Us. Shudderwock is very hard to lose against, just don't get really unlucky with your Dreampetal Florist buffs, and even then it's still really winnable. Even shaman isn't really hard at all either, midrange decks are generally crushed by this deck's efficient removal. Their only hope is to get you early game, so I'd go for Oaken Summons, ramp, and Spreading Plague usually wins the game against even shaman.

Card Upgrades

Now you have to understand, my deck is a different take on malygos druid, not a strictly worse version. Mine is more anti-aggro and hunter, thanks to the Oaken Summons package. This is why I will not add Flobbidinous Floop here, if you want to play it, play classic malygos druid. 

A few upgrades I could think are as of follows:

-1 Dreampetal Florist +1 Twig of the World Tree. It does suck to discount a florist with a florist, and could cost you the game. Twig is slower, but more consistent. *Note, on one charge, you can't offensively use DK's hero power, which could be very relevant. 

-1 Something, up to you, for an Alexstrasza. Maybe -1 Dreampetal Florist 

Conclusion

 

If the deck gets up votes, I will add more to the sections and maybe make a more detailed section on my analysis on how to play. But for now, basically identify what they're playing early on, and adapt based on it. If you have 1 Dreampetal Florist in hand and Malygos and/or Faceless Manipulator, then TAKE that opportunity to discount, so you avoid drawing the other Dreampetal Florist and then losing the 1/3 and discounting it. Also, USE A DECKTRACKER! I can't stress how important this is. Knowing the cards left in your deck will greatly improve your gameplay. GET A DECKTRACKER!!! Ok, I'm done
