Hello, I'm Rdu, full time Hearthstone player for G2 Esports and Twitch Broadcaster at twitch.tv/rdulive
This is the Malygos druid that I finished top50 with and my teammate Neirea used to get #1 NA and finish on #2, and also another friend of mine, Thomm, finished top10 EU with.
General Mulligan
I always keep Wild Growth , Twig , and Nourish. I keep Aracane Tyrant if I have Nourish.
I always would even keep 2 Wild Growths if offered, 2 Nourishes only in control match-ups. Would keep 2 Arcane Tyrants with Nourish in most match-ups(probably odd paladin is the only one where I wouldn't)
More Specific Mulligan
Card by card, from the cards I didn't mention yet, I would:
- Keep Innervate only on the coin with Wild Growth+Nourish+Ultimate Infestation
- Never keep Moonfire
- Keep Spellstone against Tempo Mage and against Rogue going first(so that it lines up against their Hench-Clan Thug) ; Also good against aggro hunter and odd rogue if you know what you're playing against
- Keep Naturalize only against Warlocks to deal with Mountain Giant
- Never keep Ferocious Howl
- Never keep Branching Paths (maybe a fringe case is against aggro hunter if you already have good hand)
- Keep Swipe against Paladin and against Rogue with either some ramp or if you're on the coin to deal with Hench-Clan Thug
- Never keep Faceless Manipulator
- Keep Starfall only against Paladin
- Keep Spreading plague only against Paladin
- Keep Malfurion if you already have ramp against Rogue, Warlock, Priest, Hunter, Warrior, Mage
- Keep Lich King in control match-ups if you have Wild Growth+Nourish or even Nourish alone on the coin in some match-ups
- Keep Alexstrasza only with an already godlike hand like Wild Growth+Nourish+UI
- Never Keep Malygos
- Keep Ultimate Infestation with Wild Growth+Nourish in non-aggro match-ups and even only with one ramp card in mirror and against Warlock, or only with Nourish against Rogue
Card Replacements
If you don't have Lich King or Alexstrasza, you can replace them with a 2nd faceless.
If you want to spice things up, you can play Tyrantus instead of Lich King which I think is going to make match-ups against other druids, Shudderwock Shamans and Warlocks better at the expense of losing some percentages against aggro decks
Other than that, I don't think you can change any card if you want the full experience of this wonderful deck since it's built in such a way to not have horrible match-ups and always be able to win games against everything
'How do you win when they ooze twig?'
The question I get asked the most when I stream this deck is how do I win when they ooze my twig
Well, a lot of the time you don't draw your Twig since it's a legendary so the way you mostly win is by out-ramping your opponent and then curving cards such as LichKing/Alexstrasza and/or Ultimate Infestation and overpowering your opponent on board, sometimes even pushing damage with cards such as Spreading Plague or Malfurion the Pestilent which actually makes your hero power so much better!
Also keep in mind Malygos+2Moonfires is 12 damage and you can Alex them and also put them lower with cards such as DK or Swipe
Tl;dr: You win a lot of games because you play druid, Twig is just a bonus to punish people who don't play weapon hate or who tempo ooze early game not knowing what Druid you're playing
Conclusions
I like this deck a lot because it doesn't have any horrible match-up other than Control Mage and even there you can win with WG+Nourish into big threats
I also love the playstyle of this deck, it reminds me of Freeze Mage due to the fact that you need to make sure you survive a certain ammount of turns until you both gather the cards to kill your opponent and also get to attack 5 times with the Twig. The deck also has an insane ammount of defensive cards with both 1/5 Taunts and tons of Armor Gain
If you want to see this deck in action on high ranks, make sure to check out my stream!
Thank you for reading and I hope this guide is helpful :)
Hi everyone, made our own twist on RDU's MalyDruid, let us know what you think? It's a little bit more teched out to try and beat a taunt druid.

Much love 0.o
ok guys. Since i started playing hearthstone 3 years ago, this is by far the most insane deck i have ever used. My current winrate with the deck is exactly 75 percent with 36 wins and 12 losses. In 5 days time, this deck brings me from rank 14 to rank 5 with a 10 win streak and a 12 win streak. now lemme elaborate on the match ups for those who might care.
To my opinion, shudderwock is the hardest match up. Against this same kind of board control and late game deck, the 2 factors of winning are card draw and strategy choices. I will always try to win with ramping rather than 36 dmg otk since getting twig of worldtree is really up to luck. By using spreading plague to counter his volcanos and baiting out his hex in mid game, there is a chance where u win with big minions or spreaded boards.
Easiest match up to me are aggro decks such as odd paladin or odd rogue. my winrate against these 2 are seriously around 90 percent since u can be exactly clear about Mulligan. However, healock is an exception and my winrate is around half against it. Simply try your best to clear his board and dont ever think about late game otk.
To conclude, this deck provides the player with 2 possible approaches to win the game. and the key is the choice of either ramping or late game otk. and such choice is already by itself an amazing advantage over all other existing decks.
BTW, i only win 20 percent of the games with twig otk
by any chance twig of the world tree replacement?
I've been running this with the Oaken Summons / Ironwood Golem combo to fill out the midgame and it's working pretty well so far (admittedly low rank ~10)
I think it slows your progress against control. I am playing without this combo nearly consistently winning around rank 5. But I think it's good tech if you're facing lot of aggro decks.
After 80 games im exactly 50% with this deck with a high winrate vs other druids, 9-0 versus rogues :D, 50% vs locks, priests and warriors but getting owned by everything else...
The problem with this deck is, obviously, the hard to come by combo.... This deck with keep you legendary but aint gonna take you there without some luck.
Whats a good replacement for 1x Ferocious Howl ?
Fuck this guy is retarded lmao the deck is trash
In reference to you comment about this deck not having a bad match-up.
Shudderwock takes a dump on this deck. Both decks excel at controlling the board until the late game. Shudderwock will have an answer for your big minions with Hex, Volcano, And a pluthera of cards they will generate from Hagatha the Witch. Not to mention Healing Rain that is great at bouncing back from low health and negating pushed damage.
As Shudderwock I have faced this deck 4 or 5 times and beat them each time with no real pressure from them on my end.
The point I am making here. This deck is fabulous when it works. But if I played it and I went against shudderwock I would concede. Otherwise you're in for a very long game that you are not favored to win anyways.
That's not exactly true. You must be smarter than your opponent by letting him draw and use your Naturalize in a good moment. I won most of the games against it by being passive at the start and then burning some of his cards or surprise the board with your plagues and paths combo while on the other side totems.
But I agree that if you face a good player with Shrudderwock, you're likely to lose. It's all about the card draw.
I just had the most amazing game against a control mage at rank 1 (which is this deck's worst matchup)
if anyone cares to see the replay (i encourage you to at least see the ending), here it is: https://hsreplay.net/replay/txdVVPj3WBAyhDsNmjUGPE
also i don't know why people are complaining about this deck, i'm 70-30 right now, from rank 7 to legend
Dude great game that guy kept you frozen for a while but you came back with the Lich King!!
Regarding the "never keep Ferocious Howl" mulligan advice, I've always ended up with a worse hand and would have preferred to keep the card.
What are the other win conditions aside from the twig/faceless/maly combo?
Standard tempo plays, beat them down throughout the game, Branching Paths to increase minions attack if you can.
At the end, Malygos + 2x Moonfire is still a 12 damage burst. There's a reason it works a lot better at legend rank, and that's because it's kinda past the heavy aggro decks (especially the new heal zoolock) that just run over this deck.
As Rdu said, Alexstrasza to knock them to 15 and 2 Moonfires with Malygos on the table is 12 damage. If you can whittle out the last 3 somehow, like with a minion that stuck, that's a common way I've seen people get out of trouble with the deck.
And like many a Druid deck, a timely Spreading Plague + Branching Paths can be deadly to an enemy. Particularly small, wide-board minion based decks.
do you pay people to upvote this shit? idk in a meta where 90% of the games do not come to turn 10 you want a combodeck which needs to draw the full deck. thanks for making me waste 1600 dust for the weapon. do not forget to add a an obligatory "you are to retarded to play this deck" post
Well, nobody was saying that until you did, friend. But allow to try a more polite and useful statement; The skill cap on this deck is high. If you think you're going to master it immediately, you are mistaken. I have played this game for a few years now and I was struggling with this deck archetype. I don't play it competitively for that reason. I find it's a little thin across the mid-game and there are a number of things that CAN impede you. If you don't know how to react to them, a knowledge earned by experience including playing this deck itself a great many times, you will use your resources in the wrong spot and lose.
The Twig is only A win condition. It is not THE win condition. I would suggest watching some of Rdu and StanCifka's videos on the deck. They will help you figure out where you're going wrong.
did.you.even.read?
games do not last until you can play your combo.
Did. You. Even. Watch?
How is it that Rdu, Cifka and a ton of others are making and playing high Legend with it, then? You don't want to learn. It's not my or anyone else's job to fix laziness.
People like you always complaining sshh... do you know you can edit the deck. Malygos druid has base deck contain malygos and moonfire. The other cards just a support card while collecting your win condition.
Okay, this version just like this. If you probably still rank 15, which is so many aggro deck wandering around, and if you struggle against it you can add doomsayer or something taunt like tar creeper or even Ironwood Golem + Oaken Summons. Just cut innervate, Faceless, or 1 of Ultimate Infestations. It's up to you.
Against heavy control? you can add toggwaggle like thijs version. Draw heavily with nourish + branching paths, play toggwaggle when you have no card left, naturalize 2 monsters, already 5times fatigue to the enemy (15 damage). You can be creative dude. No one pushes you to do the exact same list like this one.
But sure Rdu is giving us the best option to play malygos druid, plus he achieved some high rank in legend. So we should appreciate him by upvoting the deck. show some respect, not bash him.
sure, because turn 9 I already win.
