I apologize in advance for my English. He is far from being, I use an translator for some (all, kappa) expressions.
At the moment on this deck, played about 70 games, winrate 64%. All games were in the rank of a legend.
Control loсk my favorite class, and before the last update I played on a similar deck about 500 games. Took a legend every month on it.
Сompared with the previous version, there are few new cards. But what:
Lord Godfrey - This is your table cleanup on the 7th move, with stats 4-4. This card greatly strengthened the deck.
Dark Possession] - a situational card, sometimes you can find a taunt, sometimes a charge to letal. Sometimes I say hello to Ben Broad.
I will complement and disassemble every match up, answering every question. In the meantime, I will describe the most important:
This deck is not afraid of aggro (unless your opponent is sent topdecks from Blizzard)
Against the control of matches, you must rely on Rin, the First Disciple. Remember that control vs. control is a fatig game. DO NOT take a lot of cards. Drink alcocol, talk with your girl (or boy, kappa) relax and spin Rin, the First Disciple, under the defend of your DK
Cubelock stopped being a very bad matchup without N'Zoth, the Corruptor. Now you are much stronger than him by resources. And all you need is to clean the table in time and close it from his DK
Later I will write it in more detail, I also compose another version of the control, which I'm testing for now. If it's good, you'll get it.
Maybe even win Blizzcon. Or one-class. if we get lucky. This is decided by Ben Broad.
Good luck to you, I will complement.
I completely forgot. The more upvotes you put, the better my English becomes. I do not know how it is interconnected, it's magic.
I remember the promise of a full guide, and in the near future I will do it.
The delay was caused by the fact that I broke my finger, dropping the props in the gym.
If you are told that sport is useful, do not believe it. Play HS.
Zola is a very versatile card that can generate value. If you find yourself in need for another boardclear just copy Lord Godfrey, if you need more value or taunt you can copy Voidlord or just copy Gnomeferatu in hope to burn a viable target or win in fatigue. If you want to add in treachery and Howlfind --> build another deck. If you pull it with possesed lackey in stead of a voidlord its very bad and will loose you the game. Although treachery+doomsayer is a combo but the cardslot is to valuable to put in treachery just for this
matchups so far? What're you doing with the mulligan?
haha glad you got a win, sounds like just a string of badluck really =( it's hard to win against baku hunter if you dont stabilize by turn 4 usually. If you find yourself running into a lot of aggro then I would take out 1 twisting (usually don't last until turn 8) and a spellbreaker for maybe tar creeper just to help you in the early game. Just have to pray for the Doomsayers and defile's in the early lol
I found that pure control isn't very good against spiteful priest so I added Mountain Giants to try to outvalue them early on.
If you could check my version of this deck and see what you think I would appreciate it: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1092271-control-warlock
I dont have a second copy of twisting nether, so i swapped it with Oakheart, seems pretty good in matches where i dont have draw luck.
To me, Gnomeferatu seems pretty redundant. Against aggro it's usually just a 2/3 body; occasionally you get lucky and burn CtA, Malfurion DK or something very vital to the deck, but I don't really feel like they are vital for the deck. If you're playing against control, you've got Rin to burn the opponents deck eventually. My list looks very similar to yours, but instead runs copies of these cards:
- 1 Spellbreaker
- 2 Gnomeferatu
- 1 Siphon Soul
- 1 Zola the Gorgon
+ 1 Echo of Weakness
+ 1 Mossy Horror (the combo with Echo of Weakness is pretty neat!!)
+ 1 Baleful Banker
+ 2 Rotten Applebaum
I'm currently 11-0 with this version, climbed from rank 10 to rank 6 in little over an hour!
Was thinking the same thing about Gnomeferatu, excited to try your version!
i thought the same thing and run 2 plated beetles instead. they work as some early presence and good to dark pact if you need healing.
cant agree with the removal of siphon soul but apart from that it seems good
I am so happy to see that cubelock is finally getting destroyed by the finer version of control warlock! Not only is the deck excellent against aggro, but it also defeats control extremely well given you draw Rin and the gnomes. I decided to make a video showcasing the deck, which I hope you enjoy.
All hail Azari, Destroyer of warlocks!
Would Voodoo Doll be a strong addition. with Dark Possession it seems quite powerful.
I run one less Gnomeferatu and +1 Carnivorous Cube. The second gnome isn't always useful, but the cube pays in every value control game. Sometimes priests steals voidlords or mages polymorph them, this gives a garanteed way to have them killed so that gul'dan gets value, and has won me quite a few games :3
Edit: wrong post
is really needed 2x Twisting Nether + Lord Godfrey ? isnt 1 Twisting Nether enough?
sometimes you need one, but sometimes you need the other. it's nice to have both in your hand when you need it.
I've been running a similar list but with Glinda Crowskin and Happy Ghouls, works well as an alternate win condition against control
I was trying to wait before crafting anything, but i couldn't wait much longer... i'm weak haha. I always wanted to try control warlock for a while before the new expansion. So I decided to go ahead i craft some staple cards: voidlords, twisting nether, and guldan DK with some of my hard earned dust.
But now i still miss Rin, Lord Godfrey and Zola. I have enough dust for them but i was wandering if there is some kind of replacement for them to save a little bit of dust (over 5700) until the meta get settled and start crafting again a couple legendaries.
If there is no half decent replacement, and if control warlock will remain a strong deck, i'll just craft them :)
Rin, the First Disciple is... "OK" in most match ups with this deck/similar. I can't say it's the most reliable game changer because of all the silences people are running. As for Lord Godfrey, he's legit. I've used him more times than I can count and he prevents you from having to use Twisting Nether for weaker board states. Zola the Gorgon can add a bit of value to Godfrey or other battle cry's to sustain the match longer. I wouldn't say she's dire need.
Thanks! Might craft Lord Godfrey since he seems legit, and I'll play around with my collection for the remaining missing cards and see how it performs :)
