Description
This deck tries to stick as many Taunt minions on board, buffing them up with Mark of the Lotus and/or Strongshell Scavenger.
Failing that, you can either stall with Taunts until you have enough Mana to pull off a huge swing with Hobgoblin/Strongshell Scavenger in a single turn, or Spreading Plague.
The deck also has powerful Elemental synergy with Tol'vir Stoneshaper and Blazecaller.
Card Choices
Core Cards:
Strongshell Scavenger: Usually you will want to refrain from playing this until you have multiple Taunts on board, but can be used to buff a single Taunt minion in desperate situations.
Hobgoblin: Has synergy with Crypt Lord, Annoy-o-Tron, Stonehill Defender, Tar Creeper, Fire Fly, Flame Elemental.
Crypt Lord: A very sticky Taunt that will usually force the opponent to waste removal on it to kill it. When played alongside Hobgoblin/Strongshell Scavenger, it becomes a 3/8 that grows.
Annoy-o-Tron: Can be played alongside Hobgoblin/Strongshell Scavenger as a 3/4 Taunt, Divine Shield minion.
Tar Creeper: Can be played alongside Hobgoblin/Strongshell Scavenger as a 3/7 Taunt, that has 5 attack on the opponent's turn. It is also an Elemental for the purpose of Elemental synergies. Curves perfectly into Tol'vir Stoneshaper.
Stonehill Defender: Can be played alongside Hobgoblin/Strongshell Scavenger as a 3/6 Taunt. Discovers even more Taunts.
Tol'vir Stoneshaper: Very powerful when played on curve. It will usually survive for more than a turn, allowing it to be buffed by Strongshell Scavenger.
Supporting Cards:
Void Ripper: Allows you to burst down the opponent from high health, if you have a board full of high health minions. Can also be used to destroy Doomsayer or Totems.
Mark of the Lotus: Used to buff your board.
Spreading Plague: Allows you to catch up from behind. Scarab Beetle can be buffed with Strongshell Scavenger.
Wax Elemental: Cheap Taunt minion that can be buffed by Strongshell Scavenger into a 2/4 Taunt, Divine Shield minion. Can also be used to activate Elemental synergy.
Brann Bronzebeard: Strongshell Scavenger, Blazecaller, Saronite Chain Gang synergy.
Saronite Chain Gang: Generates 2 Taunt minions with a single card. Great synergy with Strongshell Scavenger, Crypt Lord, Brann Bronzebeard.
Sludge Belcher: Deathrattle generates another Taunt minion. Great synergy with Strongshell Scavenger, Crypt Lord.
Blazecaller: Very powerful Elemental synergy card. Can be played with Brann Bronzebeard to deal 10 damage to a single target.
Fire Fly: Generates Flame Elemental, which can be played alongside Hobgoblin as a 3/4 body, or used to activate Elemental synergies.
Igneous Elemental: Generates Flame Elementals, which can be played alongside Hobgoblin as a 3/4 body, or used to activate Elemental synergies. Curves perfectly into Tol'vir Stoneshaper.
Card Substitutions
Druid of the Swarm: Very strong and flexible 2-Cost Taunt minion. Unfortunately it doesn't work with Hobgoblin because it transforms after the buff.
Cenarius: Flexible card that can be used to buff an existing board, or summon Treants with Taunt that can be buffed with Strongshell Scavenger if they survive.
Malfurion the Pestilent: Overall powerful and flexible card. Can summon Scarab Beetles with Taunts that can be buffed with Strongshell Scavenger if they survive.
Sunfury Protector/Defender of Argus: Gives other minions Taunt, so that they can be buffed by Strongshell Scavenger.
Unstable Ghoul: Can be played alongside Hobgoblin as a 3/5 Taunt.
Gnomeregan Infantry: This minion's Charge can be pretty powerful if it is buffed with Hobgoblin/Strongshell Scavenger.
Arcanosmith: Taunt minion with Crypt Lord synergy.
Bonemare: Can be used to give another minion Taunt. Very strong card on its own.
The Lich King: Very strong Taunt minion.
Servant of Kalimos: Elemental synergy. Excluded because Druid doesn't have any class Elementals that are strong in this deck.
Thunder Lizard: Elemental synergy. Reduces the downside of rolling Taunt.
Less than you'd think. From my experience, if you mulligan well and ration your Elementals well, you usually won't have trouble activating Tol'vir Stoneshaper/Blazecaller. Though drawing Void Ripper at the right time does greatly impact the outcome of games (unfortunately, its too situational to include 2 copies of it).
Even if you draw badly, you can simply stall with Taunts, then swing the board with a huge Hobgoblin/Strongshell Scavenger play.
