Deck is on the front page! Thank you guys!
Introduction
Blizzard announced the Leeroy Jenkins nerf, and now it cost 1 more mana. This effectively kills the 18+ dmg burst the old miracle rogue had. Now its back to good ole' Malygos. For those switching from normal Miracle, after the nerf Leeroy can be DEed for full price! Use it for your Malygos!
Malygos Rogue is a take on the most popular rogue deck, Miracle Rogue. The original Miracle Rogue relied on Gadgetzan Auctioneer to draw into the Leeroy Jenkins + 2x Shadowstep to do 18 dmg for 8 mana. With the upcoming nerf to Leeroy however, the maximum damage you can do in 1 turn is 12 dmg for 8 mana with just Leeroy and Shadowstep. Malygos Rouge, on the other hand, relies on the +5 spellpower from Malygos and damage spells (e.g. Eviscerate) to burst your opponent down. The great thing this about this deck is that you can burst them from behind their Taunts. Never again will Sludge Belcher get in the way of your road to Legend!
The Next Meta
This deck is built off my thoughts of the next Metagame. In my opinion; Zoo, Handlock, and Ramp Druid. These decks were all weakened by the surge of Huntard, but with the upcoming nerf to them, I'm sure they'll bounce right back into the Meta.(to be finished)
Card Explanations
Backstab: One of the best removal in the game. Use it the cycle with Gadgetzan Auctioneer or to remove that pesky Knife Juggler. One of the essential cards for winning the Zoo matchup
Preparation: The card that made Miracle what it is. Use it with Gadgetzan Auctioneer to draw 2 free cards. A must-have for this deck
Conceal: I run 2 of these. One of them is for Gadgetzan Auctioneer and the other is for Malygos. The earlier you can get Gadgetzan+Conceal, the earlier you win. However, Conceal can be a dead card in your hand if you don't have Gadgetzan. Also, on T10, you can play Malygos and conceal, protecting him from hard removal and silences and set you up for lethal next turn
Deadly Poison: +4 dmg for 1 mana. Use it for board clear or to hit face for lethal. Combo with Blade Flurry to wipe out that flooded Zoo board.
Sinister Strike: 3 dmg for 1 mana is already pretty good value. 8 dmg for 1 mana is insane value. Use it with Malygos for crazy burst or Gadgetzan Auctioneer for card cycling in desperate situations.
Blade Flurry: One of the two AOE in this deck (the other being fan of knives). This card can win games, clearing the opponent's flooded board (silly Zoo) or bursting them from behind taunts. Although it does not say it, Blade Flurry IS affected by spellpower
Bloodmage Thalnos: Extreme value for 2 mana. Not only does it draw you a card, but it has +1 Spellpower, perfect for killing Sludge Belcher with Eviscerate.
Eviscerate: Your main damage spell. With Malygos, this will deal a staggering 9 dmg. Also, don't be afraid to use it as removal. It kills off Azure Drake and Sludge Belcher with Bloodmage.
Sap: Some of you may doubt this card in this deck. You may think "Hey, since there's no more Leeroy Combo we don't need to sap those Taunts any more". However, this isn't the only use for this card. It can be used to gain tempo. Did the enemy Warlock just make a 11/9 Void Terror? Sap that baddie away! With the nerf to Huntard, Ramped Druid might make a resurgence. Did that druid just Coin double Innervate out a Cairne Bloodhoof? Sap that back into his hand and watch him concede.
Shiv: Another source of damage. This card can be used as removal, as a deck cycler with Gadgetzan Auctioneer, or with Malygos to deal a whooping 6 dmg for only 2 mana (AND you draw a card!)
Edwin VanCleef: I used to not run this card. It would always get Polymorphed, Hexed, or silenced. Then I realized that that was a good thing. They burn hard removal on this card, making it safer to play your Malygos later on. Don't burn too many cards to make a big Vancleef. Try to play around any removal your opponent may have. When playing against Priest, make him into a 4/4 (Shadow Word). When playing against Ramp Druid, make him small than a 8/8 (Big Game Hunter. When playing against zoo, make him as big as possible.
Fan of Knives: A source of AOE and card draw. This card is the bane to Haunted Creeper. Play this with Auctioneer to draw 2 cards, or even on a empty board to cycle through your deck.
SI:7 Agent: Your only 3-drop. This is one of the essential cards in winning the zoo match-up. When this card comes out it kills a minion and then trades into another. Don't be afraid to play this without the combo. Doing so is much better than Hero Power+Pass.
Gnomish Inventor: One of the only other 4-drops in this deck. The stats of this card aren't that great, but it is a body that can help you deal with the opponent's minions. It also helps you to cycle through your deck, allowing you to get to the cards you need.
Sen'jin Shieldmasta: The other stall card in this deck. With Zoo possibly making a resurgence after the huntard nerfs, having a way to slow them down is essential, especially of you don't draw into Blade Flurry+Deadly Poison.
Azure Drake: Formally, the game's best 5-drop. +1 Spellpower and draws you a card, all which is useful in a Malygos Rogue deck. Also has a mediocre body that baits removal (Soulfire, Swipe).
Gadgetzan Auctioneer: The most important card in this deck. This is the deck cycling engine that allows you to get to the cards you need. Always try to play him on an empty board, and with Conceal the ensure that he will survive till the next turn.
Loatheb: One of the two stall cards in this deck. The Battlecry of this card makes him one of the most powerful cards in the game. Playing this card at the right time can win you games.
Malygos: The card that the deck was named after. This is your main win condition in this deck. The dream is that you play this along with Conceal, and next turn throw all your spells at your enemy's face. With this down, Sinister Strike does 8 dmg, Blade Flurry does 6 dmg minimum(Weapon damage+5 Spellpower), Eviscerate does a whopping 9 dmg, and Shiv does 6 dmg.
Missing Some Cards? Here's Replacements
Edwin VanCleef: The Hex, Polymorph, silence eater. They burn removal on this and not on Malygos . Replace with Earthen Ring Farseer if you don't have it or if you face alot of aggro and need the heals. You could also use Shade of Naxxramas if you have it.
Bloodmage Thalnos: Everyone always says to replace this with Loot Hoarder instead of Kobold Geomancer. IMO, its entirely situational and is left up to you. The card draw from Loot Hoarder is nice, But the extra spellpower is pretty good especially in a malygos deck. It's all up to you.
Azure Drake: Don't see how you wouldn't have this card, even after Sludge Belcher became the better 5 drop. The closest replacement for this would be Gnomish Inventor
Alterations You Can Make
-1 Sap +1 Faceless Manipulator: The goal of this Faceless is to copy your own Malygos and then burst them with the +10 spellpower. Personally, I've never found the need to do something like that. However, you can use also the Faceless you copy a taunt when you're in a pinch.
-1 Sinister Strike +1 Headcrack: This one's for funzes. Dealing 7 dmg every turn with Malygos starts to add up after a while. The only problem is having a card to combo it with.
-1 Azure Drake +1 Assassin's Blade: It may seem a litte crazy to remove one of your card draw+spellpower cards, but you are having trouble bursting your down, this will help. Assassin's blade may become much better as less people run Harrison Jones to counter the huntards.
-1 Loatheb +1 Earthern Ring Farseer: (to be finished)
Change Log:
9/16/2014: -2 Sludge Belchers -1 Azure Drake +2Sen'jin Shieldmasta +1Gnomish Inventor - This change was made to give the deck a better curve and to deal with aggro earlier, since sometimes T5 Belcher came in too late.

i cant stop play this cards ! its so fun to play
Been playing this deck in casual today- 4 straight games opponent conceded before I hit lethal. A lot of fun to play! ;)
Updated win percentage (Casual, because scared to drop rank):
Tempo Priest: 5/5 100% (100% concedes after gaining card, board, and life advantage, all pre-lethal)
Post-nerf hunter: 1/6 18% (2 damage guaranteed a turn is too much. Often found myself at even number of <10 health before turn 9, can't beat that clock)
Tempo Rogue: 0/1 0% (couldn't keep up)
Secrets (tempo) Mage: 0/1 (90% direct damage, got hit "once" by a Leper Gnome)
After initial 4 game winning streak, lost 8 times in a row before winning against Tempo Priest, again.
Priest matchup is probably favorable due to inability to deal significant amounts of damage before late game. Minions are pretty easy to remove and trade, and not as numerous. A lot of priests made the mistake of sacrificing tempo to Thoughtsteal, which just gave me more room to prepare (literally), remove or establish board control.
Ever since I unpacked Malygos I've been looking for a reason to use him (+5 spellpower just so damn appealing!) but I don't think I'll take this deck to ranked until next season.
Any ideas for improving matchups with aggressive damage decks? I thought about swapping in ERF, +1 FoK, Sludge Belchers (though I agree that it's too late by turn 5, and you'd likely rather Gadgetzan + Prep + Conceal). Deck already has a lot of removal, but you often to proc combo to get value or wait for a spellpower drop.
This is a deck use mainly for heavy control meta, it just about destroys every single control deck out there except handlocks. When you see too many aggros apart from zoo, ur best bet is to swap decks actually. But if you really want to play this deck in an aggro heavy meta, i suggest adding doom sayers.
There seems to be a lot more control in ladder. Casual is every one trying out their modified zoo / hunter / undertaker [insert hero] decks. I just played 6 games on Ladder with Freeze Mage and only lost one game to an aggro mage deck - everything else was control. I really like the doomsayer + nova in Freeze Mage, but every deck up there that beat Malygod has constant access to removal by the time you need a doomsayer.
Anyone interested in playtesting Malygod against control decks? :)
What would you consider the priority card, Edwin or Thalnos?
If you only have the dust to craft 1. Then I would say its thalnos.
Worst deck on Hearthpwn...
So I tried this deck, and I'm getting absolutely slaughtered by everything. This is probably because I don't know how to play this deck. I never played rogue in constructed so I don't know a few things.
-How do you mulligan for this deck? Do you mulligan hard just to get an auctioneer? Or do I try to get some early game units like the taz-dingo in there as well? What do I keep and what do I toss?
-Before you put the auctioneer down, do you use eviscerate and backstab freely to deal with threats ?
-The turn I put the auctioneer down, I guess I should hope that I have conceal (should I mulligan for that too?). So at 6 mana I play auctioneer + conceal. Am I right that I should not play any more cards that turn, even if I have preparation ? Should I do the big cycle thing on a fresh turn ?
If someone has a youtube video of how to play this deck that would be amazing :-)
This deck is slightly more complicated than the pre nerf standard miracle.
-You should keep 5 drops for slower greedy decks like control warrior, priests, control pallies.
Against aggro like zoo, mull for backstab, SI:7, fan, prep and poison (only keep thalnos if you have bladeflurry or fan of knives, same for bladeflurry only keep it if you have poison). Don't be afraid to spend prep without auctioneer in this match up staying alive is more important.
Against hunters this match up is so rediculasly unfavored for you. You only chance of winning is hard mull for vancleef and make a huge cleef early and he hope doesnt have freezing trap, if you managed to do that mad scientist is worth a sap to deny freezing. (reason is this deck cuts farseer and assassin's blade, and your kill condition is turn 9+)
-Yes use them to deal with threats, you want to prioritize on resetting the board to delay till you can maly and conceal. If you do get into a situation where you have to spend a lot of removals to clear board before auctioneer then you should try to build a board yourself while your doing so by playing your own minions and prioritize playing other minions over auctioneer if you have no spells left in hand. But always try to save 1 evis for maly if you can, and your sinister strikes. (cept for hunters, you just gotta race him.)
-The turn you slam auctioneer down you can play him without conceal in hand, as long as you get decent value out of him often 2+ card draws unless it is a priest then you can slam him on an empty board and let him deal with it. Their only method of dealing with it from hand is a huge wild pyro turn, soulpriest circle combo and holy fire. If you can only cycle 1 card it is often better to just play the drake instead.
Thanks Genetix, I'll try your suggestions after the weekend when I'm back at home. Right now I'm having trouble finding out what to do when cycling. Should I basically cycle as many cards as possible, popping preparations and using all low mana cost cards just to cycle, or should I keep some 'key cards' behind when cycling. Like, should I keep a preparation, eviscerate + 2 sinister strike together with my malygos so I can all drop them on the same turn for massive damage?
EDIT: also, when my opponent drops huge minions (handlock for instance) I don't really know what to do against them. I'm used to playing tempo / control, and I feel like I don't have the board presence to deal with huge threats.
Evis is expendable when situations demand to be used as a removal. In most match ups its ok to cycle 1 sinister strike, and evis to clear board as long as its not sent to the face unless it setup for lethal in the following turn. When you cycle cards and his board is already destroyed, you have to think whether cycling can improve your hand quality, or are you cycling to reach your kill condition to get malygos. Once you have destroyed his board, its ok to just fan of knives and shiv face depend on how much mana you have left to cycle to try draw malygos. With this deck you really have to plan 2-3 turns ahead to try setup for a clean turn to play malygos conceal.
Against handlocks its ok to spend cards early to deal with their giants. As for drakes they only have 4 power, so it isn't very scary as long as they dont faceless it. Dealing damage to his face isnt really important since he would be tapping a lot you should prioritize on clearing his board as much as possible. Do save the sinister strikes at all cost. Often even if you don't deal much damage to the handlock often by turn 9 his already 1/2 killed himself by hellfire and tapping. He shouldn't really have more than 20 hp. Which you can easily kill by using malygos + sinister strikes, preps and evis.
If you are falling behind on board around turn 8 to turn 9 it isn't as bad as you think. Like him slamming down 2 moltens and taunts up, as long as you prepare well on previous turns it is ok. Like having a poisoned weapon on turn 8 so on the next turn you can maly prep flurry to clear board. The more you play the more you notice these things. If you can conceal the malygod after clearing its even better, but sometimes thats hard to achieve, so try to bait out at least 1 syphon soul before malygos.
If you lose malygos to siphon the game isn't over, because is he also crippled after losing both giants like that, most likely you will have enough damage to finish the game.
This matchup isn't as favored to handlocks as the traditional miracle since you can clear his board really easily late game. With 6 damage+ AOEs. Btw Most efficient way to deal with giant early is probably a thalnos + backstab + evis.
Thanks Genetix, I'll try it out in a few days when in home! With these suggestions I won't be as clueless anymore. Your help is appreciated! In case there are still some questions I can't resolve myself I may post again if you don't mind.
Great deck, So much fun to play. I almost hit legend with this deck, I'm still learning each deck, but it's a solid deck, i swapped one sinister strike for one head-crack. and gnomish engineer for earthen ring farseer. I enjoy having +3 for healing, and an easy 3 drop. head-crack is really nice after malygos conceal. easyily combo'd with sinister strike.
Thanks, hit legend with this deck. With a 1 or 2 slight changes depend on meta, was 80% win rate from rank 3 to legend.
Gave this deck another shot after the Leeroy nerf. It's just not good. With this deck you want to hold the same cards for both Auctioneer and Malygos. If you use them early Maly is a dead card and you don't have a finisher. Save them for Maly and you can't use them with Auctioneer so you lose the card draw. With the low amount of minions you are just dead by then.
I love this deck:)
I did make one change to it though
I added one Faceless in place of Edward just because I don't have him but the faceless works very well in the deck
Would violet teacher be better than shieldmaster.?
What if you replace se'jien shieldmaster with violet teacher, would that be any good ?
Double conceal is used differently with Malygos Rogue than old Miracle. Conceal now has two purposes: Gadgetzan and Malygos. The idea is to be able to conceal both.
