Druids already have really good beasts with Mounted Raptor, Druid of the Claw, Druid of the Flame, Druid of the Sabre and Wildwalker to support them. The reason the deck isn't good is because there's not enough cards supporting the base. Beast Druid is about tempo, but it runs out of gas too fast, forcing people to play Nourish and Ancient of Lore, which defeat the entire tempo plan. This kind of card is exactly what is needed, it maintains tempo without diminishing your hand even further (like mark of the wild and innervate do).
there are a lot more examples, just look through the basic beast cards, core hound, stonetusk boar, etc.
@ensoface
people who play beast druid sometimes stick those kinds of cards in their deck because if they have nothing else to put given the total low number of beasts compared to another category such as dragons
@ensoface
mostly, it runs out of gas due to the lack of strong and solid beasts
Wow another card drawing mechanic for druids. Who would think of that? >.<
I like this card: small, cheap and powerful for it's tier, but only if you cast on a beast and profit from the card replacement. If you ever lose your minion, you at least already benefited from the card drawing.
...even priests draw more cards than druids
Nourish is too slow and Ancient of Lore is probably gonna get nerfed, so pretty good idea.
Knock it if you want, but beast druid would ultimately be a zoo-like tempo deck and it actually desperately needs a card like this. Is it enough? Not sure. Would it be in the deck? Absolutely. (Spent too much time trying to get beast druid to work).
Blizzard is trying to make the beast druid happen so unbelievable hard
Maybe because even they are sick and tired of two years of combo druid.
They're going to... Probably Savage Roar and Ancient of Lore, maybe innervate aswell.
Love it. Not all cards have to be complex - just simple, effective stuff like this can really pump up a deck archetype.
Well, I know what I'll be playing on Standard now.
pronunciations in this set are gonna be a chore.
Shame Druid of the Fang won't be part of standard. Arguably the best druid beast card (especially if BGH is nerfed) if they're trying to support the archetype.
This mean Y'Shaarj is a beast related god???
Just a reminder that Druid of the Claw, and actually all druids that transform, are beasts.
The only card, which requires specific minion in play optimally and is playable I can think of is Houndmaster. And you can see why, its a freaking 4 mana 6/5 taunt when it hits. This though? It's a 2 mana 2/2 and card draw is not that great in beast decks, given there's Jeweled Scarab and Tomb Spider. Even 1 mana 2/2 won't likely worth it. Not going to push beast druid into playable territory still. Midrange archetype requires finishers which druid will lack due to combo nerf, so yeah...
A 2 mana 2/2 beast with the battlecry "draw a card" is preeeetttyyy amazing, which is essentially what this is.
