Two things needed to make him playable: 1) His buff should happen wherever he is (hand, deck, board) and 2) the Death Knight version of Uthar needs to give divine shield somehow (which... ain't gonna happen).
http://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/decks/wild-midrange-recruit-paladin-deck-list-guide-july-2017-season-40/ have fun in wild ;D
lol you dont realize this card is amazing in wild which the best deck is silver hand divine shield deck. good luck dealing with 5 recruits all with divine shield and if you remove the shields this bolvar goes like super buffed. its a wild card
Do you need to be holding this in your hand for the effect to work? That is, if he's in your deck and minions are losing divine shield, is he getting buffed? I assume not, but wanted to clarify.
Edit: I have clarified that is how it works. He must be on the board.
My poor Cobalt Guardian, you were too ahead of your time.
At long last, it's finally your time to shine.
That card still wont be used. lol
Does his effect count for when he loses his own divine shield?
Yea, it does. He is 3/7 almost instantly.
Hmmm, I've crafted every paladin legendary golden since the start. This might be the first one I skip...
For it to be in the "very good/meta-defining" range of strength/value, you need to pop at least one divine shield from another minion (That survived a turn with it's shield intact) to bump him to a respectable 3 atk then 5 after his own pop. I don't see this being consistent enough to pull off. Unless some more cards are unveiled supporting this theme.
He will still be mildly annoying at bare minimum so he gets a playable rating from me. Srsly, Divine shield then 7 health, it's gonna be a pain guys.
If you didn't skip original Bolvar Fordragon, why this one? The old one seems much worse, IMO.
Finally a bad/mediocre paladin legendary.
did you forget the first Bolvar Fordragon?
It's neat, but going to take a heck of a lot of theorycrafting to make it work.
God Fist Lee Sin bitches. Q R Q ctrl 6
Curving this into Spikeridged Steed will be OP it becomes 3/13 Divine shield Taunt and/or 5/13 Taunt... and I dare you try removing 3/7 minion on turn 5 (not to mention that you need to pop divine shield first)... Pirate warrior kinda can remove it while losing at least half of the board...
It's not only powerful, it's also quite funny. Can you imagine this guy riding a Stegodon
I agree on that artwork! It is so good!
I feel like if this deck becomes meta people will start running blood knight as a tech option.
This is a really bad card because its attack value starts from 1 for 5 mana. In order get best value, you need to lose at least two divine shields. I don't know why this card really exists.
If there could be more ways to give more divine shields to minions, then may be ....naaagh, it just sucks. Just play Blood Knight instead.
if you can draw and play in this order every single time, be my guest.
