I think adding this card is the reason why Spellbreaker has been removed to the Hall of Fame.
Consume Magic, Silence, Earth Shock, Keeper of the Grove and Ironbeak Owl would like to have a word with you
Cool art, cool effect, decent start. What is there to not like this card?
Nothing not to like, By default, it will go into any control deck (in wild as well, I think).
BANANAS. Will see play as Zilliax did.
Not the most familiar with dormant effect, but this could work well with Emperor Thaurisan
While I don't think we've ever seen a creature with a 'dormant' ability and an ability that triggers off of something (like Knife Juggler or Emperor Thaurissan), I'm pretty certain the ability wouldn't go off. The card's basically treated like it doesn't exist until the dormant effect expires (ie. a board sweeper won't kill a dormant Darkness).
Pretty cool card, and one I think will have some decent play. You're giving up 2 health over Yeti-stats for the battlecry (arguably ~3 stats because 'just a Yeti' isn't good enough these days). So what does that battlecry do?
1) Stops a minion from attacking for 2 turns (first turn 1/2, second turn 2/2 and awaken, third turn attack). This obviously isn't as good as removal, and is basically akin to playing something like Ice Lance on a minion for two consecutive turns (though better because you can get past taunt). That said, it blunts your opponent's attacking power (good vs aggro and midrange), and can give you some tempo (you're temporarily removing their minion, helping you with board control).
2) Triggers a second use of one of the new dormant demons. Nothing needs to be said about how good this can be, and really the only downside is that you have to have one on the battlefield... but this is much easier given that they can't be removed until they awaken, not forcing you to play both minions in one turn to guarantee the synergy (like is the case for some other duos of cards).
I think a lot of tempo and midrange decks would seriously consider this, and if they're running good dormant demons it should push it over the line. For example, I'd foresee demon hunter midrange with that 10 damage to enemies demon running this.
This can mess up so many combos, when you have lethal but need to beat winged guardian, plays this, opponent concedes.
Illidan Stormrage: Are you kidding me?! So I'm not allowed to exist as both a card and a playable hero, but Lady Liadrin can? What's next, they're going to turn my crazy stalker into a card too?
Maiev Shadowsong: Oh, Illidan~
Illidan Stormrage:
The new dormant minions say when this awakens do X, so if you put your own minion dormant again it would do the effect a second time when it wakes up?? I would vote yes
Certainly seems that way.
