It's more of a Demon than a Dragon, but even more likely a Devil.

I just put this card into a fun deck withDuplicate and a bunch of cheap spells. I had a Flamewaker and Kobold Geomancer on the board with Duplicate up, and my opponent killed my Flamewaker with his Death's Bite. Next turn I played 2x Flamewaker,Frostbolt, 2x Ice Lance.
Normally it would be 4+5+5 = 14 damage but the 2 Flamewakers triggered 3 times each for an additional 12 damage (so 26 total). That's pretty crazy, even if it's not a consistent combo.
I just realized you cannot make this minion invisible with Finicky Cloakfield :(
Thank you, I just wanted to combo him with spare parts first +1 attack then cloakfield, but the stealth didn't worked and opponent just killed him. I still had some frostbolt/fireball to combo with him later.

Flamewaker is a really good "sticky" minion you can put on early for some neat board control.
For example putting in Arcane Explosion and Arcane Missiles. It can work really good with Archmage Antonidas too!
... (Just remember to put in Antique Healbot(s) for survivability.)
As freezemage your goal and strategy is to stall the game and survive until your burst hits.
A Flamewalker is useful in decks where you want boardcontrol. Since you dont have many minions (aside from carddraw ones) a spot for a minion is wasted as you cant protect it or need it.
Additionally you try to play as few spells as possible until you either are sure, you can burst your opponent down or do it after you play Antonidos/Alexstrasza.
Since your opponent doesnt need to use his removals for anything, your flamewalker is sure to die instantly and therefor doesnt get ANY value

Except, of course, that Axe Flinger is a perfect counter to this card. If the random damage hits him, he'll be getting some great value. Axe Flinger will be strong because mages will run Flamewaker.
Also, Grim Patron and Dragon Egg. Flamewaker may be stupidly strong, but not in the context of Blackrock Mountain.
Axe Flinger just gets a Fireball in their face, and those 2 missiles from Flamewaker hit other targets that are not as destructive to your health to be hit, but more destructive when they hit you.

Ok, flamewalker can trigger multiple times in a single turn, while Demolisher will only trigger once. But considering Demolisher does not require a spell to be cast, I still consider it a tie.

Synergy with Arcane Missiles
This seems to work poorly against the three existing "Whenever this minion takes damage" cards already floating around for BRM (Grim Patron, Imp Gang Boss, and Axe Flinger) :(
