Varian Clarifications
Whirthun had a few clarifications to make about Varian Wrynn today.
Varian Wrynn
- If your board is full, Varian puts drawn minions into your hand. If Chromaggus is on board, you'd get a copy of the minion. (Source)
- Minions will be played onto the board if your hand is full. (Source)
- Like all minions summoned to the board, minions brought on by Varian don't activate their battlecries. (Source)
Brawl: The Great Summoner Competition
The ninth tavern brawl is now live, which is identical to week 4's brawl, and we're building our own decks this week.
The design challenge this week is to build a deck primarily with spells, since each time you cast a spell, a random minion of the same mana cost gets summoned. The Value!
If you've created an awesome deck for this brawl, share it using our deckbuilder. Set the deck type to Tavern Brawl and then select the subcategory "The Great Summoner Competition". If you'd like to check out other decks the community has created, you can find them all in this filtered deck search. BRAWL ON!
I like it. It's pretty niche, but it does the job if you're playing against a Demon-heavy meta (silencing their Voidcaller on curve can sometimes win you the game). It has a decent body, so it's not even that bad of a pick in arena. Not sure if it'll see play in constructed for now, though, but it's definitely not a terribly bad card and if everyone suddenly starts playing Demons, this card will see a lot of play.
annoyed by this brawl again, you either play druid or lose.
Actual it's more like they only patched in 8 brawls so far. remember that whole fiasco with Rag vs Nef happening again? It's because the patch with the new brawl wasn't there yet.
So we'll have to wait for an upcoming patch to bring more brawls.
Yeah, I was slightly disappointed when I first read that the brawl was a repeat, but I really don't they're already out. I can think of at least a few more off the top of my own head. Could be that they'd just like to space out repeats and new brawls so they don't just go through all the original idea in one go and then nothing but repeats for several weeks until new workable ideas get implemented. I'm just glad that it's a repeat of the best brawl so far.
Wait! It says any demon.
Sacrificial Pact works on Lord Jaraxxus
So would Holy Knight work on a player who is Lord Jaraxxus?
#In a meta where everyone plays warlock and they talk to much.
Ben Brode said that they will remove Sacrificial Pact interaction with Lord Jaraxxus

Where's this? Quite like that option being in there.
they should too, other demon buff cards do not work on him so this shouldn't either. I say all or nothing.
Thanks for the clarification McBeard, for a moment there I was really disappointed. Glad to hear he was just talking about Demonfuse text.
It's rough translation. And even if you could target Jaraxxus, like what?? What should silence do to a hero?
It doesn't make sense even if blizz somehow makes it.
Strong SideBoard card.
Oh wait, we don't have one.
been saying this for a long time that in tournament mode we should have some sort of sideboard.
you are being ignorant to think that, kezan sees play main deck in every deck at the beginning of the month when everyone uses either huntard or tempo mage to cheese their way to legend and it doesnt kill the game. Sideboard is meant for tournaments, not ladder or casual. A sideboard in tournaments will only matter if there is an option to play your same hero again. Sideboards are nothing but helpful to everyone who utilizes it.
no sideboard is not meant for just tech cards, if you are playing a control deck that is weak toward aggro but great toward midrange or other control decks and you face an aggro deck you side in early game minions or early kill spells, has nothing to do with just ONLY tech cards.
With this argument, sideboarding would be bad in every cardgame. But it's complete non sense. If u think ur Opp will put in Kezans u just take out ur traps (for example). Thats how sideboarding works.
exactly
I'd rather have BGH to deal with Mal'Ganis, but I suppose it could be useful against Void Terror or Voidcaller.
Why does Blizzard give us such situational cards?
Prefer an Ironbeak Owl over this...
Silent Knight, Holy Knight
All is calm, all is bright...

Silent Knight - Holy Shield
Holy Knight - Silence
