Not really. You can play this right when you're at fatigue and your opponent has almost no cards and you get 10 cards. And it's neutral.
The fact that it's neutral is relevant for sure, but Archbishop Benedictus didn't see play in Priest, even though priest is historically one of the best fatigue classes, they have a healing hero power, lots of very good removal and good healing spells and minions. So a better Benedictus is very unlikely to be broken, it might just be decent.
As for the Warlock/Warrior/Mage problem... Warlock already has a better fatigue mechanic with Plot Twist + Augmented Elekk (better because you can actually shuffle in cards you want instead of having to rely on discovering them, which might not give you any cards you'd actually want), Warrior didn't really get any control tools this time around, they just got some pretty offensive cards, so I doubt they'll be a good fatigue class.
I actually like the card precisely because it's a tool any control deck can use, which means you don't auto-lose against Burgle Rogue who has class tools that shuffle in cards just because your deck is slow, and with all the support Thief Rogue decks got this expansion, I think we might need cards like this.
This very well might work out as a fatigue tool in Control Shaman!! If used late game with Shudderwok in hand that will add up to 20 cards to your deck XD
Do you even understand how this card works? It replaces your deck with 10 cards everytime. It doesnt add 20 cards or so.
Yes.... But you play Elysiana = 10 cards, then later on in the game (if you already have shudderwok in your hand as I specified) you trigger his battlecry adding another 10 cards to your deck.
10 + 10 = 20
OMG....Shudderwock does it again. Save us.
Yes, but you need to draw the first new 10 cards, before you add another 10 with shudderwok, because the battlecry effect is always add 10 card after all cards in your deck has been deleted. So you can never get more then 10 new cards in your deck with this battlecry, because it always delet those you have.
Yeah of course. The point I’m making is this with shudderwok under the right conditions will give you value. Whether or not that’s viable we shall wait and see, it might be too clunky.
Nice and unique concept. The flexibility of this card pretty much guarantees that it will see play. In a way it's a bit like the meatball sub KitKat. Something you didn't know you wanted until you tried it.
Archivist Elysiana is such an awesome control tool! I love playing control, and would probably arbitrarily put her in every deck just for shenanigans.
Fear the Aluneth Mage!
Wow, goes straight in my Mill Shaman deck with Chef Nomi, theorycraft below:
why would you want to play inferior version of rogue with unstable element?
May be a Hecklebot/Denial meta bois
Oooooh Hecklebot loves this late
This is going to be mandatory for any fatigue matchup.
How come "replace" when using Rafaam, the golden monkey, renounce darkness and explore ungoro actually replaces your cards and doesn't give you more but "replace" when applied to this card means you'r eactually adding cards you don't have if you have less than 10 cards? Why can't we ever have an consistency with the wording of these mechanics?
"Replace" makes perfect sense to me.
If it did not say replace, it would also mean that if you could double up the battlecry, you'd get a total of 20 cards. If they went something like "destroy your deck and ______", it could be too clunky, especially with the card going onto 4 lines of text on the card. I don't think replace is the perfect word, but I can't think of one that would fit the role better.
Also, it's hearthstone, whats consistency with wording.
It's perfectly consistent. When you replace your hand with your opponent's using Azalina Soulthief you can end up with more or less cards than you had.
Same goes here, you replace your deck, whether it was empty or contained 15+ cards, with exactly 10 cards.
