So funny reading through these comments now that the expack is out for a week and jade druid is stronger then ever before xD.
I am not really a jade druid player myself played it a bit at the start of msog and now that its op but I always found hate for it to be unfounded since its really not fun to play against the ,,I will just remove everything you play and you cant do anything the entire game,, decks
Full face decks deserve a lot more hate in my opinion.
What happens if you change the cost of a 1-cost spell through Emperor Thaurissan or Bright-Eyed Scout?
Love it, finally control is playable again!!
Stop making cancer cards rather than make still more anti-cancer cards
Skulking Geist is indeed a tech card against Jade Idol and that's cool BUT this is not how tech card should be, because there's just no way to play around it!!
It's not like destroy those in your deck and you may hold some in hand for guaranteed future value.
For exemple: If you're afraid of Gluttunous Ooze, equipe your weapon and hit face immediately If you're afraid of Bloodsail Corsair, hold your first weapon charge in case you need to hit minion on following turn. You still loose some value against that tech but you use your skill to not fall behind and insta loose the game
I do agree Jade Idol is problematic and need to be countered/fixed but print weak design to counter problematic design it's not how to do it
I agree with you but...
So you allways hold that first Jade Idol... this card would be unplayable if it didn't destroy all of them
This card should be something completely different, like having a conddition or something
I'm not sure if "destroy 1 cost spell in both decks" would be the solution, I just used as exemple but...
First Jade Idol is always summon, and the second one you shuffle, so at this moment you have no Idol in hand, Skulking triggers, GG...and if you choose to hold some Idol in hand, you're sacrificing a huge tempo in order to do it, which fair enough when I think about it... anyway I'm just unhappy how they "fixed" Idol
I didn't like it either, but this doesn't mean Jade Druid is completly dead. Because maybe it isn't gonna be runned in many decks, or people will stop running it if they see that Jade Druid is not being played anymore, and than Jade Druid comes back with full force just to be countered by Skulking again 1 week later. Just like Quest Rogue was before the nerf. But also, this is just one card, letting it be in the deck even without Jade Druids in ladder is not so much of a sacrifice.
So than Jade Druids will need to have alternative win conditions, like the Jade Shamans of nowadays. You can't run only Jades in you're deck and expect to win.
In my point of view if you play the new Ramp Druid that's coming, with some Jade cards, you're gonna be playing Jades and not getting bored by it. Also take out Gadgetzan Auctioneer and play Ultimate Infestation. If they run Skulking you win 50% of the time with the tempo + value got by that craazzy card, if not you'll win 100% of the time because of it and the 4 consecutive Jades you're gonna play next turn.
They can also not draw it before you get you're 4 10/10 Jades, and than need to deal with the threat and won't have the mana to destroy you're Jade Idols even after drawing. So if the meta is slow enough, the matches they play Skulking will count, (in the win rate), as the times you play against aggro, wich is allways sad for Jade Druids.
It's in really a poor and lazzy work. But Jade Druid is not gonna die, and i'm sure of it.
Skulking geist is so bad the tempo you lose by playing it would probably allow jade druid to beat you with the rest of the deck.
While we clearly don't know for sure what the new meta will bring and if this card will actually be good, I do think this is poor design.
Over the past few years, Blizzard keeps touting that certain changes were made to "open up design space", but how is this not one of the most design space limiting cards printed so far? Even ignoring any impact on current spells, any future spell that feels balanced at 1 cost is crippled by this card; at 0 cost the same spell might be OP; at 2 cost it might be useless. And while this restriction will only be the case for ~2 years in standard (thank god), it will forever be there in wild.
Was the intent of this card really just to tech against Jade Druid, or other decks supported by 1 cost spells? If that is the case, why not make the body text "While this is in play, no 1 cost spells can be played" instead? That affect definitely still cripples Jade Druid (at least at the end of the game) while disrupting many other decks with 1 cost spells in the process. But it at least allows the opponent to still play said decks, and to try and figure out an answer when this cards is played.
I fail to see how cards like this and Gnomeferatu are healthy or even fun for the game. At least Dirty Rat put your minion into play, even if you didn't want to play it then. But these two cards have not immediate potential downside; Dirty Rat at least made you think about if you would pull their Arcane Giant out on turn 2.
Again, time will tell, but currently, I don't see this as being good for either Hearthstone's design space or general enjoyment.
Wait, what about the future of memes...
(Good bye explore un'goro)
Or you can just buff it (Basically, by chancing the mana of "discover a card" cards to 0)
Tech card to punish spell combo decks, I like it.
The OTK Priests downvoting this, LUL3D
Whelp there goes jade druid <3
Since the article about this card is about to break the record for most comments (or already has; i don't keep track) I want to join with my meaningless 2 cents :)
I think the card is great and will enhance the meta :)
So Execute wasn't really nerfed after all. It was buffed by future Team 5.
This card is STUPID. Why the hell they don't nerf (fix) Jade Idol?
You must be new here, "Fix a card? nah let's just print another card that destroys the first one"
Blizzard's logic
Wow, this is actually more powerful than it appears. It takes out many combo pieces.
Jade Idol, Earthen Scales,
Hunter's Mark,
Ice Lance,
Paladin Secrets,
Inner Fire, Flash Heal,
Sinister Strike,
Evolve,
Mortal Coil, Power Overwhelming, Soulfire
Shield Slam, Whirlwind
Kind of like what it does, kind of don't. Last part mostly due to the fact that fucks with some malygos decks.
Still, it is not a broken card that you can never hope to work around so it is fair (except for the druids that will have it played against them lol)
