I'll be shocked if Steal doesn't get nerfed if only because it's going to be incredibly frustrating to play against, especially since rogues and priests can both run two copies of it and there are even ways to duplicate and cheat it out.
Steal is the most depressing card I've seen printed in years. The card hasn't even been released and you can just tell how miserable it's going to feel every single time it gets played against you. Now we have this and Aman'Thul for the next two years in control priest to suck the fun out of everything. Why is it impossible for blizzard to make priest fun?
Everyone has their own definitions of fun in Hearthstone. My anti fun in this game is Miracle Rogue or any Combo OTK decks that can spam a bunch of cheap spells, make huge turns and steal opponent's turns to win...
These will be in standart only till next years rotation
I can already tell I'm gonna get seriously annoyed each time Steal is played.
I'm already annoyed every Priest game, but this time it's seriously.
When are we going to get cards that can defend / counter against stealing. Its freaking annoying when decks have loads of this in Arena. You cant do anything vs that type of value just stealing your deck.
Priest will play shadow word, but I’m amazed how many people think rogue will.
It’s 1 less mana than crabatoa, and even he doesn’t make all excavate lists due to cost. Excavate wants to dump its hand, and an expensive card that replaces itself likely won’t make the cut.
Mech rogue VERY obviously won’t run it.
It’s a value card, and value rogue never works when it’s not massively cheating mana like scorp does.
As much as Shadow Word: Steal is such a terribly unfun card, I’m at least glad it costs mana and requires the opponent to spend mana to play the card. Yep, that’s how I’m coping. Just reminding myself it’s not as horrifying as the pre-nerfed Yogg Titan
I hope Rogue will finally get some way to use all of these burgle cards the class is getting. They all just add a bunch of crappy cards to your hand with no real payoff for playing them.
Shadow Word: Steal is extremely niche, In most games you don't want to play your opponent's minions, and you especially don't want removal for 5 mana against anything remotely aggressive.
Doubtful unless Blizzard starts removing their ability to do plays on turn 5/6 thats worth 15-20 mana even more I've seen some crazy plays from Rogue turn 5. Rogue is built on so much mana cheating that cards that doesnt cheat mana stand a really low chance at becoming a thing for the class.
Fool's Golds tier 7 spells look like
Well, Wild is gonna suffer against Combo Priest. Good luck killing Hidden Gem
I can see it happening already(insane highrolls):
Turn 1: Illuminate on Divine Spirit
Turn 2: Hidden Gem
Turn 3:
DevolveRadiant Elemental + Shadow Word: Devour (on 4 targets) + Power Word: Shield 2x + Divine Spirit 2xTurn 4:
DevolveTop deck Inner Fire for 30 damage faceIsn't Gilblin Stalker just better for that combo, since it has more health and Hidden Gem's other text is completely irrelevant?
Hidden Gem can be used with Overheal cards that give minions more Health, and also Mana cheating cards like Funnel Cake
There is exactly one Overheal card which gives minions more health, and it's Ambient Lightspawn, a 4 mana 3/4. It does not belong in Inner Fire Priest. This is a Wild combo, which means the actually good Overheal cards in Crimson Clergy and Funnel Cake (which has no synergy with Hidden Gem anyway) are banned.
Lightsteed might be the card you're referring to, but if you're putting Lightsteed into an Inner Fire deck, the absolute last thing you want is an End of Turn heal - you want cheap heals which you can spam onto a minion the same turn you play Lightsteed, and Hidden Gem doesn't fit that gameplan.
You're right, I was not aware of Gilblin stalker's existence actually. Of course the potion of madness tactic is still something that works well, but I thought 2 mana stealth could make a difference. I guess not.
Holy shit the Entomb powercreep is unreal
Shadow Word: Steal honestly feels like a card designed to make everyone hate the game or to actually get Priest removed as a class. Is Priest's class identity really just making people quit the game now?
its such bullshit. i hate it already.
I can't imagine Shadow Word: Steal feeling okay to play against. I could see it easily causing a lot of misery. Hopefully it turns out to be garbage because I do not want to see a card like that in the meta.
As for Hidden Gem, actually seems like a really cool inclusion in any type of overheal priest deck since it can theoretically just stick on your board for a few turns and just trigger your overheal effects passively
