APhenomenal posted a message on Idea: Select 2 Decks for Ranked Matches, Ban One before MatchPosted in: General DiscussionSo I was thinking:
I think it'd be cool if you selected 2 decks before starting a Ranked match, and once you find an opponent, you both take 30 seconds to Ban one of the Heroes the other has selected, then proceed playing with the two non-banned decks. That way, say if the meta is that everyone is using a certain deck you don't have the defenses for and say you're ready for one but not the other, you can ban it, but of course the opponent is doing the same and banning whatever she/he forsee's might be your strongest deck. Gives a wrinkle of strategy where normally, its luck of the draw on what hero you might face.
Anybody else think that might be a cool idea? I'm sure there's plenty of arguments against this, but I wondered what the community thought...

Blue_Banana_whotookthisname posted a message on New gameplay mechanicsPosted in: General DiscussionQuote from Blue_Banana_whotookthisname >>Cure the problem, not the symptoms. The roots of that problem lie within the ranked system, not aggro. And how would you fix the ladder? Aggro is naturally overplayed due to the quick games it provides, i don't see any way this can change. Aggro decks should actually be weak just to compensate this factor. It has been proved that people prefer to play a 55% winrate aggro deck rather than a 65% control/fatigue deck to climb the ladder. I don't see any way to solve this issue other than making aggro bad enough that it doesn't go past 50% winrate. And even then i bet many people would still pick an aggro deck to climb up.Punish short games/reward long games (length in turns, not minutes). For example, no win streak rewards when the game ends before turn 10, extra star when the game goes on for x+ (10? 15? 20?) turns, more gold rewards (would be easier to implement if we got 5 gold/win). Maybe 1 gold for each 3-5 of your turns? -

Vanish didn't even see play (aside from the elusive Mill Rogue) until the current meta despite its being a Classic card.
You can't complain about a card being a "problem" if it's only just recently started seeing play. "Problem" cards are those that are toxic from the day they are released, regardless of what state the meta is in. Vanish sees play in one deck. That deck just so happens to counter your favorite class. You apparently continued to play that class despite the overwhelming number of direct counters on the ladder, then, instead of walking away or switching to a different deck, you came on Hearthpwn to complain. Do you see the issue here?

No you're not.

Judging by the first few replies, sarcasm doesn't seem to be a strong-point for users on this site. Duly noted.
OP, I enjoyed your post.

These responses were super helpful, thank you all. Gonna have to agree that my main problem is probably deck switching, which results in the illusion of bad matchups, which results in tilting. Definitely an easy fix. Any further input is appreciated.

First thread, spare me.
Any recommendations for getting to legend? I've been playing since GvG and get Rank 5 literally every month but have never managed to make it past Molten Giant, let alone the Inn Keeper. It seems once I hit 5 my matchups become a losing bout of rock, paper, scissors. I play Miracle, they play Pirate. Switch to Pirate, they play Value Priest. Switch to Value, they play Quest Mage. Switch to Quest Mage, they play Quest Rogue, and so on. I can't seem to achieve the consistency required to get to Legend.
Notably, I was Rank 5 on the 4th. Been stuck there since. I refuse to dismiss this as "bad luck" or some kind of "rigged matching system." I know I'm doing something wrong. I just don't know what it is.
Edit: Just to clarify, I am playing more than one game with each deck before switching. I am also aware that this great diversity is a positive thing, not a negative, and I do not expect to be able to dominate with a single deck... Looking at you, Secret Pally. I climbed to 5 with Miracle Rogue at a 41-6 win ratio. That same deck fell to 54-29 before I stopped playing it.

I think it'd be pretty dope but we all know Blizz will never go for something like this. At most we get a similar concept in a Brawl.

So just your unsubstantiated opinion, then?
That's not at all how it works.
