Don't dust. The vast majority of people who dust playable cards end up regretting it. The value is horrible and wild cards are needed for various challenges and events (e.g. Wildfest, in-game tournaments, adventures, etc.)
For a F2P route, I just use this strategy. Save all gold (unless you're good at Arena) in between expansions. You end up with ~8k gold. Use that gold to buy 70-80 packs. Wait until the meta settles and you know for sure which cards are excellent and absolutely necessary. Only craft cards that are absolutely essential for the deck(s) you want to play. If you're absolutely dying for dust, get rid of the cards you're 100% sure will never see play (e.g. Nat Pagle, Lorewalker Cho, etc.)
Using this strategy, you can achieve roughly a 85%+ collection of all playable cards as long as you do your daily quests.
I buy 70-80 packs with gold each expansion and craft whatever I'm missing that is absolutely essential (e.g. the best cards in the expansion). Using this strategy, you can basically go infinite.
Last 3 arenas featured 1, 1, and 2 regular common cards as part of the rewards package for 9, 7, and 8 wins respectively. Excellent and commensurate rewards for the time and energy spent. Thank you, Blizzard!

Much like a STD, this is a gift that keeps on giving, in addition to damaging its owner.
