posted a message on New Card - Foe Reaper 4000

Best comparisons IMO: Baron Geddon and Ragnaros the Firelord

played onto empty board (you are ahead):

    Geddon: Bad

    Reaper: Very Good

    Ragnaros: Very Good

Played when opponent has 1 or 2 minions:

    Geddon: Good

    Reaper: Very good

    Ragnaros: OK

Played when opponent has a full board (behind):

    Geddon: Outstanding

    Reaper: Good

    Ragnaros: Bad

To me, this paints a clear picture that Reaper is the most versatile card, and fits nicely between existing cards.  I wouldn't replace Baron Geddon with him (in cWarrior), but I may replace Rag (in cPriest and cWarrior).

There is a hole in the archetype structure:

Mage aggro (won't use this card) -> Mage Control (most obvious use of this card)

Paladin aggro (won't use this card) -> Paladin Control (no secrets -> this card could help change that)

Hunter aggro (won't use this card) -> Hunter Control (existed only as midrange; never full blown control -> this card could help change that.)

It's too early to tell if this card will get any play, but I like it.

Blingtron 3000 is nothing but a novelty fun card...It's absouletly horrible in both Arena and Constructed and just like Loremaster Cho and other legendary just like it will next to never see any play.

This rogue card tho is fairly solid...It's basically a mini Spiteful Smith...It's a high threat card regardless if the Rogue doesn't have a dagger out yet.

Not really - it's a battlecry, not a permanent effect. If you play it without a weapon, it doesn't do anything.

This is not true.  There is a gameplay video demonstrating priests and mages getting weapons.  If you played Bling-o-Tron and ooze in the same turn, it would net you, and only you, a weapon.

What it really sounds like you need to do is DE Leeroy and get yourself  caught up on Rares and Epics.  Seriously - I can almost guarantee any 1 card you get will leave you with buyers remorse - and as mentioned above you really ought to build decks around the cards you have.   Another factor now is that honestly some of the best legendaries right now are the ones from Naxx - people are so used to playing around Rag or Sylv or Cairne that I rarely find value in my deck for them.

With that said - if you really really really just want a new legendary to play with, I recommend something that will surprise your enemy, or at least be fun to use (which honestly Rag, Sylv and Cairne are not right now). Here are some thoughts:

Onyxia -  It sounds like you have a strong Shaman card set.   Why not make the ultimate Bloodlust target? Plus, this card is SUPER FUN to toss down with a knife juggler.

Bloodmage Thalnos - Duplicates and Thalnos go together hand in hand.  And spellpower is something every deck can use more of.   Speaking of which:

Malygos - This is my favorite legendary.  It's hard to pull off, but honestly, this card just ruins people and no one ever expects it.

Hogger - This card takes some strategy to get right, but Hogger can start a snowball effect on the enemy and combined with Kel'Thuzad he is a ragequit machine.

Hope this helps...but remember!  You'll be much much happier with 10 new cards instead of just 1.

Don't listen to this guy.  Anything other than say Bloodmage is a waste of dust in your current position.

Onyxia sucks because the minions don't attack immediately.  There are more than enough ways to wipe a bunch of x/1's off the board.

    Hogger is Win more...

Malygos is Win more unless you are playing it in a Rogue Combo deck.

Thalanos is good but all 3 of the ones this guy told you not to create are better than it as they fit in just about every deck.  Who cares if people "know how to handle them" the fact is they HAVE to handle them or they are in a heavy losing situation.  Plus all 3 of them give you value the second they hit the board.

I guess I can see what he is saying, that you should be more interested in having fun than emulating decks you find on HearthPwn.  I can get behind that, but I think getting the most flexibility out of my legendaries is more interesting to me.  Being able to play more decks competitively creates more total fun than playing with some of the less used legendary cards.

So hey- you're both right.  Cheers OP for the good convo.

We should set up a poll for everyone to vote on these changes.

I give it a thumbs up, or a +1, or a smiley face, or an erection, or something.

I too intend to Disenchant Leeroy Jenkins after the patch.  He and Archmage Antonidas are my only (non-naxx) legendaries.

I strongly favor the control style decks and intend to craft Sylvanas WindrunnerCairne Bloodhoof, or Ragnaros the Firelord.  I'm leaning towards sylvanas - any advice?  I enjoy Mage and Priest most at the moment.

    1. Doomguard is mostly used as a finisher or to remove big minions, that's not a problem at all in this deck.
    2. I am not. Miracle rogue will not dissapear. And with the new earlygame naxx cards, my guess is we'll see alot of zoo decks.

Forgive my intrusion.  It seems somewhat apparent that the shade must be played on turn 3 (or turn 2 w/ coin) to have any significant time to build up. This deck has a large number of low-cost minions that support early game tempo.  The Shade is somewhat antithetical to that.

In my opinion, I'd be happy to see a Shadow word: Pain or Death in its place.  They should do a better job of keeping you in control long enough to unleash the combo.

The shade would only accomplish that task if it were played on the correct turn and allowed to sit for a little while.
