Training Grounds seems aimed at the people who don't actually play Mercenaries while the excess coins issue is the #1 issue among those that actually do.

Strongpoint posted a message on Horrible patch: Unadressed issuesPosted in: MercenariesBut we'll get training grounds!!! (Who actually needs it?)
But to be serious, they said that this patch won't have anything major long time before it arrived.
We'll need to wait a month or two for a mercenaries specific patch. I'll judge if the mode has any hope when Merc focused major patch will get released

oldpro87 posted a message on Battlegrounds Balance Changes - 4 New Heroes - 4 Old Heroes RemovedPosted in: Newsthe premium you pay for the 3 gold is that you get to pick from 3 minions at that tier level and not just any 3 minions up to that tier level. You don't always roll high tier minions so the guarantee is why you pay the premium in both cases. Even if we compare to pre nerf toki and say 1 gold to guarantee a high tier minion. ok now it is 3 gold to guarantee 3 high tier minions, so it is as valuable as pre nerf toki from the perspective of more high tier options to choose from. Yes, you have to take one of them, but you are also getting 3 rolls up front instead of over 3 turns which means more upfront time to work into your build rather than finding the workaround card on your third roll. You have the option at every tavern up which keeps you relevant throughout the game. Sometimes you will not get a minion that works super well with your comp, but a lot of the best players keep their comp flexible through most of the game anyway right up until like top 4 where they are just improving on what they have and dramatic change is a lot less likely. To me, it seems like elise's passive is really strong. I'll have to play with it a bunch to see how it works in practice but 3 minions of your highest available tier means you will probably find something that is relevant or at least a stat monster to use so you stay on curve. Maybe I'm too optimistic on the rolls but I think this is either very well balanced or too strong.
I thought it was pretty ok or strong before, but when you mentioned pre nerf toki and I thought about the comparison, that is what made me think of it as being even stronger. It is legit 1:1 value of PRE nerf toki but it is all up front and while you don't have the option to buy every card you still see more than you would have from toki on average. If you go to 6 with elise you get 5 rolls so you look at 15 cards and pick 5. With pre nerf toki you probably won't get 15 rolls in a game and I don't know how many minions on average pre nerf toki players were buying that were the high tier minion from the lineup.
However, toki did also roll the entire roster. So I dunno, I'm thinking while I am typing so this may be disjointed. lol. I think it is probably pretty balanced, it looks neat and overall BG is pretty fun. I think the gamble aspect and picking from 3 at a time gives the chance of a really high upshot that is worth picking her. Maybe she won't be as S tier as i'm fantasizing about but I'm hoping for a solid A tier and not a dumpstery hero. We'll see. Thanks for the comment, gave me something to chew over in my head. cheers : )

Hanzo0712 posted a message on Validating Majordomo?!?Posted in: General Deck BuildingMajordomo Executus with all the C'Thun running around is scary though. I dont understand 2 Battle Rage but you probably want Brawl or Revenge since you generally want a clear board before droping Majordomo Executus.
Again, it's might not a good time to test him right now as all decks can easily burst with C'Thun, but keep trying :)

LunarFlare13 posted a message on Face is the place (for fun)Posted in: Face is the place (for fun)your deck sucks. lost 3 times in a row to rogue, made rogue. easy win.
I'm beating Rogue with Priest in this Brawl. Not very often, maybe 30% of the time but I'm still beating them occasionally. I say kudos for trying a not-so-obviously-op class in the Brawl. Needless to say this Brawl is heavily reliant on the luck factor of getting the good weapons to kill your opponent no matter what class you're playing. -

JoeGruff posted a message on s21 Elise patron hyper-drawPosted in: s21 Elise patron hyper-drawIs it perhaps too much draw? Maybe a Frothing for the Loot Hoarder? How has it worked for you?
It's actually great vs aggro and most midrange. It however fails vs control. Without the possible otk anymore, I can't see putting them in.Elise is really hard to pull off. You just have to hope for good legendaries. But with this much draw you can almost alway find you monkey by turn ~11. I've found it by turn 9 a few times. That's the theme of this deck. It's not competitive. But still crushesbrainless aggro decks while letting you have fun games vs control. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Seriously... another patch and nothing regarding the excess coin issue? I get that they don't see Mercenaries as a priority, but can it really be that far into the "Whatever, we don't care" column?
What are the possible challenges? Be as conservative as you want (ex. excess coins can purchase skins and after that be traded at 100-1 for same rarity coins on other mercs), but do SOMETHING. The longer it is left the less likely they are to do anything because those with 20k coins for Millhouse aren't going away and the coins keep comin!

So we've got a new patch with an effectively useless addition to the mode and the most serious issues are completely unaddressed. I mean c'mon! >:(
A list of unaddressed issues (feel free to add your own)...
Others? Dev thoughts (do they even read these things?)

Easy win against a Pogo/Mogu rouge. I didn't draw a single "Into the Fray" after he banned "Bolster," and I still won.
I did replace the Target Dummy with Frantic Flunky. Not sure why it wasn't the second taunt in the recipe tho.

Is the best ban actually the Sigil runner?

Woof. Most of my games have been two rounds or less. Auto-concede vs. rogue, auto-concede with a round 1 flaming imp as warlock, auto-concede with 2nd round coined Shattered Sun Cleric vs. a shaman (if they don't concede in round 1).
I've been on the winning and losing side of that basic coinflip, but there are definitely more concedes in this brawl than I've probably ever encountered.

Idiocy. To break even (even I tell you not even gain something), you have to get six wins in the most cheesed out version of the game before you lose three times?
How is anyone possibly foolish enough to delve into the sewer of Hearthstone that is Heroic Tavern Brawl. Ugh. I'm sure some people will sit there and try to sway rubes in off the street by saying it's not that bad, but are that many Hearthstone players such intensely degenerate gamblers?
I guess it is an appropriate tavern brawl for the week they run the Kentucky Derby.

So many druids with so many taunts and a huge C'Thun to top it off! I was getting wrecked... Had to revive my The Black Knight

I. Love. This. Brawl!
Turn 2 Astral Communion
Turn 3 Mekengineer
Profit.

I don't know if I'm going to go so far as to dust ALL of my old expansion and adventure cards, but I don't have the card pool to compete in the current format really so I definitely don't want to go into the "WILD" west and get nuked by those guys who are already beating me up especially when a new expansion comes out and probably creates progressively more crazy combos and synergies. I did that with MtG years ago and could probably do it now with cards people haven't even heard of much less seen in fifteen years. Show up with a eight card 2 forest, 1 mountain, fastbond, channel, fireball, sol ring deck (since we're unrestricted and all).
That said, I wouldn't mind having Kel'Thuzad or Boom for some class challenges or tavern brawls if it comes to it.
Honestly I'm surprised so many people are planning to play wild as is.

Both players need patience... We're doomed!
;) Had some good matches where the mage didn't empty his hand and I (the druid) held lorewalker until I could play Millhouse, Lorewalker, and Healing Wave. He did 50+ damage the next turn
