    The Vampire

    Lore

Blood-Princess Rias is the eldest daughter of the Blood-Queen Lana'thel. Rias had managed to capture and turn an adventurer before the assault on Icecrown Citadel. She went to her mother to ask for guidance about the information she had found out. Knowing what was best, her mother wanted Rias to make haste and find a location to hide out till this assault ended in one way or another. Months had passed and she left her hidden cavern and began her trip back to Icecrown Citadel only to see the Crimson Hall a ruin. Bones scattered throughout of Alliance and Horde soldiers along with Darkfallen. She seeks vengeance on those adventurers for the death of her comrades and her Mother. Now she is building her own force to take the fight to the Alliance and the Horde.

    RiasHPToken

    Why fight?

    Overview

Rias' Hero Power : Forceful Bite, She has not had a good meal in a while and looking to make a mess of things, although blood may at times spill on the ground it is still as tasty as ever. Why chase after a moving target when this one is willing to stay still?

    The Core

    Healing

What better way for a vampire to do then to keep themselves topped off. Where they get the source of healing from can be quite disturbing at times. From destroying your own followers to being feed by your admired pets.

    Control

Rias has no time to play games with minions her main focus on the prize your life blood. She can't have you just die right away she needs you to pay for what had happened to her mother. She'll take care of you for a small price. Don't worry about her companions those are for your minions to deal with.

     What awaits?

    A Basic Example

    BattyDrawBolt

    Explanations

Hungry Bat : The minion that has been by her side since her mother created her. Trustworthy this little pet is. With a strong base stat for 1 mana. He is bound to keep a few smaller minions in his control.

Dark Calling : She needs to have some fun. The draw for this could be a gamble for both players since they know a minion is for sure in the hand.

Bloodbolt : More damage on the prize just like how mother use to bolt us. Trying to end the game quickly just might be a good thing for this card but fall behind and it's a good card to gain a small bit of health restore. It's a weaker Mind Blast but to much damage on the enemy hero is bad.

    More Basics?

    Remaining Basics

    HarvestGazeOrb

    MarkBeamTurn

    Swarm

    Explanation

Harvest : A quick and cheap card to gain health, but with all cheap heals it comes with the cost of a minion. However when it comes to Sacrificial Pact let's hope you have minions your not afraid to lose. No minions in your deck, no heals.

Attracting Gaze : Have a problem with a minion, not a problem. This plays on the Vampire ability to control a victim and in this case make it so you can attack the problem with your minions. If you have any.

Life Orb : Minions getting destroyed to fast, and need some pinch healing for them. Sure you have to give the enemy hero some health but keeping your minions alive is important too. I'm sure you'll find a way to remove the health you just gave them.

Mark of San'layn : Terrible, just Terrible. Who wants to buff minions anyway? Sure you could give this overpriced buff to a minion and find a way to keep them alive, but most vampire companions have higher health pools. Except that one adventurer. Now pay for that sweet attack buff and destroy some enemy minions.

San'layn Beam : Hard Removal anyone? Why take 3 damage? You have to keep up with the health loss on your enemy.

Turned Adventurer : Yup...I see a little Fire Elemental just 1 turn sooner and 1 damage less. Happy targeting.

Crimson Swarm : A weaker Flamestrike but your after the health restore now get out there and hit some minions. Just don't use this one 1 minion.

     There's More?

    Challenge Cards

     VulpixQuarta

    Explanations

Blood-Crazed Vulpes: From the Classic set we have this little guy. Such a nice furball of power with the helping paw of getting more minions on the board to help take control of a losing control situation. Taking a loss to your health is a small price to make but a big gain for a future turn. You know like turn 4!

Kella X. Quarta : From the Whispers of the Old Gods the vampire takes a trip down memory lane back to a time where Northrend didn't have annoying adventurers and the scourge lived in peace. What vampires can't have memories? Kella is the answer for pesky little minions that many gotten buffed or just take down a strong minion that is about to be summoned. Either way she is ready to give judgement. More on her later.

    Hidden Secrets?

Take a chance and open whats below.

    Flavor Text

    Hungry Bat : He's really just thirsty...Promise.

Dark Calling : You don't want to know where they got your number.

Bloodbolt : Knows where to go.

Harvest : Tasted better than chicken.

Attracting Gaze : I choose you!

Life Orb : In case of emergency break this.

Mark of San'layn : At least this is not Brand of San'layn.

San'layn Beam : There is a .01% chance this will beam you up.

Turned Adventurer : We told her to /dance to break mind control...Oh well.

Crimson Swarm : This is bat country.

Blood-Crazed Vulpes : Beauty really does come with a price.

Kella X. Quarta : "There's no saving a rotten egg."

     The End?

Good luck to all those who advance.

Can I get some feedback on how to word this little guy.

Old Text was "All minions cost health instead of mana", had to make this change for the fact you could just North Sea Kraken it and your opponent may not be able to deal with the might beast. Yes you'd take 9 damage for summoning.

I'd like to give the opponent a chance to benefit from this minion.

I guess its time for me to be salty. I feel like these competitions are wrought with imbalance. Creator's barely care. Voters don't seem to care. The Mods don't seem to care. Its just a mess. "Cool", "Fun" and "Good" are the metrics that matter. Balance and Design fall by the wayside. I feel like everyone hates the idea of being told their cards are too good or unrealistic and honestly its laughable how many entries made it into this round with huge faults and almost impossible to balance features.

I know I can't speak for everyone here, but often there's a lot of misconceptions going around. Most people around here - myself included - just don't know what makes for 'good balance' or 'good design'. Sometimes, I try and it works, and sometimes, it just doesn't and I screw everything up. A lot of people have incredibly high expectations that many creators just can't meet.
And a lot of people don't really know what makes for 'good design' either. That's an inherent problem with open voting - the metrics by which 'the general public' and certain creators judge things are completely different, and it just can't be avoided unless we overhaul the entire system, and that in itself causes tons of problems.
@Turkeybag and Pyrin: Thanks for the feedback on Channeling. Would the card be balanced at 3 mana, or maybe 4? Looking at Far Sight, it draws a card for 3, then reduces by (3). So Channeling would be balanced against it if you had 2 cards in hand prior to playing it if it were costed at (3). Maybe I should cost it at (4)?

3 Mana costing should be fine. When you look at it this way Summoning Portal,Pint-Sized Summoner,Unstable Portal true these target minions, Emperor Thaurissan,Millhouse Manastorm strong effects and yes helping your enemy, then we have Call Pet and Far Sight large decrease to mana cost but aiming for 1 card. I can't think of any others off the top of my head.

Any thoughts on my cards before I submit? Is Channeling too strong? Should I include a card that has the 'If this card's cost was reduced' effect?

    Card

Channeling is another way for the Medium to discount her cards beyond the use of her hero power, which is important if you want a bit more consistency with your reduction effects due to the random nature of 'Guidance'.

I'd say if you want to keep it 2 costing. Switch the order to decrease the cards in your hand by (1), then draw a card, otherwise I feel it would be a better 3 cost card.

Alright, finished my basic set! I'd like feedback on the cards, and I'll gladly give feedback in return upon request.

Red Herring 2 random bodies for 1, reminds me of Dark Bargain doesn't trigger without a second body. Card would have it's moments if you can control which 2 get merged.
Venerated Sensei battlecry could work against you.
Fuma Shuriken Effect is balanced, Take damage to draw.
Crouching Panda setup for a later turn summon 1/1 looks good to me.
Frontstab is fine since Heroic Strike would be the bigger version of this.
Be water from what has been displayed it's a great way to remove 3 cost enemy minions with Westwind Shinobi.
Might want to change the wording on Westwind Shinobi from 5/6 minion to 5/6 Spectral Tiger. Trying to figure out if this would be a problem for (Challenge 1: I'll do it myself) with only 3 minions for the basic set.
Twinbolt Shuriken hit minion for 2, Take X damage from minion, Deal 2 damage to enemy. Cobra Shot but with a drawback.
Double Trouble Deal 4 overall damage for 3, works for me and probably a few other submissions.
Onion-cutting NinjasConsecration and Flash Heal in 1 card. Just less control on where the healing goes.
    Just my thoughts.

Here is what I'm currently thinking about.

    The Class : Vampire

With all Vampires they have a crazy healing rate, and are able to dish out fair amounts of damage.

Low cost Legendary Minion is from the WotOG Expansion.

Kella Quarta : For the mana cost of 3 and having stats of 5/5 there would have to be a downside to this card and I feel giving enemy minions more attack could out weight the stats.

    The Basics

Hungry Bat : Has had it's text changed from the Phase 1, It must live from the damage. This change was to make it fair and not be broken if given Taunt.

San'layn Beam : This would be the classes hard removal, Costing 4 and dealing damage to your hero for balance.

Harvest : One of the few ways this class can heal to help keep aggro at bay. The mana cost may be to low. This card only triggers if there is a minion in your deck.

    Rest of the Basics

The Biggest Problem is deciding which Pokemon to use.

    or

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Guess I better find and unbury this, Lets break some stuff.
Decided to go with Blood Crazed Vulpes for the pokemon challenge.

Okay, so I think I have the showcase cards. Mainly worried about their power level (I'm worried some might be a bit too weak).

    The Hero Power:

    HeroPowerGuidance

    CardCardCard

                                     CardCard

The Demon Mentor helps you understand the cryptic advice of the spirits, allowing you to play 'Guidance' spells at a discount, rewarding you for holding lots of them. This also stops the 'Guidance' spells from discounting each other, since they now cost (0) and are inelligible for cost reductions. Probably on the weak side - should I make it a (3) cost, or buff it's stats? Or is it OK as it is?

Banish is an example of how a card can synergise with cost reductions. I just felt that it was pretty cool. Without discounts it's bad, but give it a few and suddenly it's a better Shadow Word: Death that can actually kill Ysera and Malygos.

The Stonepeak Mystic is a healing card, which any class that aims for the longer game needs. Right now, it's probably way to weak, but I'm not sure how to price the effect. Maybe it should cost (5)? It's also a way that the class synergises with summoning lots of minions.

The Entombed Horror is Cofagrigus, if you couldn't tell. He attacks unsuspecting travellers, trapping them in his coffin, before finally releasing the poor souls as mindless, vengeful Mummy Zombies, as it is prone to do. Can act as a sort of removal, sort of like Moat Lurker does, but with less Combo potential. Is it too similar to moat Lurker? Should it just flat-out transform the minion into a Mummy? I would have it do that, but I like the flavour of it trapping the dude in the coffin and releasing him later mummified.

Izanami is the Japanese goddess of death and creation. She kills everything, then resurrects them. Wording is based of Reincarnate, and I like it because it's more thematic. She can be used to trigger 'when you summon minions' effects, remove buffs from enemies, heal allies, and trigger allied deathrattles.

The rest of the basic set:

    CardCardCardCardCardCardCard

     Anybody got anything?

For your submission, I take it you have a second spell picked out. For to the First Challenge of this phase.

Trying to Find a good spot for your Guidance, Weaker bodies, strong benefits, average cost.

Demon Mentor -  I personally would up the stats to either 4/4 or 3/6, With it working together with your hero power need that staying power.

Banish - Is a good late game removal with the 1 downside of it needing to cost more and for that I'd alter your an early game spell...

Bloodbolt - Looking at the card you don't need it to deal 1 damage to you. Dealing 4 damage is fine.

Stonepeak Mystic - This is one... Why heal minions that where summoned this turn...I could see it working with Charge type minions or even minions that deal damage to themselves... As far as cost of the card I'd say 4.

Rest of the basics look good to me.

Thanks for the feedback. Stonepeak Mystic doesn't restore health to the minions, it just restores health based on the amount of minions you summoned this turn. For example, if you played two 2-drops, before you drop it, it would restore 8 health. I made Bloodbolt the way it is so that if you try for Malygos OTK shenanigans, you'd smash your own face for 6. Do you think it can be 2 mana, or would it be too strong? Thanks for the reminder about having to show 2 spells and 1 minion - I'd forgotten about that.
Bloodbolt would be great for 2 mana, since it has the drawback of costing the additional health.
After hearing the feedback for  Entombed Horror, I would have to agree changing the battlecry from Destroy to Transform into a 3/3 in which case I'd make this guy a 3/4, would work similiar to Keeper of Uldaman but deals with the pesky deathrattles. You've already got the right Mana Cost.
Stonepeak Mystic, I'd have to say 4 mana would be good, since the card needs another minion to trigger it's battlecry. We can't always rely on Guidance hitting the right cards.
    Just my thoughts.

    Class : Vampire

Blood Princess Rias is one of the scourages prized Vampires. She has been hiding away in the frozen halls of Icecrown waiting for the right moment to strike back against the adventures. Hungry to taste your hero, don't worry she only bites so hard.

    Example cards:

        Host Bat

    Explanations,

    1. Blood Queen Lana'thel : Powerful and has the ability to gain control much like how vampires can take control of their victims.
    2. Hosting Concubine : Weak at first, but if not dealt with can be a powerful force for coining out.
    3. Hungry Bat : The heart of this class with the staying power when being attacked by minions, use a spell or a weapon if you want to get this one off the board.
