    Quote from Regenblood >>

Thanks for all the replies, especially nightcrawler, whom gave a pretty detailed explanation and helped me to understand how I can achieve my aim better. (i.e. to craft those golden legendaries I like)

For nightcrawler, I just have the following points to confirm before I start accelerating the card purchases. Based on what you mentioned in your post, the dust to USD ratio is assuming I dust EVERY single card I received from any adventures I bought right? And that I can only buy all these adventures just ONCE per player right?) And that the most efficient way to get the specific golden cards I wanted is to use money to purchase is buy the adventures and not the typical expansion packs (60pack/70 USD) offers right?

Yes, the numbers I posted above are assuming you dust each and every card you earn from buying adventures.  Adventures can only be purchased once.  If you are okay with dusting those cards, the order to buy is LOE, Karazhan, Naxx, BRM, then regular expansion packs (best dust/USD value to least)

How about if I just keep on buying the typical expansion packs until such time that I have enough duplicates that the more packs I buy, the more dust I can get from each pack (because I will already have the copies and can dust the cards from opening the newer packs). I hope u know what I mean. (e.g. I have a lot of cards from the classic packs so if I choose to buy classic packs, there is a greater chance to get more dust because I had the extra copies compared to if I choose to buy cards from other series)

Cards do not need to be duplicates in order to dust them.  On PC, you can go to your collection, right click on any card and disenchant it for the same amount of dust you'd get for using "disenchant extra cards" button.  A lot of people dust weak/boring cards in order to craft what they like.  It's not good in the long term, but that's one popular style of collection management they use

For the above reason, if you want to buy expansion packs, you should buy ones that you have the least of.  This way, you have a greater chance of opening new and useful cards, while you still have the choice of dusting anything you don't like.  You can even try buying some MSG packs in case you get lucky and open golden Kazakus or Raza normally

One last thing ... I like fancy meme cards as much as the next guy (Golden Archbishop Benedictus is still in my collection from a craft in the Razakus days) but in my opinion, "boring" cards are necessary in order to facilitate (drawing, surviving, keeping up on tempo, etc) the playing of fun cards and interactions more consistently.  Even some of the non-legendary cards from adventures can be useful

This is disgustingly lazy design.  Deal 5 to the opponent shouldn't be a thing because priest doesn't go face?  Let's make it heal and target your own face instead!

posted a message on Recreational player in Hearthstone contemplating more worthwhile actions (real money for dust, most efficient way to do it)

If you're looking to spend money, the best value is generally to wait for pre-purchases and limited time bundles (like the master bundle and Toki's bundle that are currently running).  They are almost always the best deal when compared to buying packs normally

Keep buying these long enough, and you'll eventually be able to "break even" with the expansion cycle (have enough dust/gold to have a reasonable number of non-golden meta decks at all times).  Once you do that, only buying pre-purchases + daily quests are more than enough to keep you afloat

If you do not want to wait for the sales bundles and only care about dust, then here are the quick mafs on the best dust/USD value :

    • Naxx = 3140 dust/25USD = 125.6 dust/USD
    • BRM = 2590 dust/25USD = 103.6 dust/USD
    • LOE = 3170 dust/20USD = 158.5 dust/USD
    • Kar = 2950 dust/20USD = 147.5 dust/USD
    • Expansions = 60pack/70USD = (98.25*60) dust/70USD = 84.2 dust/USD (pack dust average pulled from HS wiki)

Keep in mind that this is all assuming that you'll dust everything you'll open.  As you can see, buying and dusting the adventures are the best bang for your buck.  However, note that adventure cards can only be obtained through crafting or doing the adventure the first time.  Once you dust your purchased cards, you won't ever be granted them again.  This can severely cripple your ability to play in wild, so I do not recommend it personally, especially if you are dusting them to make other wild cards

On the bright side, you don't need to worry about already having some of the adventure cards.  If you have a golden Brann and buy LOE, you'll end up with one golden Brann and a plain one that you can dust at your leisure.  If you have a Thaurissan and buy BRM, you'll end up with two Thaurissans

For expansions, the 60-pack orders are the best deal as far as regular purchases go.  The bigger the bundle, the better the value.  If you have not purchased any of the wild packs with money since they implemented the "first 10 packs opened of any expansion guarantees a legendary" system, you can buy them first for your guaranteed legendaries

Also, just so you know, Raza, DK Anduin and Baron Rivendare see literally no play in competitive wild decks.  Reno is only played in renolock, which is very low tier.  Are you sure you want to dust playable, competitive wild cards from adventures to craft meme wild cards that no one is playing?  This decision could be very bad for your collection health in the long term

Okay listen. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS INTERACTION DOES NOT WORK. WHAT I AM ASKING IS WHAT WOULD HAVE TO BE CHANGED TO MAKE IT WORK.

Here is another card that has existed in HS:

    Unearthed Raptor

This is simply a targeted Undatakah effect EXCEPT that it says "gain a COPY of" instead of just "gain." It is still a battlecry, and it also does not transform the Raptor into another minion. What I am saying is that there is a non-keyworded and unexplained difference between "gain" and "gain a copy of" in these two cases, and with respect to deathrattle effects. It seems to me like a distinction without a difference.

Dude, I just explained to you why "gain" doesn't work and gave you 3 different wording cases that do work.  Was it too long for you to read or what?

Also if you don't believe us about the raptor, it's not hard to go test it out yourself LUL

posted a message on Undtakah + Recurring Villain Bug?
    Quote from serotoninronin >>

I know it won't. Listen to what I'm saying. I'm offering a hypothetical. If the text of Da Undatakah read "Copy the deathrattle effects of three friendly minions that died this game" instead of what it actually says "gain...," then would it go infinite with Recurring Villain? It's not complicated: I think things change a lot if you replace the word "gain" in the text of Da Undatakah with the word "copy." Am I wrong?

If you want to change the base card (an 8 mana 8/5 with a battlecry) globally during a game, you'll need more specific wording, not just "copy". Globally changing or buffing base cards during a game is an extremely rare mechanic and has historically only appeared in jade golems and C'thun.  These are big, expansion-defining mechanics with tons of support cards that buff in specific ways to ensure they don't break the game.  To put this on a random neutral legendary makes no sense and puts the meta balance at risk for no good reason.  Hypothetically, you can achieve this effect by making the battlecry something like, "<Gain effects blah, blah, blah> ... Give all future Da Undatakahs the same deathrattles, wherever they are."

Also, the difference between faceless and Undatakah is not "copy", but transform.  Faceless transforms itself into a new minion, leaving behind no traces of its previous form, much like a shaman can transform away deathrattles with hex.  For another way to make this work, the battlecry would need to be similar to "transform into a 8/5 <token name> with the deathrattle effects of 3 friendly minions that died this game."  This way, when it dies, it will summon the new 8/5 token (which comes with the deathrattles) that was generated instead of the base Undatakah minion, which lacks the text to save buffs between instances

I think you've been playing way too much with Immortal Prelate.  Immortal Prelate's deathrattle reads, "Shuffle this minion into your deck, it keeps any enchantments."  If an Undatakah dies with this text, it will keep the deathrattles because they are enchantments (AKA, a buff).  The keeping buffs part is an extremely unusual mechanic and what makes Immortal Prelate unique.  Keeping buffs is not what happens normally when you summon something and Prelate is the exception to the rule

So instead of changing Undatakah, you could alternatively make villain's deathrattle could read "If this minion has 4 or more attack, resummon this with all its enchantments" (like Prelate). which would also be incredibly broken

This logic always triggers me so much.  "Why don't you buy fun game modes? Why don't you play fun decks?"

Having fun is exactly what I'm doing; I just don't find the things you mention fun personally.  Is it really so wrong to save the money for future packs so I can have my fun in constructed?

Rogues were nerfed.  No rogues means warrior's main prey is out.  Which means no control warrior.  No control warrior means your mage now has less good matchups

Meanwhile, cyclone mage is the new best deck.  It's basically a better version of the book of specters giant mage and weak/strong to the same stuff.  People will naturally want to counter the best deck.  Your mage is now facing a lot of bad matchups

I personally believe that Cyclone Mage is very overrated.  The one that is more controlling with doomsayer and frost nova is the best version imo

It doesn't matter if Cyclone mage is actually good or not.  As long as players think it's good and play it on ladder a lot, more players are going to play decks that counter it

Ads are a non-issue when uBlock Origin exists. But with or without ads out of cards has a shit website design and will take a lot more work to make people jump ship. Besides hearthpwn and outofcards aren't  the only two websites with a fourm. I'll move to the blizzard fourms before I move there if they don't hire or find someone to do a proper job soon.

That's funny, because I switched to mainly using OOC for the same reason.  I have nothing against the new mods/owners of HP because they aren't Curse but the site itself is full of bugs and looks terrible.  I can't even upvote decks and comments here with Chrome.  On my brand new laptop.  I've got friends asking me to upvote some decks every so often and it's (the site, not the friends) absolutely infuriating that I need to open this site on Edge to do so

The edit post function doesn't work every second time and quoting people in comments section is still broken.  Maybe OOC doesn't have many functions but at least they've promised to add them rather than starting off with existing functions and leaving them around to rot

    Quote from Kaladin >>

Relax, Hearthpwn is 6 years old and outof.cards is just a few months old.  Can't really compare the two in terms of design.

The way I see it, one is full of bugs from years of bad development practices and the other is too young to have any lol

    Quote from delkoHS >>

I don't know the guy, but if he's bad then why are you watching his video's? I understand that sometimes you just don't like something, but why downvote instead of simple ignoring it? I'm sure some of the newer players might enjoy showcased decks with simple commentary. Rank 5 is high enough for players still learning the game anyway. I personally appreciate people who are trying to make an effort for the community.

I don't know the guy either, but if a video is bad, you downvote it.  If everyone were to "just ignore" things they don't like, then what would the point of the downvote button be?

"I'm going to play a card" is not educational and "10 mana cards aren't useful with 7 mana" isn't exactly rocket science.  HS isn't a small indie game lacking in community content.  It would be much better for new players to watch someone else

I'm leaving. This recent news is akin to resurrecting a corpse. The talent that matters has already left the building, so I sure as shit ain't staying.

     That's pathetic behavior.

You know absolutely NOTHING about those new guys. Give the ****ing guys a chance to prove themselves and THEN move on if you don't like em.

Precisely - we know absolutely nothing about them. I'm choosing to side with the people who have been cultivating this site for years - and who, by the way, even offered to buy it and were turned down only for this complete 180 to then happen - rather than those who have absolutely no history with the place whatsoever.

If you think it's pathetic to want to move to a site which Flux and co. aren't just running - they've built it up from scratch - then by all means stay. You do you. But I completely disagree and stand by what I said.

As far as I'm concerned it's in the interests of anyone loyal to HearthPwn to move on and join the people who actually made the place what it is. But if you wanna' stay on this barely-functioning dumpster fire because a backhanded corporate buyout isn't enough of a deterrent for you then go for it. Have fun.

    Regardless - cya folks, o /

You know what, I was going to argue with you but fuck it, I don't feel like it.

If you want to leave, be it. Don't ever look back my friend.

I'll do it for you then, though I don't agree with calling people pathetic

What Curse did to Flux was a dick move.  I get it.  But the new owners aren't Curse and they haven't done anything other than purchase a site with a bad reputation due to its previous owners.  I feel that they're getting a lot more hate than they deserve

There's no reason to leave hearthpwn other than personal convenience (you don't want to use it and OOC both).  Curse couldn't care less if hearthpwn gets less traffic now; they don't own the site anymore... in fact, less traffic probably reassures them that they made the right choice in shafting the site

With Hearthpwn staying open, a lot of folks will probably not bother checking out the other site.  It could have been a clean transition

posted a message on Anybody elses decks keep automatically deleting and adding cards?

It's pretty damn annoying since it seems to re-break itself every so often and you need to open up every deck you have in the collection to make them playable again

Also, if you let it "autofill" your completely fine deck from the play menu (rather than the collection), it will actually remove your cards and put random crap in there
