Mhmm, I 100% agree with what Reynad said.

My first thoughts were - why should I shuffle all of the minions (mine included) into the opponent's deck; I would just delay the game and lose to fatigue, if I'm in a control vs control MU. But then I watched Reynad's video, where he mentioned the small critters you can shuffle into your opponent's deck and they, trying to fish for burn or for something useful, will draw them instead.

So the question is - how to build a deck with this card properly? It's obviously bad vs value decks (Jade, Raza or just control priest, N'Zoth etc), but it has the potential to screw your opponent, who plays an aggro, mid-range or even a combo deck. You just dilute their decks. I'm not a priest player, but I would love to explore the possibilities with this spell, as this is certainly a great challenge for the deck-builder.

Reading some comments, I would like to mention two things:

    - Although I also considered the support in QR, I don't really think, that this deck will kick off and become extremely popular. Why? Because a) the nerf still impacts the pace regarding the completion of this quest and most importantly b) the weakness of this deck was the aggro MU. And what's the meta atm? Granted, things will change, the new set will freshen the decks, but nevertheless the weakness remains.

    - Why do you people mention tempo rogue? That's the worst deck you would want to put her in. It's not just playing Bonemares and Vilespine Slayers and hoping, they will stick until you get to play her. In order to get the value out of her, you need to keep her in your deck and this is the opposite of what tempo rogue tries to do. You want to be aggressive as much as possible, you want to apply pressure and then to finish off your opponent with Leeroy Jenkins or other form of Cold Blood burst. A 3 2/2 minion, although I also think she's quite powerful, is not what Kelerogue needs.

About the destroy your minions part - well, I was kinda thinking of Usher of Souls and how warlocks can spam a bunch of 1/1 tokens, which are traded off anyway (old example Forbidden Ritual), but I think you are right about the "over the line" part. I didn't aim to make the ideas well designed, I just concentrated on the probable theme.

Nice try, but as we all know the card transforms into the upgraded version. It doesn't leave your hand, replaced by the better one afterwards.

But dunno what the warlock spellstone will look like. I'm also pretty excited to find out.

Some of you mentioned the self damage, others the discard. I may add two more suggestions:

    - destroy 2 (or X) friendly minions

    - destroy a mana crystal

Rewards? Some good demon bodies, which will compensate the tempo loss. Like I said, it's just a thought.

This is a counter for Quest Mage mirror! xD

This is actually I nice mention. Maybe not in the quest mage deck, but it will act like paladins try to counter ice block with Eye for an Eye. So definitely another reason for tempo mage to use this.

Discard would be a poor upgrade mechanic since you risk discarding the spellstone, every time you try to upgrade.

Dammit. I thought this looked more like a demon (before the reveal, only looking at its face). I still hope warlock gets some nice demons this expansion.

I see this in some versions of control mage, because primarily it is in those decks, where you care more about sustaining and keeping your health as much as possible. In control mage - either value or grinder - you play the long game, your win-condition is more in the form of exhausting your opponent and gaining board control.
But this is where I want to say "but". I don't feel it's that impactful to make you include it in your deck. If our hand-size could become a bit larger, if we could break the 30-card limit, then yeah, this would have been considered. The card reminds me of Ice Walker - they both have bad stats (weak to trades), at the same time their effects are quite useful; the longer they stay on the board the better, but, sadly, not good enough:

    - Ice Walker - good at stopping big minions and you don't need to use extra resources to do it continuously, after all you only use your HP. But this stops only one minion at a time and against a zerg board or against spell oriented decks this would feel like a bad draw.
    - Arcane Artificer - It's cheap, so the combo potential is great and if it survives you might even make a Reno Jackson out of him, taking granted, if you cast and generate more than 30+ mana spells. But this requires you and the elemental to be in a almost safe position, so that you can cast those spells and "threaten" to gain more health. I.e. you kinda have to have board control, because if you keep him until, let's say, turn 6, when you plan to play your Cabalist's Tome, you will let your opponent snowball with their board and you will be in much worse position. Of course you won't play a greedy combo with a greedy card against a fast deck, you would try to neutralize their board, but this is what I was wanting to say - you can't play the elemental freely, you have to find the perfect timing.

I'm just going to put this here:
Don't you love how people overestimate the power of a certain card and start exaggerating, they only look at the positive outcomes and they try to convince you how this scenario will occur pretty often.
Tbh I had a small laugh, when I saw the term broken, followed by a comment with a comparison to UI and that card being weaker than the new rogue legendary. Well, good luck explaining them the other side of the coin.

Good card for quest Rogue, this plus Cheat Death might make it viable again

Although I don't think, that the rogue secret will be that useful, I'm sure, that this legendary will (somewhere). And I also think, that her place is in the QR deck like you do. The tokens are cheap, small (aka they can be easily traded off) and many. And even if you don't get to use her in the early game, then, yeah, when your minions become 5/5s, she will refill your hand.
Outside of QR - well, I think she's kinda slow and not that useful, maybe she would be used in value decks? Such as N'Zoth or Jade? Normally those decks need tools to survive (and to make a comeback for that matter) and thus I don't think they will kick off with this legendary, but we are yet to see the other cards from the K&C set, so I hope I get proved wrong.

posted a message on New Mage Secret - Explosive Runes

So I want to ask something:

I think that this card has a power level greater than other previously released secrets. Right now I'm thinking of the polymorph one, of the mana bind, maybe vaporize. So my question would be - do you guys think, that this card will find a home in popular decks? Am I correct to state, that tempo (or burn) mage would use this instead of mirror image. Because think about it - against aggro decks you rarely get something good from this secret, you could at least concentrate on dealing damage to the opponent's face and racing him down. Explosive runes may be counterable, but I think this also contributes to the main strategy of the deck - maybe not that much regarding the tempo aspect, but like I said, more in pressuring the opponent. Because let's face it - control decks also try to minimize the value you will get from mirror; normally I, playing controllock, try to give my secret mage opponents a mistress of mixtures, a worthless 1/3 demon taunt or a doomsayer.

What I'm saying is - is that when you are paying 3 mana price for a spell, you don't lose the effect, which you paid for. You will either kill/damage a big minion or you will play the aggressive (burn) role, and you will rush down your opponent. So am I right of wrong for thinking like this?

True, my friend. Sometimes I spam for absolutely no reason, so forgive me for making you read unnecessary points, which you didn't provoke.
Yes, that is really 3200 dust commitment just for a meme deck and maybe those cards won't see that much play outside this theorycraft, but tbh I would do it. I mean, normally I also take into consideration the strength and the "lifespan" of a card, when wanting to craft a legendary, but I also consider how much enjoyment I will get from it. I mean - look at Patches the Pirate - since his release he was always included in aggro and mid-range decks, also in some combo decks (QR). And this is the point I wanted to make - I think it's logical, that some people care more about goofing around than laddering; I mean what kind of enjoyment do you get from a 1/1 charging body. You win more games this way, this can be one's priority, gratz, but for me that's the same as spending your dust on pure joke/weak cards, which you will get tired of after the 3rd or the 4th game. Why do you torture yourself grinding on and on just to get higher on the ladder(and better rewards)? For me this becomes like a daily chore, matches like this kind blend with each other, they become predictable. Games should be unique, each with a different story to tell, they should bring enjoyment and relaxation to both players. This is my definition for a rewarding experience, especially for people who are tired (from work/school/uni) and want to take a break*.
So yeah... sorry again for making you read this, but I adore having pleasant conversations with you, people, so I do like to express my thoughts.
*note - just wanted to be clear on this: I'm not talking about the RNG factor and I don't support blizzard with their philosophy for randomness. I was just talking about the experience itself, how we should break the ice and not always play try-hard decks.

Don't know how to evaluate it. On the first glance it looks really promising, but I think it needs to be play-tested a lot. My initial thoughts are making a value elemental mage, but like I said, it needs to be tested to see how good or bad will it perform.
