BitterLemons posted a message on New Hunter Card Reveal: To My Side!Posted in: NewsSeems like Hunter & Priest is on a balance scale. When one prevails, the other does not. It's either Priest-Strong Hunter-Weak, or Hunter-Strong Priest-Weak. That's the trend I found. Brews many question marks on why they design like this.

Sudrakon posted a message on CorpsetakerPosted in: CorpsetakerSo this is the "bad card with good reviews" bingo card right? Let's analyze it:
First, note that the minion has to be in the deck for it to recieve the buffs. For example, if you have 2 lifesteal minions on your deck and draw both before you draw Corpsetaker, it gets no lifesteal. Now If you run Lifesteal, taunt and divine shield minions you should be able to get 1 or 2 of the buffs consistently, but don't think you'll be able to get all the 3 consistently. We all played Patches, Mad Scientist, Arcanologist, Finja... and sometimes you draw things in the wrong order. Because Corpsetaker depends on so many cards to function it will not be absolute thrash (getting no buffs), but it will also not get all 3 buffs most of the time. And let's not even talk about windfury because it sucks and windfury minion sucks.
Now let me say this. EVEN in the case where you get, say, divine shield+taunt, it's still a worse Tol'vir Stoneshaper and a better Silvermoon Guardian, which is still pretty bad. Now if you manage to get the dream of Taunt+Divine Shield+Lifesteal on turn 4, which again is unlikely to get every time, it's still just a bigger Wickerflame that costs 1 more and has +1/+1. Now this is not a bad deal but it's still not that strong: Wickerflame is not even run in some Paladin decks. And again, windfury is not even that relevant even if you get it. And for you to get it you would have to run windfury minions in your deck, which you don't want.
And for people with the idea of putting a lot of Divine Shields, Taunts and Lifesteals in the deck for Corpsetaker to be more reliable: you can probably do it with taunt, but how many useful Divine Shield minions do you know? Aside of Paladin (Tirion, Wickerflame sometimes) not a lot. For Lifesteal we'll have to see still if there are a good amount of them in the set, but I'm not optimistic that you'll be able to run 3 or 4 good Lifesteal minions on your deck.
Don't kid yourselves, this is not the next Shredder. Now I think it's going to see play in the right deck (probably paladin because they already have good Divine Shields and even more Taunts than the rest of the classes), but even in those decks it won't be overpowered. An unreliable +1 mana +1/+1 stats Wickerflame is not overpowered. -

Vernula posted a message on Terrorscale StalkerPosted in: Terrorscale StalkerBecause you're one of those people who doesn't understand why people don't like Curvestone and want the game to change.
Sacrificing Tempo now to gain Tempo later has been shown to work with a ton of cards previously, Emperor Thaurissan being the one that pops in mind first, though Sylvanas Windrunner and Cairne Bloodhoof are prime examples as well. Being able to weave in a 4/3 on a turn where you have extra mana (and yes, being able to draw it with Tol'vir Warden helps tremendously with the top decks) is a huge tempo play as opposed to playing a 2/4 for 3 because of a single handbuff.
And honestly, a 4/3 for 1 is pretty ridiculous when you can play a 3/5, a 4/3, and an additonal 4/3 for 7 mana. Because reloading the board after a Flamestrike is incredibly powerful.

It does seem strong, but it clogs up your hand before and cant be used unless lethal is suspected. Worse than ice Block but still playable imo
