If they aren't going to allow chat mind as well take out emotes. Everything I have read/heard about emotes have been bad, linked to BM and sarcasm, so why keep it in? It doesn't even do anything or have any function. I personally squelch everyone I play instantaneously at the start.
2. Kripp is just, like, the cutest thing ever. I want to touch the Kripp. You want to touch the Kripp. We *all* want to touch the Kripp.
Thinking things you don't personally have a use for have no use and should be abolished.
1. Teletubbies.

Now, if you want to squelch people at the start of a game, that's your business. But if you want to say that businesses ought to make these broader decisions based on a few complaints - hey now. It's like walk into your local pizza joint and command them to only stock Mountain Dew Red. Probably ain't gonna fly, you know?

If you find my posts to be rude, objectionable, or whatever, well, I got tired of writing polite TL; DR (Too Long, Didn't Read) posts at crybaby whiners. So now I just make it short and nasty.
If you find that funny, well and good. If you find that sad, that's even better.

The better option is to substitute in more instrumental emotes like:
I'd prefer an option to just auto-squelch. When I'm running bad and someone goes "wp" i just wanna throw my keyboard.
1. Might wanna get that big throbbing vein on your forehead looked at. Little joke there.
2. They're spamming you to get a rise outta you. When I get emote spammed (if I forget to squelch), I'm just like "hey now. Kids. What can you do.", then I squelch em. It's just playground games, you know who gets teased on the playground - the kids that give a reaction. The kids that just look at you stone-faced, they're no fun.
3. Probably friggin wouldn't hurt me to get more worked up about stuff, but I dunno.

I actually wouldn't mind chat either, if the game had more StarCraft-esque chat options where you could opt to disable whispers from people that aren't on your friendlist.
Is there a reason why this needed to be a new thread rather than just a post that we could read (or, more likely, ignore) on the large "(BM) Bad Manner in Hearthstone" thread?

Close game!
Good play!
This would be good. Also, why not just allow optional chat (both players need to have it toggled on to work)?

Whole point of not having chat was so there is no BM. Yet the only thing that these emotes provide is some interpretation of sarcastic BM so I figured why not just remove them? Majority of us auto squelch anyways so emotes are useless. I agree, add an auto squelch feature.
From my Quake days (it was an FPS from the late 90's) the phrase was "I talk with my gun". The best response to smacktalk is a beatdown. Personally I would like chat, think it's odd that they don't have it.

I think it's a misconception that BM is the main reason for the lack of chat. The main reason is iPad. And their philosophy of simplicity in design. But mostly iPad.
Goes for every emote too... At least that's the way I see it, always with a Kappa at the end :| 3x Flamestrikes in a row "Sorry about that. Kappa". It can get annoying sometimes. Don't know why they were put in the game, honestly don't see their purpose but I guess Blizzard knows more than me.

I wouldn't mind an auto squelch toggle.

Why? There's a squelch command if you don't like emotes. Simple as that. They are then effectively removed. I squelch at the beginning of every match.
Poetic.

I would appreciate a chat option (with a toggle, default is off). It's the best game out there for chatting while playing.

They need a hurry the fuck up emote
I want a "Dick move!" emote.
