sigh... i just want to try out the mill druid deck in casual mode but im only facing hunters and mech mages. why the hell arent they playing ranked with those decks :O
Getting really fed up with this game on some levels. The amount of rush decks is just getting to me now. I've spent about £200 on this, I've got all the cards (more or less), and I've been playing card games for over 15 years so I'm very experienced in how to play them, yet I cannot get past rank 15 no matter what I do. Actually, I think I'm back to rank 17 now after a massive losing streak.
Fuck you Kezan Mystic. Three Face Hunters in a row and I insert Kezan Mystic (and generally tweak my Combo Druid deck for anti-aggro). Then all of my opponents aren't secret users, most aren't aggro. Take it out and revert my deck back to normal. Not only get Hunters but Mages too. A fricken Mech Mage plays a Mirror Entity (WTF?) and I quit. Put Kezan Back in. No secret users. I seriously hate this fucking card. By the end I was queuing up opponents and insta-conceding (how I rage).
5th game in arena being up 5-0 as a priest and im facing this paladin. At a turn later on he has 4 minions spawned, a 5-1 and a 6-1 and another weakish minion while i have a stealthed 5-5 tiger down. I decide to play a madder bomber as i never get better odds for him right? Well, 1st hit hits him in face, and you can guess where the last 5 hits were headed. Yes my 5-5 tiger died and i didnt kill any of his minions. The odds for 5 bombs to hit the tiger in a row is 1-7775. Somehow i still managed to pull through and win though, only for my run to get fucked by another paladdin with tyrion after ouplaying hi the next game
Hearthstone...the only card game I've ever played where going first was a huge disadvantage. I've been a WoW player for years, I know how little Blizz knows about balance. But, if you want to insist the coin is balanced, how about the player who wins the flip gets choice?
7 games in a row...7 turn 1 2/3 undertaker and a minion..no hex in sight.
And all the players calling the aggro players brainless...they at least have more intelligence than us since they know how to pick a winning (yet cheesy) deck.
Yep, definitely smarter...turn 1 coin, 2x arcane shot face, and win anyways...I must be the worst player ever
I played against a Druid in the arena who had Cairne bloodhoof , 2 swipes , FoN and Savage roar.I still managed to survive until he reached 1HP.now both of us have 0 card in hand,I topdeck apprentice ( I played with mage BTW) he topdecked ironbark protector, next turn I got worgen he got boulderfist ogre, last turn I played gurubashi berserker,he topdecked his third swipe and won the game.
imo arena needs to be completely reworked, i read some where that the average players who get 12wins is 1%. If thats true or if its even close then something is wrong. before nax i was getting around 6 wins, now ill be fortunate to get 3. Also the amount of gold obtainable is a complete joke. Blizz did a great job with this game but if you want some ideas to better it just ask, I can come up with decent ones off the top of my head. 1 Daily a day lmao now i know that was a joke especially when you're looking at 40 gold for 1 some days
Right now is ridicoulous 90% I'm facing in ladder is cancer hunter it's getting pretty annoying.
I'm sure it's not 90 % . I acknowledge the number of Hunter can be high these days at certain point on the ladder.
The key to not struggle in this kind of area is to tech your deck against this kind of meta. Your deck will respond pretty better with a few key cards, that just implying that Blizzard does something. They won't do a thing with Hunters... it's up to players to do something.
Zombie Chow - 2/3 for 1, trade fairly well with early threaths, enough said.
Sunfury Protector - Taunt giver, 2/3 2 mana cost, can be played early.
Sludge Belcher - Great stats for it costs. Annoying to deal with. Will usually temporize the board on your favor.

Than you should probably play a deck strong against hunter and enjoy your easy wins. But than there are probably warriors (90% i'm totally cerial!) and you'll be back and Q_Q about them.
If that statement would be true it would be INCREDIBLY easy to get to legend. I wish the ladder was as predictable as the OP claims it to be but in fact that is just not the case.
Control Warrior, Control Priest, Freeze Mage and occassionally even a Handlock and while i main Shaman at the moment which has a somewhat decent matchup against those games against aggro are just faster to win.
It's not the deck that will get you Legend. I have a friend, who's bad at the game, who is just struggling in rank 18 because he's making big mistakes with top tier decks I'm helping him craft.

Maybe he's on to something. I face hunter about 15% of the time this month (might even be an overstatement actually, not at home, can't check my stats), so going by law of averages... carry the 1, take the square root... No. I can't come anywhere close to anybody facing 90% of hunter, no matter how much I try to manipulate the numbers.

which top tiers? Some decks are much harder to use than others. Handlock with a player that makes mistakes often is a horrible deck as the moves are non-intuitive at times and one mistake can ruin you.
MANY top tier decks meanwhile can't be used at rank 18. The decks are made for a Legendary rank which tends to be more predictable and less rushy. Rank 18 ends up with a lot of odd decks between farmers with 'put 10 legendaries and I KNOW I"LL WIN HAHAHAHAHAH' decks, facerush decks and just general oddities.
Thus you'll want him to have a deck that's strong against the opponents he's facing and isn't that unforgiving. He needs to get the basics down beforehand.

Nope. He wants to play Handlock like I do. I've played handlock for about 50 % of my games this season so far and has brought me to rank 3 for the moment. Handlock is super easy to play. You just think and make the better play.

Have tried and still the decks that are supposed to be strong vs hunter struggle so much that if I win is with only a few life points left. Maybe I should play at another time, my last 5 games were hunter in a row.
You should think that maybe sometimes you are making stupid choices in your game-making decisions... and not just about Hunter...
It can be frustrating to face Hunter, but you won't face them 90 % of the time.

I don't know where you could find anything that would contradict that in my original post. Of course you are not going to have success if you are bad at the game regardless of which deck you are playing.
However given that you could have something like a 90% chance of playing against a hunter you would just need to tech out your deck to specifically win in that match up and proceed to get to legend.
Teching a deck against aggro is not only against Hunter. Zoo, MechMage and many others (like Combo Druid) require healing and early minions to trade. Simple. Stop complaining and get back to teching your deck to the proper meta.

Had an amazing priest arena deck and was currently 9-0.
Faced a paladin next game had played 4 truesilvers and 2 consecrates and had tirion.
I lost....
started another arena match...
PLAYED THE SAME DAMN GUY
I LOST AGAIN...
Out of spite I decided to see if this game hated my guts and queued again.
PLAYED THE SAME FREAKING GUY A THIRD TIME IN A ROW AND LOST TO THE ASHBRINGER FOR THE THIRD STRAIGHT GAME...
seriously blizz....
