I use emotes more to talk to my own minions then anything else. It's good for Dennis Rag when you tell him when he does a good job or scold him when he goes face with a mountain giant on the board. Bad! Bad Rag!
Whether RNG does or doesn't go in your favor a sarcastic 'Heh. My thanks' is usually in order.
I don't think it's a particularly new phenomenon. I haven't played since Hearthstone's inception mind you. Other Blizzard games seem much worse though to me however. Sc2, w3, WoW are host to more malevolent types on average I think. WoW especially, with people losing their minds and creating a character on your server after an arena match to send you weird, cryptic death threats.
I think people have a tendency to blow emotes out of proportion. We torture ourselves by imagining a sneering, smarmy, 14 year old in his pajamas, cackling to himself as he emotes 'well played' to our reluctant turn 3 pass. Emotes are by their very nature ambiguous, so we do not know precisely the spirit in which they are sent. People seem to by default take them deathly serious.
before GvG release I made a habit of, on my last turn before winning against a cancer hunter in a clearly one sided fight(because I built my deck to counter them), going rope and "sorry about that" every 10 seconds or so. I felt inclined to return the favor of making the game less enjoyable. I feel like when a deck is so overplayed that you can build a deck to counter it turn by turn by turn, every single turn warrants a "sorry about that", possibly even including the turn 1 pass.
They started it, but ah, maybe I should just grow up. Though I doubt anyone playing that deck was moved by my rude treatment, they were all bots anyway, right?
This topic comes up every week and I feel like I'm taking crazy pills every time.
Why are there so many people who consider "BMing" something worth so much *super serious* debate? How can so many people take 6 prerecorded sound clips *so* seriously? It's just some anonymous kid on the other end of the Internet, playing a game which has absolutely no consequence in your life whatsoever. Woo, he hit a button a few too many times. Take the win/loss and move on with your life, who cares?
You have been a member for 8 days, how would you know?
Huge percentages of people reading forums just lurk, man.
Type BM in search, it isn't a frequent topic.
It has been a pretty frequent topic since about a year ago. Died down recently since most people on this site have seen the Bad Manner (BM just reminds me of bowel movement!) threads and they literally go nowhere. Unfortunately all you do by creating threads like this is to make the people who have upset you happy if they find out. They want to make you upset and you have obliged them. I don't get the sensitivity around this game. You have about 15-20% of your games that you will win and 15-20% that you will lose. How you play in the 60-70% determine your skill and ability to play this game. Other than wasting a little of your time if someone let's their timer run how are these people really hurting you? It is just really hard for me to understand.
Also, welcome to the internets...bad people hang out here...

Welcome to the internet.... Wow, how young do you think I am?
It is amazing how you think that people bming is upsetting me, I play MOBAs, the land of whiny kids, try hard teens, trolls and flamers that can actually speak to you.

F2P players are not stingy or poor, we are cost efficient.
Playing casually these days (work), always happy to talk strategy and deck building.
What is so hard about any of this? Does this really need its own thread for the umpteenth time? Just greet them and squealch them afterwords. No emotes, no troubles, no salt. Just enjoy the game.
What is even more annoying are players that wait almost all time on their turns. Yes, you see them hovering over their cards, but just refuse to click that end turn button. And we can't do anything about it.
Most humans are terrible, greedy, selfish, narcissistic monsters. Once you accept that, you won't be as upset. Likely less than 5% of the population will even get near heaven.

Most humans are the exact opposite of that, but it's the loud minority that is noticed and because of that people have the impression that the majority are like that.
I think that some people take my playing all the cards I can even though I have lethal on the board as BM, where in reality I'm just trying to get all the experience I can from playing as many cards as I can.
I tend to get a few "threaten" emotes while I'm playing the extra cards but I'm not trying to BM, just gain experience!

If you have all of this experience then you know that the larger a following an online game gets the more trolls come out. It obviously does bother you or else you would not have made a thread about it. Hit squelch and move on.

WOW the sensitivity in this thread is embarrassing. I worry for the fate of the human race when they get butt hurt over pre-set emotes.
Anyone who squelches is a wussy. The only time squelch should be used is if some wanker is spamming emotes every 2 seconds.
God forbid games have some banter.
That's what happens when Battle.Net doesn't allow you to chat
I auto squelch all my opponent anyways. There's honestly no point in talking unless there is 2v2 or 3v3 mode

Players with Annoy o Tron are often spamming hello. It's awkward.

Now you too can pretend you're playing MTG!

Really. You just follow the rules any pro player who isn't a BM fan himself follows. If you're playing
Hunter, Mage, Priest, Paladin, Warlock. Rogue [Auto-Squelch]
Warrior, Shaman, Druid [Greetings, followed by Auto-Squelch]
Simple really.
