I can promise you that starting any discussion with this title is instantly deemed a meme.
There are people that say this, every expansion, in every card game, ever.
It's emotional as hell, especially 1 day in.
^^this. I’ve been playing since TGT and “this is the worst meta ever” happens every expansion. Not to discount what you’re saying, because I have noticed some frustrating elements as well, but I think that the “worst meta ever” will always belong to those first hours of AOO where DH could kill the opponent and draw their deck in about 4 turns consistently.
For this meta, I agree with you that Snake is kind of bananas. I have heard some people say it’s not OP, which maybe it is and maybe it isn’t, but it’s definitely one of those “feels horrible to play against” cards and Blizz tends to nerf those pretty consistently.
The problem with Snake lock is similar to any and all combo OTK decks.
You either play it, or play decks that beat it, which is why un-interactive OTK decks will always be extremely unpopular.
They warp the meta in such a way that there is no room for anything in between. No late game deck can exist in a space where the most popular deck is one that always beats it, and those said control decks are the ones that beat the Snake lock counters.
The snake is a strong card, but excavate warlock loses to dragon Druid, aggro DH and pure pally. If you want to beat warlock, try one of those decks. Highlander decks are a big miss, so are shaman and mage. The meta is still developing, but if you’re counting on dirty rat, you should try a different deck.

Pure pally? You mean a list that uses the weapon and attack buff? Because minion-based pure pally loses consistently I feel like. Warlocks have insane removal
It's pretty frustrating in wild - The excavate setup takes a while to set up for Warlock so as Druid I've always drawn my Duke by the time the have the snake but so far out of 5 games, I've whiffed every single damn time. It's the same with Quest Mage. Even did it twice in one game but missed both times.

I mean the one that has free gardens grace smack you in the face. The one that runs almost nothing but divine shield minions and board buffs to replenish them. There’s no disco mail in the new lists. Look it up, they are everywhere now mopping up warlocks who can’t excavate with smokestacks because of divine shield. Warlocks have a lot of damage based removal and pally can easily overwhelm them with divine shields. Deputization aura, holy cowboy and hi-ho silver wing are excellent cards in this matchup. The goal is to kill them with the snakes or make a board so big that they can’t kill it. I’ve had warlock play a snake, bounce it back to hand and then concede against a full board from dragon Druid. Azerite snake is strong, no doubt, but it is far from the tyrant that it’s made out to be. It beats almost every Highlander deck because they are pretty bad. It beats mage and rogue excavate decks because they are pretty bad. It beats control priest and warrior because they are horrendous. Whatever deck you’re playing, look at it before you blame the snake. If it has Reno, renathal or dirty rat, it’s bad.

High roll on that Dirty Rat or bust.
I'm curious what other peoples thoughts are so far with this expansion. There's a LOT of gg cards you can't interact with and it feels miserable.
Play reno DH. No seriously, it's hilarious to kill off every bounce card and potentially even the snake in the warlock's hand.
