I just started a new account for the Murloc Hero and wow. The experience is horrible. They did cut all the free packs and quests they had in the game. So no free Cthun, no free MsoG packs and not a single Ungoro pack. I expected they kept all them until the sets rotate out of standard. At least some free Ungoro packs. Nothing! You will get 3! packs at least.
Instead they release 3 sets a year and raised the pack prices. Thats definitely a sign theyre not interested in new players anymore and instead going to milk the existing players as much as they can. Market research probably showed they wont gain much more new players.
After the first 20 games or something you will also paired against players who definitely opened a bunch of packs. Thanks to the powercreep against around 10 Ungoropacks you wont win a single game anymore.
Well, you do get a bunch of stuff for free and continue to do so with no limit to it really other than time. Perhaps they'll increase the amount of it, but asking for a complete top tier deck for free the first weeks you play is just silly.
The game needs to make money in some way. The people who work needs to eat as well.
So put some money into the game for an early top tier deck or give it a bit more time, lets say a month. There is no need to ask for 1/10 of the total collection to be yours within such a short period of time.
It's not that hard, i've made an Asia account and after opening couple of decks i've crafted a deck and reached rank 14 in 30 games. And you do get 3 Un'Goro packs. Atleast i did, 3 days ago.
the new player experience is horrible, but they didn't remove free c'thun, just buy one wotog pack and you'll get him + some minions
ok, good to know.
nobody expects a toptier deck after a bunch of plays. but at one point the game definitely had more free stuff for new players. And if you think the game makes barely enough profit to help the devs get food your a stupid *****
Indeed it's bad. But you know what's worst thing for the new players? They are afraid to disenchant. They don't know which cards are good and which are bad. So they have a tons of card that they will probably never use and they are afraid to disenchant them. Blizzard should introduce some feature that allows you to see how much play a certain card sees, like we have here. They should add it to the game itself.
idk, disenchanting cards is bad long term. Dusting commons and rares is pretty useless anyway, because of the low value. And dusting epics and legendaries can feel bad when the card becomes playable later. like the murloc crab, which i dusted back then in classic.
but the matchmaking feels horrible like pay2win in casual

And you expected easy free stuff from 1 year ago? You're nuts. There are plenty of things that can be done to get10+ free packs starting an account. Then go to arena, git gud in it and get a lot of packs, dust and gold.
Or go the ea$ier way.
In physical (and some online) TCG/CCG you need to use money to start playing (MTG, Yugioh, for example)

In physical cardgames I can actually make money by buying cards.
Every other online cardgame has probably more rewards for active players.
