Hey guys! This is my future pirate expansion. i hope i will get to hear your opinions about the cards. (Aplogozies in advance for my terrible English).
so, this is a Pirate expansion- all about these though characters that are sailing even now all over Azeroth. And what are Pirates without treasure you may ask? uncool. So, these guys will do everything in their power to find a big stack of shiny Dubloons:
these golden beauties do everything The Coin does, (apart from interacting with minions like Gadetzan Auctioneer or Archmage Antonidas - that will limit my design space here a lot, and i just dont want to see these cards ruling the meta). These Dubloons are also very tradeable- they interact with cards like this one:
Cards with Pay Up have additional effects when played while you have a Dubloon in your hand. When you play a card with Pay Up, you Discard a Dubloon from your hand and the card with Pay Up gets a powerful Bonus.
This Crumbling Ship, for example, is just waiting to be repaired and to be to card slaying machine it once was for the pirate crew. With the help of a little treasure, the old ship will be just like new.
check the spoiler below for 8 more cards :)
wow! A pirate for shaman. This guy has been leading his ship through many storms, and would gladly help Thrall to deal with a little lightning. Its pretty challenging to keep the Storm Handler alive, but once it get to attack once you gain great momentum of possibly endless turns without Overload. Also, Pirate buffs are real.
A little, Common, Boogeymonsterthat is much much better and much much cheaper. If this girl kills only 1 minion, its already a 4/6 for 4. This should be a great card for newer players.
The new Pirate lord, much better than Southsea Captain (In my opinion). He is a little slow, and you need to draw pirates while you play him (so he should be better in a minion heavy deck)- but once He effects a few Pirates he becomes pretty great, as the buff lingers even after the Insane Skipper dies. Its a pushed card, i would say, but i think pirates deserve a good lord.
A good addition to any crew of pirates. helps you to get to stronger minions faster or to activate Pay Up more reliably.
A Cheaper, Riskier and Crazier Mind Control. It would be very cool to trade a 1/1 forYsera. Possibly imbalanced- im looking for suggestions on this one.
Druid just got Huge Toad even bigger! This beast might just be strong enough to get to be played.
This is a pretty interesting spell. You lose tempo when you play it but it has a lot of uses: Restoring the minion's health to full, reactivating battlecries and acting as a pretty big buff. It could be crazy on a Argent Squire - restoring the Divine Shield and getting a 4/4 for 3. This card may be a little too strong but its hard to tell.
Even angels want the shiny stuff from time to time. Pay them well, and they will protect your ships and ensure a safe sail.
Beware The Sharks- Another race on this expansion is the Shark Pepole (I dont have a good name for them :( ) These are Strong, Brutal and Bloody protectors that allign only with the fiercest of Pirates, and often for a price. Take a look at 2 of them:
This shark will become much stronger once it smells blood. A Fen Creeper with a big Enrage for 1 more mana. is it worth it? Probably yes. I would love to see it in Taunt Warrior.
If you pay this guy some Dubloons, he can be very strong- 7/7 with taunt for 5 mana- But getting the gold to pay him might be hard and it is then only an uninspiring 5/5. I can see this card played in a constructed deck easily, and i think he is a very nice (and less sticky) replacement for Sludge Belcher.
Dark deeds- Not all of the Pirates are friendly to the Heroes of Warcraft- some of them are quite dark and mysterious, drinking and gambling inside the darkest parts of the ship. They will do anything for gold and they dont care where it comes from: From murderers, to troggs and even the devil itself. Will you try to befriend them? Just click the spoiler and meet them yourself.
Derek Zaine loves taking risks. He made his career from gambling about life- and death, and winning all the time (In really fair ways, yes?). Put him in your deck and he will help you get some dubloons (or kill you) and make you win a lot (or lose it all) and have fun (if Derek has fun than you have fun as well). Just don't get on the wrong side of him.
Yes, warlock, the devil is just the person to make deals with. Pay him good, and he will happily curse ALL MINIONS FOREVER!!
A pushed powerful removal spell for Rouge pirate decks. I think its nessecary for Rouge to have crazy single target removal as it fits their class's team very well. Also, with Whispers of the Old Gods and cards like Crumbling Ship from this expansion being very big, i wanted to design cards that will trade with them 1 for 1 cheaply.
what do you think about the cards? The theme? The mechanics? Would you want to see more? Im having a blast right now designing the cards and i have very good ones (In my opinion) that i made.
This is to an expansion, what taking your socks off is to a Strip tease. But Anyway the cards. Well, i made over 30 cards until now (planning 100+) I am going to upload like 5 more right now. Happy dolphin is simultaniusly Op and UP. I agree,Im unsure about its design as well, i think i will make it a 1/6.
The doubloon idea is alright, but very limited with what it can be used with as there is very little pirate art.
Crumbling ship is either alright or Concede-Inducing. Well, at best its a 6 mana 10/10 (without an immediate effect) that you lost tempo for while getting the Dubloon. Its just a strong, big minion and if big minions like this become relevent just use hard removal like Assassinate [/card]or[card]Polymorph. I think encouraging slow hard removal spells is great for hearthstone. I just compare it to Drakonid Crusher, a card that doesnt see any play because it suffers from the same weaknessess.
Storm Handler is just plain OP I dont agree on that one either, i mean, how often do you get to attack with a 5/4? I honestly dont even think it will be played much after a small test period. Think about Savage Combatant- also a 5/4 with a relevent tribe and even more of an immediate effect- it doesnt see (almost) any play. Also, shaman still needs love.
Naga Slayer is awful. Think about it, you take a minimum of 1 damage when attack a decent minion. It's basically just at best a +1 attack. Yes, i agree, but it was meant to be a common filler minion and arena card, not to change the meta.
Insane Skipper is alright as it can be killed easily.
first of all thank you for your comment
I replied to your concernes about the cards and hopefully you are not mad at me for disagreeing with you about most of them :P anyway, Im glad that someone replied and if you still think im wrong about Crumbling Ship and Storm Handler let me know
I really like this - the Doubloon effect and Pay Up is very flavorful, and the pirate synergies are fairly unique.
Happy Dolphin could stand to be a 1/6, or even a 1/5 with its effect.
I appreciate your attempt to make Boogeyman good, but nothing can make that card good. It's not just you - nobody can fix that card.
The Pay Up effects could stand to be nerfed a little bit, considering how easy it is to get them. Maybe Pay up gives the ship +3/+3, or have the rogue removal's pay up discount upped to 2.
Save the Drowning and Gigantic Toad are quite valuable cards - though StD could stand to be a +2/+2 buff instead. (just realized that the initials for that card are STD... no comment.)
Ship of Angels is a seriously solid card - I think you're starting to really get the hang of this pay up thing. Derek Zaine is a solid card, too.
Devil's Deal is very interesting - I'm not sure as to whether it's good or bad. It has potential, but you couldn't hit face with the extra damage, so that's kind of bad - however, it does synergize VERY well with warlock abilities like Implosion and token cards like Imp Master.
