Right now Twisting Nether sucks because against aggro you have no time to play it as a board reset because it's too expensive. If you've survived until turn 8 odd are you don't want to clear the board and pass the turn; you'd like to play a taunt/heal and some removal. Against control Twisting Nether doesn't really work either because if you're using it to reset the board you're effectively using 8 mana to take 2 Boom Bot deathrattles to the face and they'll still have a 1/2 slime on the board.
So what if it was just a complete board clear that removed the minions from the match entirely, like something a twisting nether might do...
To be clear I mean that it wouldn't proc deathrattles but would still act the same as a normal twisting nether otherwise. Would it see play in a control meta as a tech/counter or would it still be bad?
Something doesn't "suck" just because it can be used in rare scenarios. Using that logic Grim Patron is possibly the worst card in the game, being that it can used in very specific scenarios.
It's funny how in MTG cards like Twisting Nether can potentially shape the meta since resetting the board is such a powerful effect. But in hearthstone no one gives a fuck lol
On one hand; compare Hellfire to Consecration, for one more damage you need to hit your own side as well, but it seems balanced.
On the other hand; compare Flamestrike to Twisting Neither, for one mana and the need to hit your own side as well, you go from 4 damage to infinite, so the card seems fair.
I think the reason that no one will ever use it, is that Shadowflame is just so overpowered in comparison, it is cheaper and has synergy with so many cards.

because HS is way more tempo based than MTG is because of how much of a timer you're put on as early as turn 1 when things can just face hit you all day
Also, I dont like the three options for voting. Seriously? a) its bad, b) its only a little bad, c) it's probably a little bad.
Twisting Nether is a good card. Clear an entire board of all minions? That's a game changing effect, unlike Recycle which costs too much for something that does very very little. If Nether was like, 5-cost all you'd see where deathrattle and Nether decks.

MTG is not class-limited in term of deck design. Hearthstone is. Never compare Hearthston to MTG, they are two different card games.

It would be theoretically playable if it read "Silence and destroy all minions"...
then summon a Void Walker.
I don't think anything that costs 8 mana would ever be a good aggro counter. It would be better if it totally cleared the board though.
Have a great deck that's really, really cheap? Help the new players out
I actually really like this. If it were something like 7 mana and read as you described I think it could see play.

Isn't that the perfect reason to boost a card into playability, especially one that has no intrinsic novelty (IE Angry Chicken/Nozdormu etc.)?
I mean it's a card that has massive potential.

But it do have the most awesome animation EVER!
