how many argent protector can you have ? with cobal all mechs becomes protectors ... think longer term ... a card doesnt have to be unbeatable, it have to have good usage and potential ... belcher was staed to be bad, as a senjin with goldshire footman, but you can see that it is in almost all decks now ...

(sorry for any missssssspels - not a native english speaker + fat fingers)
This is a Google Translate result, so take it with a grain of salt, but here's a line from the original article:
It is certainly an interesting addition; especially if you combine it with the Blood Knight, as there meccas with very low mana cost. It is also a good defensive card against damage to all creatures
This implies that it gives each mech summoned after divine shield. Not sure if that's better or worse at first blush.
If this is the case and it gives divine shield to every subsequent mech you play it would be better but it still isn't a turn 5 drop. Not to mention if this is the case I can't understand why his stats aren't 3/6 instead of 6/3.......without divine shield protecting him he is pretty vulnerable to cheap removal. If his effect is the inverse and he gains divine shield every time another mech comes into play then he (like a lot of other cards in the set....so far) is an extremely "perfect situation" card that, like others have said, could either be straight value or just easily removed. One thing to note about the expansion so far......the wording on most of these cards is extremely obscure and vague......if you ask me it's kind of frustrating because most of the current discussions about these cards are just attempting to disseminate the wording.......*sigh*
to be honest most of the card from GVG that are revealed so far are total crap if not 90% of them, compared to the 30 cards from naxxramas which are extremly good and valuable ,don't get me wrong maybe they will introduce some better cards but by what i have seen so far i doubt it,so what i am trying to say is Quality over Quantity,They could have made 50 extremely good and needed cards for certain classes instead of making 120 card from which only 30 or so will ever be played
You also get divine shield from any mech you summon. That means you can get if from a harvest golem's deathrattle among a few other things. I think it's an ok card since if you are behind it's pretty bad alone on the board. If you are slightly ahead then you will just win the game if they can't deal with it. I can see this being used in a somewhat tempoish mech paladin.
The discussion is pointless until we know if it gives itself divine shield when summoned.
If it doesn't then there are only a handful of scenarios where it's not complete and utter trash.
If it does then it's gonna be pretty annoying to deal with.
Also I was hoping for more synergies for paladin with this expansion, however the anti synergy with this card and SoJ, enabling big game hunter is the complete wrong direction.
"obtiene" is an ambiguous verb in this context. It isn't really clear if the "it" that is receiving Divine Shield is the Guardian or the other mech.
I ran one particular paragraph of the Spanish article through Babylon translate. I've pasted the result below with hilighting on the important bit:
"Its cost is a little high and low resistance surely means that you must protect the Guardian of cobalt with a protector Argenta or with a hand of protection. Whatever the case, it is valuable that a creature is capable of granting bonuses to other henchmen, even when they are invoked after."
That pretty clearly says that the author of the article, an apparently native Spanish speaker, believes that the Guardian *grants* Divine Shield to other mechs.
That, of course, is a whole other ball of wax from giving itself Divine Shield when other mechs are summoned.
"cada vez que invocas un meca, ese esbirro obtiene Escudo divino" = "each time you invoke a mech , that minion gets Divine Shield"
That is from the original article, however the card text itself isn't clear whether it's the summoned minion or the Cobalt that get's the shield.
My suspicion is that it's the Cobalt that gains the Divine shield and the reason is the wording on it is the same as in Undertaker
Given the same wording I would bet on the same effect, the article on the site however states otherwise. To be sure you'll just have to wait for the "official" release.

The translation I'm getting has this: "It is a mecca henchman type costs 5 mana, has 6 damage, 3 of life and a knack interesting: each time you invoke a mech, this minion gets Divine Shield. Meet the Keeper of cobalt."
That makes it sound like it gets the divine shield.
Im a native spanish speaker. The article writer says this card gives divine shield to the mechs subsequently summoned, not itself. He even suggests protecting it with an argent protector, dropping a ton of mechs next turn and then using blood knight. The text of the card is ambiguous and poorly phrased and its hard to tell if the card gains divine shield or gives divine shield. We'll see.
I play the game in english, the spanish translation is extremely poor in most cases.

The article writer is wrong and didn't read the card text carefully.

So, it's not just my rusty high school Spanish that's causing me to read that card and scratch my head in confusion? :-p
Maybe someone should twitter up Ben Brode for the English text.
People, please read carefully. It says "Obtain" in the card text. There is no ambiguity here.
The English text at the top of the thread is a translation of the Spanish text. It's not the literal English text that Blizzard is going to print on the English version of the card.
"obtiene" may *sound* like "obtain" but it is not literally that word. In any case, the problem is not the verb, it's the conjugation. It's not clear whether the card doing the "obtaining" is the Guardian or the other Mech. The person who did the localization was either being very terse or else that person was not a native speaker and was being less-than-accurate.
Although, even a "Ping-Frostbolt" is still 5 mana + 1 card, so an even trade.
And if weapon classes ping it, that's 5 damage to the face, THEN a dead minion to clear it. That's a net positive scenario.
Then if it survives to turn 2, and you can RE-shield it, that's huge value.
This card could really be the single "heavy" support for a mech oriented aggro paladin.
It's biggest problem is getting that shield out when you lay it though...

When life gives you lemons, trade'em for limes and get some Coronas!

If one is to make it viable, it has to be paladin aggro with secrets so this guy can stay on board for more than 1 turn.
Thanks for proving me that you hate the Paladin class Blizzard.
A Kidnapper is what we needed.
Hmmm...

evry current 5 drop meta beats this trash card.

I too can see into the future.
Ben Brode has confirmed on twitter that the guardian gets the divine shield. https://twitter.com/bdbrode/status/535130162480680960
