Could be better than Curious Glimmerroot. I'd say pretty fair trade. Most times you're not really getting something you want. And you still get the 3/3 body with some kind of benefit. You could even copy their minion. (charge, deathrattle, etc.)
As it happens Taldaram was the first legendary I got in KFT (lucky me right) so I've given some thought to how to use him. There is a variation on Razakus priest that uses Velen, Mirage Caller, and a bunch of 0 mana cards to OTK your opponent. Once Mirage Caller rotates out Taldaram could be used as a replacement to keep the combo alive. That is genuinely the best use I've thought of for Taldaram - a bad replacement to keep a bad deck whole (but still worse) months from now.
The issue is even if you have a deck/ class that doesn't need any 3 cost cards (currently none of them) Taldaram is still just a slightly cheaper but noticeably worse faceless manipulator you can only run 1 copy of. It's just a really terrible card. I'd say dust it but if, like me, you're still after death knights from packs you'd just be opening yourself up to the crippling disappointment of finding him in a pack for the second time.

I have only used Taldaram in Druid...it was ok.You just need to have something good on board to be worth playing Taldaram and I feel the only class that can skip 3 cost cards, play big(and good) minions fast and draw Taldaram when you need it is Druid.I probably wouldn't use it in priest decks and the main reason is shadow word death,it's not a card you can skip just for the possibility to play a "good" 3/3,it's too big a trade off!

"I will tell you what Velen never taught me.Whosoever stands before the light...inevitably casts a shadow."
Taldaram is quite possibly the worst in priest, because Mirage Caller does the same thing but without the restriction, and that you can put two of them in your deck.
Mirage caller doesn't copy opponents minions. And on turn 3 dropping a 1/1 version of something is not very strong. Dropping a 3/3 Righteous Protector is not that bad.

Still, would you trade shadow word death, acolyte of pain, glimmerroot and many other 3 cost cards for a 3/3 righteous protector(or a 3/3 whatever)? The important 3 cost cards for priest are too many to trade for something uncertain!

Turn 3 Righteous doesn't seem bad. What about in Pally? Could be a solid tempo card most the time. Can't really run it in Murloc Pally tho, Warleader is too important. Maybe in handbuff Pally, you top deck it and it just becomes a second copy of your most op Minion.
What makes this card good?
What about a Blood of the Ancient one meme deck. You would need two coins in Druid or Rogue but meh, it's possible a two turn kill...
You're right, dropping a 3/3 righteous protector is better. However, there isn't many minions that are worth copying aside from that during turns 1-3 except for Loot Hoarder and Righteous Protector. It is unfair to say that it is just a 1/1, as you get a 2/3 with it. Plus, you could play Curious Glimmerroot or Acolyte of Pain against the Righteous Protector and it would be still very strong. If you are relying on your enemies to provide synergy for your card, then it becomes really unreliable and frankly only powerful against Paladin.
Shaman - Lotus Illusionist it would go form a 3-drop straight to a 6-drop, White Eyes is pretty good, Lots of totems (flametohgue, Primalfin, basics) aren't horrible I guess,, What is the evolve synergy?
Mirage Caller, but where WOULD Prince Taldaram work instead?
Hp (2) + Velen Hp (4) + Taldaram Hp (8) = 14 dmg, with a zero mana spell your up to 22 dmg
He can also work as a second Radiant Elemental to give a 0-mana machine gun from a hand of 1-2 cost spells
He can be a 2nd Lyra in awkward situations where you are low on fuel for card generation
He can dupe a Northshire in the mirror to get you to your combo faster
Or he can be a Pyromancer or Thalnos to clear a board of cheap threats.
I don't have him on my main account but if you try it out let me know if it feels ok

I better thread is "What possible use is there Prince Taldaram because I got nothing."
Mind Blast + Holy Smite are better than Prince Taldaram/Mirage Caller

I think Mirage Caller for Priest is strictly better because of the lack of restriction.
Now, I'm thinking outside of Priest. What would make this card good?
Pre Innervate Nerf I would think Malygos Druid had some potential...or even Blood of the Ancient One
So the biggest you can copy without a coin on the same turn is 7-mana
(Archmage Antonidas/Cairne Bloodhoof)
Skelemancer, Cobalt Scalebane, Dinosaur Egg are pretty good hits
Quest Mage lol? uhhh...probably not no secrets lol
Solid active effects
Rogue - Sherizan, Jade Swarmer, Aya,
Hunter - Putricide, Secretkeeper, Knife Juggler lol, Savannah highmane, Scavaging Hyena, Kindl
Shaman - Lotus Illusionist it would go form a 3-drop straight to a 6-drop, White Eyes is pretty good, Lots of totems (flametohgue, Primalfin, basics) aren't horrible I guess,, What is the evolve synergy?
