Since the release of KFT I have been having ferocious discussions with some friends of mine regarding the card I believe to be the most long-time overrated card in history of Hearthstone: The Lich King.
Basically I have been saying that the card is not as good as people think, and that eventually everyone was going to drop using it on their decks in favor of actual playable cards, but I was constantly being talked back by my friends saying that I was completely wrong and that it was seeing play.
As the HCT tournament and lists got revealed, everyone (but me) was surprised The Lich King isn't being run in even the most controllish and greedy of the decks.
While I admit TLK is indeed a finisher, those exist in Hearthstone in abundancy, and there are just way too many cards that are better than TLK. So, while you can use it in your deck since saying it "sucks" is just me exagerating it is no where near as good as many people made it out to be or still do.
I mostly agree. It is not a Dr. Boom kind of Legendary. I think it will see its play as a finisher in certain decks. And in those decks The Lich King will be of good use. But in the beginning of the expansion we saw The Lich King in just every deck and thats where he "sucks".
I agree it isn't as strong as people say, however I have found success with it and if you're playing druid and have an ironbark, its just a better version. I think it'll stick around in certain niche decks.
if you hadn't included the bolded part i'd take issue with you, but minus the exaggeration that's been basically my thought since he was revealed as well. i don't think he's bad by any means - indeed, he can potentially be insane; but that's something you can say about a lot of cards - but the DK cards are very hit and miss. only a couple are good in basically any situation while most of them have serious drawbacks or are potentially unplayable. so overrated, yep. but i think there are many cards that have been way more overrated. not a must-craft or a must-include but certainly playable in many mid-to-control decks.

What I said when I mentioned "long time overrated" is that people are still saying its OP or #1 card in the game. I even saw a Hearthhead guide posted today saying its the "Tier S best legendary in the game" which was the reason I made this post in the first place: People haven't realized it is not that good yet
The lich king isn't as good as I had hoped but he certainly doesn't suck. His mileage really varies based on the deck he's being played in and the cards he gives you. Some decks can utilize every card he gives you where decks like big priest has terrible synergy cards such as army of the dead.
I feel that Ysera is overall better simply because her cards are more reliable and there are fewer to pull from. But the lich king has a few cards that blow Ysera out of the water. Anti magic shell is just insane and frostmourne is also amazing given the circumstances.
He's a good card and he can give you a clutch card when it counts. But depending on the deck you play, he may also just give you unplayable garbage. At the worst, he's an 8 Mana 8/8 taunt and that's actually not that bad.
The problem with the lich king is not that it's always a bad card - It's that it's sometimes a bad card. With a card like Ysera no matter what you get you'll probably be able to put it to use somehow. The lich king is a whole different story. Getting f.e. an anti-magic shell when you have almost no board is basically a dead card, but if he lands you a death's grip and steals tirion you'd probably call him overpowered. A card whose performance is heavily influenced by RNG isn't a good card nor is it a bad card.
I must admit I was surprised how they handled him, I thought because of the hype of being one of (if not the most) renowned characters in Warcraft, he would either be ridiculously overpowered or they would throttle him to being useless. But as it is, he's a decently balanced card which will find a place in midrange-control decks for quite some time.
But personally, I am not a fan. Far too often he's giving me Doom Pact, which more often than not just sits in my hand for the entire game.
It's Doom Pact and Army of the Dead which spoil the Lich King, too often they will just sit in your hand until the game is done. The other cards are fine, not too strong but they don't have the potential to lose you a game.
Looking at Ysera, if you get the worst outcome (Laughing Sister), at least you have a good value minion that's not going to destroy a significant chunk of your deck.

Golden Heroes:
Warlock
Druid
Warrior
Sucks at what ?
Tournament decks usually feature cards that don't see much play in constructed and don't feature the cards that do. Lich King is a great control card.
Yeah sure, Ysera sucks too in that case.

It's a card that must be dealt with and is why Black Knight is even tech'd right now

removing from all decks, the pool of cards is too large and guess what: you always get the most shitty one... (if you aren't my opponent of course)

That's Incredible!
Is the Lich King good? Yes!
Is the Lich King the most overrated card in a long time? Yes, because people did expect him to be the next Boom.

it is very good card and very powerful
Depending on the matchup the lich king cards can be unplayable so half the time you're just playing an 8 mana 8/8 which is terrible
Yessss I knew it was smart to hold off on crafting him.
Haven't run him in a week, and I'm doing better overall now because of it. Half the time you get a crappy card that's in your hand until you're dead.
Dibbity don't touch that!
