Do you feel the same? I was expecting him to be the one of the weakest gods, but I've just tried to put him into heavy ramp deck. Most of the time he will pull something like 6/8 taunt, and his statline is great on it's own, while his ability is repetitive. So he is both huge threat and meatshield, and tempo-win in a right deck.
And yeah, it's much like other gods, requires some devotion to it. Like deathrattles in N'zoth deck, C'thun buffers in C'thun deck, spells in Yogg deck, Y'Shaarj requires all your minions to be big and good, even without battlecries.
The reason that Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound is commonly hailed as a bad card is because, unlike the other old gods, who have many deck that are augmented by their power, Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound fits in only ramp druid (So far :P). He is indeed quite powerful there though.
Also, I agree with the previous commentor, while Master Jouster is a good card, the risk that Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound pulls it is hard. A good replacement would likely be Sunwalker, also consider addingCenarius. I'd also recommend Mire Keeper for MOAR RAMPS

Priest. Where all of your games are mirror matches!
Master Jouster is the weakest thing you can pull from Y'Shaarj, but that's not bad actually. 5/6 is a good stat. For comparison, Ancient of War comes as 5/5, Aviana 5/5. And the good thing: it works with the same condition Y'Shaarj works, just in reverse. When you have high curve minions (and lowest is 6 here) - you have sick chances to trigger battlecry and get tempo.
Mire Keeper didn't prove to be effective. It ramps 4->6 mana, but when you take it over Master Jouster - you have too little 6-drops to play after it. And it screws Y'shaarj. Nourish is still better.
Naga Sea Witch can be an option too. Problem here it's still worse than Nourish, as it will literally never survive a turn. It's a soft taunt 5/5, while Master Jouster 1 mana higher 5/6 divine shield taunt. The only way it's better is how you can play it for free on t10.
If you doom it, you can lose it to fatigue. You know, double Naturalize :)
And it survives one AoE for sure. You can put so many minions out of Aviana in one turn that it's not even funny. And if you expect AoE, you just keep her and play your cards at one/turn pace.

Not sure the Master Jousters fit there... if Y'Shaarj pulls them they're just vanilla 5/6 with no effect.
I've been thinking about trying Y'shaarj though so thanks for putting something together!
