It's cute, but the deck doesn't really need a finisher like that.
It's the same problem with this card in any fatigue deck is that you'd rather have more cards to get to your win condition sooner or safer. This does neither.
You would also rather mill cards out of their deck if possible and losing a candle from that process would kill the spot on your board.
What I was thinking was saving this card for when they are fatigued and getting a 20/20 on their next turn when they are out of options. Or several if you have been shuffling multiple copies into your deck.
I was actually thinking of this the other day, but quickly dispelled it because of the same issue as pointed out. Dead Man Warrior really focuses on surviving to fatigue so you can just grind out your opponent with Mill/Fatigue, I feel like while The Darkness may act as a 2nd win condition in the deck, the deck list most DMH Warriors run is so finite that there really isn't room for it. I'm already racking my brain trying to see what can be replaced in my current DMH deck that isn't too important that can be cycled, I highly believe the only card that will make the move into DMH warrior will be that new destroy all armor and deal it to minions card as control once Sleep with the Fishes cycles out. I'd much rather see if room can be made for Geosculpter Yip before The Darkness because Yip dodged a lot of removal, especially being 4 attack in a priest meta. Maybe the new Unidentified Shield card can fit into DMH, but I really see The Darkness turning into just a meme card.
Do you think The Darkness will be run competitively against priest in wild? I only play wild.
Honestly probably not, I can't see much use for this card competitively, only use I can think of thats in the realm of possibilities is against Razakus Priest, and even that's a stretch. It'll be a fun meme card that'll work every now and then but as of now its just seems to niche/slow for the current meta in both standard and wild
Twilight Acolyte is played, giving the priest a 20/4 and you a 2/20. On my turn, I Void Ripper, which makes my card a 20/2 for 20 face damage (and the priest gets a 4/20, and he better be dead before he plays Inner Fire).
I've played Mill Rogue ever since I figured it out (when Gang up was released) and I would never play The Darkness in the deck. It's slow, clunky and kills itself when you make powerful mill plays. (The Candles get milled and you never get the card into play).
The opponent will simply save a card to kill it and that's it. It's not a very good card. I'd rather be playing Fal'dorei Strider in a Mill deck.
The Darkness probably wont see play as a 4 mana do nothing card. Playing it when your opponent is in fatigue already is ambitious as you have to get them there in the first place to reap the reward. Which is silly. Just play more cards to get you to winning.

2/4 priest acolyte is waiting for your juicy 20/20

What if Priest ran The Darkness against mill rogue?
