The problem lies in Nefarians early mana advantage which can quickly spiral out of control.
Yes Ragnaros has Whirling Ash and Living Lava - but Nefarian has Chromatic Drake and Dragonkin Hatcher. Due to the mana they can be played the turn before Ragnaros can play either of them and their stats let them trade favourably into both.
I read somwhere data saying that overall Rag has around 38% win ratio. So it confirms that Nefarian is better, but also shows that it's not broken what people claim. It would be obviously very hard to make 2 completely different decks with similar win ratios (45-55 for example), so I find 38% for a worse class very satisfying. Another thing is Rag requires much more skill to win, so taking all newbies and bad players who are forced to play Rag and obviously loose, it becomes even better. One more aspect is that some people use Brawl as a way of farming gold now and they auto concede when game gives them Rag, because farming as Nefarian is much easier. So considering all newbies, bad players and auto-scoopers and the fact that Rag is objectively a bit worse, 38% win ratio is very nice and both decks are balanced. Amen.
So what win rate do you consider broken then?
50/50 is balanced, but even 55/45 is already a highly favoured win ratio. 60/40 is an indicator of high imbalance. And 38% is an even lower number than 40 if you are not familiar with the basics of mathematics.
that's pretty much all i need to know. sure, if i get PERFECT draws and he gets completely cold decked, it is possible, but for anyone to claim it is "balanced" is just ridiculous.
ps - i grinded 500 wins with CW, so dont try to tell me i dont know how to play a late game deck
Unless Nefarian gets the 3 mana less dragon early it might even favor Rag. Of course it depends on the hero spells nef draws as well. People just didn't know how to play Rag in the beginning.
I just won with Rag with 37 health left and that's with a few misplays. Make sure you use your hero power and weapon every turn. Then with one charge left on the weapon you get 2 hero powers that turn. Summon 5/1, use weapon, deal 8 damage.
A little bothered by people complaining about this. I don't know how to be not rude about this, but if you are having difficulty playing as Ragnaros, it comes from a lack of game knowledge and skill.
The painful truth is, Nefarion is easier to play. Rag requires some skill. They are in NO way imbalanced.

oh it definitely IS unbalanced, but the real question is: does it matter? Does it really need to be balanced? There's a different level of satisfaction from winning with Rag than with Nefarian.
Ugh.. I just lost a game as Nefarian after 16 win streaks...
Rag is too strong? That guy had like turn 2 son then turn 3 son!!
That's every game I play against rag. Coin 6/6 into rager into son, son. Or just 6/6 into coin lucifron
That's every. Game. And they don't always win somehow either and usually get grinded down to the last card in hand as I sit there with 2x shadowflame. Every time.
Just the worst luck imaginable still leads to a close game. Any normal draw by both players leads to a complete Nefarian blowout victory.
Lol my luck against rag is so bad. Every last game, they get double son into double molten. Every time. What? That's impossibly unlikely it's just out of this world unlucky.
But that's what happens when you make decks that are half bad cards and half too-good cards.
Edit: And they still lose as rag. Stupid. Son son, molten molten and still lose. What is better than that??
Edit: And the auto-concedes lol. What a total failure. I don't know where those guys with the even winrates are coming from but your experience is clearly not representative.

Ragnaros has Lava Burst and Son of the Flame as early direct removal which will either overload your next turn or die to Nefarians Blackwing Corruptor, Bite or trade for Blackwing Technician or even the whelps from Dragonkin Hatcher. Not to mention any attempt at building some board can be answered with Shadowflame which is not only cheaper than Ragnaros Flamestrike, but again can be used earlier to press for more damage. Shadowflame denies Ragnaros the board while Flamestrike doesn't since there is Onyxia and Open the Gates.
As Ragnaros you have to stall long enough for Nefarian to run out of cards - and then dodge what can come from Wild Magic.
Well, I just managed a ridiculous 4th turn kill with Nefarian.
First Turn - > Coin Vaelastrasz
Second Turn - > Blackwing Corruptor his 5/1, Atramedes, Dragon Consort, Dragon Consort, Chromatic Drake\
Third Turn -> Attacked with everything and Hero powered for no particular reason. Didn't bother playing anything. Ignored his Flameheart
Fourth Turn Kill.
I felt... dirty
you're not
20 games in:
12-0 with nef
1-7 with rag.

Has anyone landed a hit with Golemagg yet?

Well, I'm surprised it was not a turn 1 Vaelastrasz then concede. Vaelastrasz and Razorgore are super strong played on turn 1 with coin.
Nope, but I've been trying.

all the best players in the game disagree with you.

Playing him against himself was a little awkward.

In the end, the whole mess will be over in a few days, so it's kind of a moot point I suppose.
Just unfortunate that they decided to launch this new feature with such an unbalanced setup.
dude was afk the whole game i bet ;)
Brawl its all about fun... For the guys get Nefarian :D
At last got 4/7 with rag :)
