Even as a top 100 legend player this brawl isn't worth it. No one has a 85% win rate in constructed past rank 5, which is what would be required to get decent rewards consistently in this brawl. I was interested in it before I saw the rewards pool, now I think I'll just watch instead.
Please. If you are not sure if participating in this brawl is a good idea or not. DO NOT PARTICIPATE, they will base future decisions on how popular this brawl is. Tournament mode sounds cool but I want it done right. This lazy version just promotes playing the OP deck of the moment, which is very clearly midrange shaman at this point. As a result, this kind of tournament mode will be the most boring mode there is. Yes, even more boring than ladder, because nobody will even try playing something else.
We need a tournament mode that promotes using a variety of decks.
Nope. I feel like it's too bad of a deal. Blizzard has a 30% rake on the entrance fee, making the rewards feel not rewarding enough. The rewards are maybe also not fairly distributed, but I still need to take a look into the numbers on that.
I like this idea. It's like a tournament. In real TCG tournaments like Magic or YuGiOh! in my region the entry fees are also ~10,00€. For this fee one can participate in this tournament and gets one Booster-Pack. The Heroic-Brawl is nearly the same. I used to participate in such tournaments once or twice a month. IMO the entry fee is OK. But due to the fact that thisgame is only digital I'd like it to be ~5,00€.
Also in real tournaments I often used to get to know to new people. That was also a big aspect of participating. This you simply don't have in HS. Or at least, if one is not in Teamspek or Discord.
Maybe one day, when I got better in HS, I'd might participate in Heroic Brawl.
Here's the thing... in an in person tournament 100% of the money taken goes back to the players playing. That's not the case here. which is BS. It's not like they wouldn't still be making money that way, yet They're still doing it. A clear gold grab to drive more pack buying of the new expansion when it turns out to be amazing.... That being said... I'll still play at least once... I just love tournaments.

I agree... Was it really that hard to implement a conquest mode? oh wait, the average players are too studpid for conquest. kappa Babyrage
Mentioned in another thread, as well. Without changing rules (maybe change rules once/month instead of every week), this will be not only boring, but also cater way too strongly to those who already grind Standard for hours a day.
If you don't spend most of your day playing Standard already, do not waste your money. I would do this every week if it only had special rulesets that broke it up from the stagnant meta and gave players with stronger arena/limited format skills a better chance of winning.

Also this. This would be my least favorite mode, pointless to play. Challenge Stone type rules that change occasionally or above mentioned Conquest mode would be needed to make this playable.
I need to feel that I have a positive net payout before I'll get involved.
I reckon I'm at around the 90th percentile of player skill i.e. One in ten players is better than me. However, one suspects that only the top 10% or so of players will take part as the rest will figure that they will get ripped off.
Thus, I'd probably be pretty much the worst player involved.
Initially I was interested, but after mulling over the idea for a bit, I think I'll save the gold for the new expansion instead. Just not enough of a fan of the beat Shaman / join Shaman meta to pay 1k gold to experience it at its utmost.
I'm not sure yet because there are too many unknown factors like how will the queue work, how easy will the competition be (ie. how many noobs will try it), will they rework the rewards, will they let everyone try it free once, will it come before or after the expansion now (I don't really want old gods packs much), etc.
With the initial announcement I was heavily leaning towards "no" but either they didn't have it ready on time (last minute bugs) and/or they decided to listen to the community and fix some of the problems, so now I'm waiting for more info.
Chungus is smart. He has a 1000 gold. He is a mildly good player, however, 1000 gold = 10 packs and Mid-range shaman is a thing. Chungus can watch Kripp or Wowcrendor waste 10 dollars, and summarize the experience for him.
On the other side of the coin is Billy.
Billy is not smart. He has a 1000 gold and thinks he is a pro, so he doubles down and hopes for the best. He makes a Priest deck. Billy looses 0-3 to a Yogg and cries. The new expansion drops and Billy can't afford any packs. He is screwed.
From a purely value analysis and comparing to other tournament modes we look at two things. Amount of money going in and Expected Value of rewards being paid out. For a poker tournament you expect the rake to be about 10% for smaller buy ins and trending lower as the buy in amount goes higher. In the World Series of Poker Main Event, the house took $600 out of every $10k entry which is a 6% rake. This fee covers the cost of doing business for the casino, i.e. paying all the dealers, the floor staff, the loss of revenue from all the space required to run the event, etc. For Heroic Tavern Brawl, the projected rake is 30% which seems really too high considering that the cost of developing this probably isn't terribly a lot for blizzard. They are using the existing arena programming, allow you to build your own deck just like constructed, and insert the new rewards structure. Lets set this aside for a moment.
For other CCGs, tournaments are one of the best things about being involved in the game. They can be relatively inexpensive, give you a lot of bang for your buck in terms of number of games compared with the cost of entry. I don't have a lot of experience playing them but I understand the rake is usually quite low or zero with most of the money going back to the players with a very top heavy payout.
Both of these comparisons makes heroic tavern brawl seem like the worst thing ever, except for one critical thing that I think a lot of people are overlooking. Hearthstone is set up to allow players an opportunity to play for free and success in the game can be determined solely based on the amount of time players are willing to invest and their skill level. Blizzard basically gives everyone that is active every day around 50 gold for FREE and then offers Arena and now Heroic TB as opportunities to gamble in trying to turn gold into card collection. Arena has a pretty high cost of doing business if you aren't in the top 10% of skilled players but that is generally overlooked since they award a pack for every run. I just think that since they give the gold away for free, it shouldn't be that big of a deal if they offer a new play mode with a larger rake, but with the potential for a huge reward.
And anyway, if you don't feel like risking your hard "earned" gold, then don't play. If the new mode is wildly unpopular, then they won't offer it again, or at least not very often.

I like the idea. But if rewards are bad or that you most of the time in the lose gold mode. Than ya no way.

Should you craft/disenchant (Golden) Sylvanas or Ragnaros?

Hence, I'll skip it!
