Anyone else finding the new highlander Warrior too unbeatable?
Yes, I’m a control priest and this is meant to be a bad matchup. But it feels the moment they have Brann (permanent battlecry) and Astalor… I’m a goner since I can’t kill them by turn 10.
Any other classes finding highlander warrior too overpowered, or is it a cakewalk for Aggro?
Been trying the new Excavate Paladin, seemed pretty effective against highlander Warrior. By the time they get Bran out it's too late unless they've drawn all the good board clears. Especially with Windfury as an option now for Pally
A) it's super highrolly - get it on 6 - win. Don't lose.
B) it's going to encourage DK and plagues as the counter deck. This game should not be paper scissor stone...(or if it does it should be between dech archetypes)
C) Didnt we already establish that multiple Astalor battlecry's was extremely un-fun?
It does feel a little like they don't playtest anything...
This deck is just plain stupid. You cant outaggro a warrior, the only way to stop it is to have luck and shuffle smth into his deck or make a busted move with pala aka 20atk windfurry.
I just hate it, every card release/patch buff there are 1 or two cards that allow a busted solitaire deck to rise and then every other game is vs the deck that abuses those cards. Every. Single. Time.
I wanted to craft brann at beginning, but seeing this shibox on ladder made me feel disgusted even trying out the deck.
I've been playing in top 200 legend and haven't seen a Warrior (highlander or otherwise) in at least 40 games. Warlock seems to be the flavor of the week, with some ramp Druid, mining Rogue, mining Paladin and plague DK thrown in. Apparently Warrior isn't the nuts, although I can see how it'd be frustrating to play against when you want to play something that isn't tier 1.
Whether it's the best deck out there or not slightly misses the point. A deck can be hard countered by another deck and the whole meta is those two decks. Neither is the best deck, the winrates are 50% - but neither deck is particularly balanced and this is not a healthy state for the game to be in.
The problem with warrior decks (and OTK deck's in general) is that there's such a limited counterplay (other than kill them before they OTK) that any other control/slow decks have no space to compete because they will inevitably lose to the OTK. Mill druid actually falls into this category as well imo - it's not an OTK deck, but it might as well be from the perspective of the non-driud.
If Blizz was consistent they should nerf Brann. I don't have the stats, but I would wager he has a higher "played winrate" than the frogman did and he obviously got nerfed even though the deck wasn't particularly strong (and even when there was a universal tech card that isn't shit).
This meta would definitely have more warrior if it wasn't for the degenerate aggro decks that are also rampant. But that's a problem as well.
If aggro gets a non-shit hand the game is over well before turn 6.
Honestly, at that this stage the whole game feels like a shit show. I just got hit for 20 charge damage on turn 6 by a druid who had gained 20 million armour and had 11 mana. He also played the 0 mana 8/8 in there for a spicy 28 to face. My poor little shaman had some 2/3's on board and the limitations of only having six mana with cards which actually cost mana...
If only I had played aggro....
p.s. Bran-astalor is also extremely un-fun to play against (but we've known that ever since we had to endure Bran-Astalor...)
If they nerf annoying decks, the ultimate anti fun deck might emerge, called control priest with a new flavor: shadow word:steal. Warrior might be OP i I just dont want to see that card
As it stands there is basically zero chance you'll be seeing priest of any sort. Aggro priest doens't have the burst or legs to defeat druid and control priest doesn't have much of anything to defeat anyone...
Shame really as I reckon control priest is probably one of the few classes that could probably create a deck to sort out the paladins (but it loses to everything else)
According to HS replay, highlander warrior has a 60% winrate from diamond 5 to legend. I don't have HS replay premium so I can't interogate the data myself, but here's a link to a screenshot - what more evidence do you need!!!

Who knows whether it's trully OP or not. It's definitely not fun to play against though (unless you're playing a high tempo deck or DK!)
Oh I agree it's a poorly designed deck and possibly overpowered ; I'm just saying some people (that happen to datamine the game quite a bit) believe it's mediocre.
pally cards are also overpowered, so are some priestcards (incredible frustrating to play against as a control because of steal and remove> obviously as aggro theres nothing great to steal) , many cards are way to easy to activate and too strong/cheap to play. In warri Im thinking the easy boardclears and strong removal and finishers that are hard to counter, but at least you have a chance to counter them.
Pally aura ie. theres nothing you can do other than boardclear 3x in a row and now with the rediculous excavate pack..even worse.

If they find Brann early they're extremely powerful.
If not, then it's as good as an arena deck.
I hate everything about the design of the card.
A) it's super highrolly - get it on 6 - win. Don't lose.

p.s. druid also seems busted

I think Paladin is more busted. Whole game is pure silliness these days
30% of the time, brann warrior wins 100% of the time. The rest of the time, I steamroller it. :)
I'd rather lose to Brann Warrior than lose to Aggro Paladin or Treant Druid on turn 5ish. Why?
Because I can counter highlander decks with plagues DK. Laughs in Helya
Yes, it quite obviously is. I would wager that it's going to go up to 30% of the playrate at any level of play.
Any "everlasting" effect is arguably awful for the game anyway. (:
Except you cannot. Proper warrior players will eat through Plague DK.
HSReplay on Highlander Warrior is it has a winrate of 32.65% vs plague DK in 1032 games.
Maybe I'm haven't met the Proper Warriors yet, but understanding what decks counter each other will help you you get to Legend.
Also try these decks vs Highlander warrior. Treant druid, mining paladin, secret mage and sludge warlock.
Are those filtered stats, or do they include bronze matchups?
You're right, actually.
Mea culpa ; the stats speak in your favour.

Quite interesting - according to VS, HL Warrior isn't going anywhere.
