Today I played some 25 minute games just to lose to Rogue's or Mage's never ending RNG bullshit. Maybe devs are happy because players post stupid RNG wins happily but I can't stand that much RNG as a long time player.
as a longtime player you should know this element has been around since the beginning
Honestly though It’s probably worse than ever. In the past there were always cards that were pure rng like unstable portal that could swing the game, but it never felt like too much. Look at rogue now, constant lackey spam until they get a nice dragon like dragonqueen, where they then get two free legendary dragons
Nowadays, people play decks that they have no idea about what cards they will play actually. Discover, Add to your hand, Discover, Discover, Cast Random Spells etc.
No point in creating a new thread when you've got one with 50 posts open on the exact same subject
See this exactly what I’m talking about with this community. It’s not even the same person. I doubt it matters because you can just call them salty
I don't understand what is so specific to this community about putting the exact same subject into the same thread? I'm not even trying to redirect the OP to the salt thread but simply to an existing thread on the same subject (the purpose of a forum being to share thoughts).
Isn't it simple logic that applies to all forums ? To me it is
There is a reason the same players percolate to the top of tournament leaderboards, GM league, ladder finishes, etc. etc.
If you truly believe it's Blizzard playing favorites, that's an unprovable (and therefore Un-DIS-provable) statement with the info we have available, but I'd just offer the bit of thought, "why would they need to do that?"
If you truly believe it's just because these players grind harder, you don't understand RNG. There are more players who DESIRE to be at the top of Hearthstone than there are places at the top of Hearthstone. Sooner or later something breaks the ties. Furthermore, if the only thing it takes to succeed in this game is playing more hours, YOU YOURSELF go do it and show us. Any one of the numerous RNG gripers on this site, go be the next professional success story. All you have to do is play more games, right?
We could easily settle this, though, and honestly, I think I want to make some YouTube content about this. Just go grab the OP on this post and watch some replays with him from GM league or last year's World Championships or whatever. Take him to a certain decision point in the game, pause the replay, and ask him to describe precisely how he plays this turn out. See how many times he picks suboptimal lines of play when compared to the player who actually played the game, and let the argument be settled.
If you want to play this game with yourself, go watch Frozen vs. Sintolol in the 2017 (I think) World Championship Semi-final round. There were numerous moments in that match where the average Legend player would have fucked the game up completely. Be honest with yourself, and tell me about the RNG being the dominant factor of the game again. If you're going to insist you'd have played it better, then you are definitely my first contestant on "So You Think You're Pro?", coming to a YouTube channel near you.

Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
This is an RNG game. Seriously, that’s the game. It’s a clown fiesta. Embrace, or move on. It’s as simple as that.
Those desperately clinging on to the concept of skill being important need to take a serious look at reality.
I love it. Casino mage and spell shaman ftw. Everything else... f it!!!
RNG only carries you so far. There is actually a fair amount of skill in RNG as counter-intuitive as that may sound.
This is true but it actually feels miserable to lose to an RNG card. You can't blame every lose on clown fiesta RNG but that's definitely the case for some loses. It feels particularly bad when you lose to a random card generated by another random card that was generated by something else. When that happens I feel like throwing my PC out the window.
Rng only takes you far. Obviously you don’t get it. It’s to the point where you are fucking spoon fed answer after answer after answer. Wow so I guess so far is top decking or discovering the perfect card. Getting you so far I guess is actually playing the card. What a skill threshold that is. People bitch because one it’s bullshit. And two that wasn’t what this game was. It’s lazy and bad designed cards with rng by the set being ramped up more and more. Oh just move on. How about you have some balls and call the spade the spade and demand they stop advertising it’s “competitions” as skill based and actually put the skill back in the game. Hrr there’s always rng. No fucking shit but this is unacceptable rng. If you are too stupid to see that then maybe you are part of the problem. And plenty of people in this community are part of the problem. But it’s not the people who bitch about rng.

Totally agree. I was at the live event for this specific game. At first I was gutted that I didn’t get tickets for the final day, but I went to the day before and got to see this match. The Frost Lich Jaina mirror is something that happens because of RNG and they could have never practiced this. That’s where the real skill shows, dealing with these weird situations. Everyone gets salty because of RNG sometimes, me included. But when I’m honest to myself and look back at the game there are always several microdecisions I could have done better.
Oh that's right, the priest player randomly generated the Frost Lich . . . I remember now.
I always use that match as an example because I remember it being complex as all hell, but I had forgotten a lot of the specifics.
That was wild, watching the priest generating water elementals while the mage was desperately hoping for his own Jaina.
Incidentally, the idea that RNG controls things so terribly newadays as compared to the time when Big Spell Mage mirror matches would have one guy play Jaina turn 9 and one guy with Jaina as his 30th card . . . I'm honestly trying to go thru the popular decks today, but I can't think of one instance where a single copy card controls that much of the win/loss percentage.
EDIT: More recently, the warrior control match centering around who managed to draw Dr. Boom turn 7 (or 9 depending on where in the cycle you were) vs the guy with Dr Boom on the bottom of the deck. It's been the hero cards that generally cause that "one legendary has to be drawn to win" stuff.

And I think this is the shittiest argument, people got rekt on packs when they picked ex-champions as their champion many times (actually always). What actually matters is how many players compete for that scene? 100? 200? What do expect to see, there are not many so you will see almost the same people every year. That's all.
You couldn't beat a mage and a rogue in 25min and you lost? This isn't RNG. This is you jusy being plain bad. If you can't beat your opponent in 25min in HS you don't deserve to win. What you were doing is just prolonging your loss.

No point in responding in a thread when you have nothing to add.
Lackeys are the worst thing has happened to HS since launch.
Can't wait for next rotation TBH.

So why did you?
