Just got into an "Only beasts!" anomaly lobby, by far the poorest BG experience I've ever had
Phew, I'm glad I'm not the only person with that opinion. People say that they were bored with the forced comps and needed something fresh in the game. I agree with that. But playing only beasts, demons, undead is just that but even worse because everyone is doing it! Some anomalies are ok but the lobbies with the only 1 type of minions or all golden minions in the tavern are not fun at all.
Unfortunately, I have not gotten the one tribe one yet and seem to get the Sire guy one way too much. Given the frequency at which the anomalies are appearing for me I would say it's a bust. I would like to experience them all at the same frequency. That's been my frustration with it so far.
I'd love to have more lobbies where the first minion is free. That was fun and opens up a lot of strategies. However, I just get the +10 armor and tier 7 thing again and again...
Example, I just got beat by a guy with unremarkable hero power who had no triples. I had 30 health, 9 armor.
I had a board that would surely compete for 1st place most games.
I fought this guy, his whole board was 200/200 golden (he had no triples in the display) and I got hit for 43. I imagine the tier 7 had makes goldens did that.
Why spend the time to get cheated out of a game in this manner? This is a regular experience in this meta.
I'm having a blast! I like that there are so many anomalies, I still see ones I haven't played. They can be highrolly, but I usually don't see more than one crazy comp per lobby so I'm still consistently getting fourth or higher.
There is something like a feedback. You obviously can't be happy all the time and adapt to everything that is thrown at you. I dont like some of the anomalies and that is why I play BG much less than before. Its ok if you enjoy them, that's your taste but for god sake don't assume someone is salty just because they don't like the changes.
I think overall the idea of this, quests, Darkmoon prizes, etc. are really good. It keeps things fun and keeps any sort of competitive aspect out.
As this is the first run at anomalies I think there is more work to be done to make it a better experience. Like I said before my biggest issue is that their probabilities of appearing are all different which makes it more boring for me.

Some people want something competitive. Some people, like that guy you were replying to, just are looking for time killing alternative to spanking the monkey.
I usually finish 3rd or 2nd in my "bad games" in Battlegrounds.
I've played more of this BG meta than I should. I accidental queue into BGs from habit.
This meta is "not bad", but to players that want something competitive, it's too cheesy and inconsistent.
I get that some players are fine with monkey spankage gameplay. Different tastes for different people.
/Crafting wild deck. If that sucks, 3 days to Twist. All bg regulars have a huge pile of worthless gold with no way to use it for bgs, so I can craft any deck I want ;)

I think that they have been trying to tell the player base that it is not a competitive mode since Darkmoon prizes were first introduced. Seems like the majority of the player base appreciates this and likes this direction. Isn't there more self pleasuring involved in telling everyone how good you are at a non-competitive mode? Also, I'm not looking for an alternative to "spanking the monkey". I can do both at the same time and still move up in the ranks quite well.

Sure and I get that.
I want my board building to matter.
In this meta, it matters far less than in the past.
The wins often feel cheap (unearned) and the losses often feel cheap.
Yes most people are ok with this.
but I'm only interested in if I enjoy the mode. And I right now, not so much.
Referencing older metas and mentioning how good you were in them doesnt matter a hill of beans. Hearthstone in all its modes changes over time and players must learn to adapt to keep winning. Its one of the good things about the game, it doesnt get stale. Complaining about the current meta is not productive. Learn to play and win in it or just stop playing. Complaining is a waste of time and effort. This thread by you is basically salt.
I'm not sure who was doing the personal attacks (unless it was me somehow, but I never named anyone in a post and my replies were to people who I agree with).
So in conclusion, I think we have all learned a valuable lesson today.
I yield my time to next speaker.
Also ... this meeting is ajourned. I always wanted to say that.
It is nice they are doing things for battlegrounds.
But this is like a new Tavern brawl every game. Neat for a day or even 3.
I hope this is an event or something like Diablo thing a few months ago.
I already do not want to play any more of it.
I’m sorry to hear this. The anomalies can be overwhelming but after you play enough you learn the hero’s that are good and the hero’s that aren’t so good with each anomaly. The anomalies force you to actively think when choosing a hero and help make the poorer hero’s really good in most cases. The sheer number of combos tossed in makes it all a bit daunting but it does get easier. I think the anomalies give players with no pass a better chance at winning than without them tbh. If you only want to start the game and look at Firestone and pick the best hero based on that then anomalies aren’t for you. If you play on mobile , like I do, you are not choosing your hero from a stats list but instead choose your hero based on the anomaly vs the hero power vs the tribes. Sometimes you have a very easy choice and sometimes it doesn’t seem that clear but the more you play the easier it gets. There is nothing to actually win in BG’s so why anyone would really care about losing is beyond me. You can concede through the track if all you want to do is collect the prizes ;the season is long enough to not have to win a single match to finish it just from quests. I play it just to get through the track and I finish about 6000-6500 just doing that. I will admit that if you don’t want a more challenging puzzle experience then anomalies won’t necessarily be your thing. I can only imagine the frustration when the mini-set hits and anomalies will force people to either adapt their play and change it up or just flat out lose. This will happen and so will just flat out winning when you get the right anomaly. The best decks will be the ones with the most consistency across all anomalies. Learning your deck will be much harder but it will also be extremely harder to just switch decks and win. Sticking with one deck and gaining consistency will be key. Don’t think of anomalies as “random tavern brawls” but instead think of them as an opportunity to think and strategize in a different way to maybe win a matchup that you might have otherwise straight up lost to. There is no penalty for losing so there is nothing to lose. The game has to do something because predictable gets predictably …..boring. I think if people approach this with an open mind they will do a lot better than they think.
everyones comment in here is stupid af they literaly are updating the crap anomalies to even crappier crap. sure fine ahve a mid set with some cahnges like tft
WHY IN THE F ARE YOU ADDING HORRIBLE ANOMALIES EVERY WEEK EVERY DAY THERE IS SOME NEW D0GSH!T ANOMALIES WTF IS BLIZZARD DOING.

That 1 is the most normal so I like that one only, haha.
I think way to describe meta:
you constantly get cheated from a fair game.
Example, I just got beat by a guy with unremarkable hero power who had no triples. I had 30 health, 9 armor.
I had a board that would surely compete for 1st place most games.

I may return to wild for a whle. Twist, hurry up!

I happy post and the rest is salty salt salt salt. The rest can learn to adapt and play.
If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.

I have no problems with others enjoying the mode.

The "Tier 7 exists" mod should be baseline, with the random one being added to it
Enough with the personal attacks and bickering. Discuss the topic not eachother.
If you see a bad post on the forum use the report function under it, so I or someone else of the moderation team can take care of it!

Probably was pointed to the user with the happy face emoji avatar. I don't see you or anyone else other than them bickering.
