Nerub'ar Weblord is generally looked at as a mediocre card, and gets almost no play in constructed. But the other day, I drafted an arena that had 2 Nerub'ar Weblords, and I had virtually no battlecry minions to be affected by them. That's how I came up with this idea. Would it be possible to create a deck in which Weblord is viable? Theoretically, you could construct a deck with no battlecry minions, and by playing Weblords, you would cause troubles for your opponent, while you are completely unaffected. To test this, I created a druid deck (Note: Minions with "Choose one" affects such as Keeper of the Grove and Druid of the Claw are unaffected by Weblord, because they don't have "battlecry" in their text), and so far, it's been doing pretty well in ranked. The only battlecry card in the entire deck is Big Game Hunter, as I figured the removal capability was worth the bad synergy with the weblords. Thoughts?
I had a few weblords in a 7-3 arena run awhile ago. They're like mana wraiths, except you can build your deck in such a way that you're not affected by them, and they're far more devastating. If you can make a decent deck without battlecry minions somehow, then they're perfect for slowing down your opponent; especially in the early game, they usually need to wait a few extra turns, and things like swamp ooze can't be played.
On a side note, almost no one in constructed runs blank cards (except for maybe yetis, ogres, and spider tanks), because things like swamp oozes are just objectively better than things like river crocolisks. Slipping some weblords into a deck and letting it run wild in the current meta would be quite amusing to watch.
It would have very little effect on the meta, and if you build your deck around the card you'll find your deck is weaker once it is eliminated, Weblord only works with battlecry and a lot of the meta is running abilities without battlecry. Sure you might stop a mechmage from using his Goblin Blastmage or a warlock from using his Flame Imp but outside of the early game, you have a 1/4 for 3 with little effect on the game. Priest would just Pain it, Mage would frostbolt + hero power it, and Warlock would just Shadowbolt it. If it truly is a problem for them, but most decks run a lot of cards without battlecries. Most decks in the meta will have a way to kill it the same turn it came out. With it doing only 1 damage you'll find that it's not much of a threat. On the other end of the spectrum though: Echo of Medivh + Duplicate Weblord would be just play fun to play. Though at 3 mana there are better picks for every deck than a card that will die without impact.

Doctor Who? Dr. Boom. Timelord and Friend of All Daleks(Boom Bot).
There are a good number of battle-cry minions being run currently, but not enough to justify building your deck around and sacrificing card slots for a 3 mana 1/4. Certain classes use more battlecry's too, so you would also have to factor in how much of the meta they hold along with how many are in each deck. In the end it would actually be a pretty small amount.
I would guess that deathrattles are used twice as often than battlecrys , if the card was changed I could see it being a lot more useful. But in the current meta, aside from arena and some fun corner cases... Theres a reason it's not being run. Silence would get more use/value.

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible. - T. E. Lawrence
VeiledSyn I agree with you. I'm honestly suprised with how much Deathrattle Focus Naxx was they didn't make it effect DR. I think it would of been a top tier card for when Face Hunter was running around Pre-UT nerf.

Minions with battle cry are important resources in this game.So I think this sort of deck need powerful spells to compensate that.Maybe Mage or Rogue is a good choice to build this kind of deck.
Yeah, I have been dallying with him in my Hobwargoblocklin build. Warlock has some great targets for Hobgoblin interaction like Voidwalker and Mistress of Pain. The downside to Nerub'ar Weblord is that Echoing Ooze is worded as Battlecry, and that card is the NUTS in a Hobgoblin deck.

Decent decks for dabblers! Under 1000 dust, no Adventures required!
Most of the cards used in the meta that can kill a Neru'Bar Weblord rely on targeting the minion. As a rogue, you can use a Master of Disguise, which is a 4/4 minion costing 4 mana, with battlecry: give a friendlyminion stealth. You could stealth your Neru'Bar Weblord with the Master of Disguise in order to prevent it from dying to a spell, other than some AoE. The only downside to this is that the Master of Disguise would cost 6 mana, due to the Neru'Bar Weblord's effect.

1-4 for 3?
Nerub'ar Weblord
Weblord is 2 mana
EDIT: Nevermind, I see you were replying to VeiledSyn

i'd rather go for paladin or druid rogue just kills herself if she puts any condition or hampers her use of SI7 Agent.
SI:7 Agent has a combo effect, rather than a battlecry, so it isn't affected.
Thank you all for your feedback. Here's the deck I'm currently using:

hehehehe
Unless explicitly stated, my posts are my opinion and mine only.
1) put it in your deck
2)Play it on turn 6
3) ????
4)profit
hint: an annoying 7 drop.
