So, watching the world championship seems that many players went for the Aggro version (southsea deck hand, hench clan thug, deadly poison, Myra unstable element).
I'm currently using the thief version (that instead of the cards mentioned above runs 2 vendetta, 2 hench clan burglar, 2 foxes and one underbelly rush guy).,
It's less explosive in terms of burst, and it starts dealing dmg a bit later. But oh boys, is so much stronger in board control. Murloc Shaman, zoolock, token Druid... They are all quite easy unless I really don't draw like shit. And aggro tempo rogue feels super easy too. Vendetta is just too good to pass, plus the foxes and the burglar generate the right amount of value, so that you don't run out of resources so easily. Actually, if I really had to cut a card, would be the underbelly, maybe for Togwaggle, in order to generate more value vs Warrior.
Not sure how tempo rogue vs thief tempo is a good match up for tempo thief. I virtually never lose to them unless they get insanely lucky with the cutlass.
As somebody that plays Rogue often, I would have to agree. The matchup feels slightly in your favor so long as you're combo'ing your cards and stealing decent cards.
When it comes to aggro vs value, aggro usually wins.
Why would you play a deck that specializes in generating ressources and using them to outvalue your opponent instead of going for the deck that just straight up murders you?
Not to mention that based on statistics the aggro version is just better.
Not saying you can't play Thief Rogue and enjoy it but if you took it to a tournament you'd absolutely be getting destroyed by optimized aggressive lists.
Here are my stats from rank 13 to 5 with tempo rogue (i also played some games from my phone, those stats unfortunately are not tracked as you can see in the second picture...it goes from rank 11 to 8). As you can see, i'm 6-1 with Warrior, Rogue's bane. Token druid is also a cake walk. Actully (even if stats dont show it) i struggle a bit with hunter, too many token and bombs, plus the hero power. It's hard not to be rushed by them

I'm not talking of Tess Rogue with Tess, espionage, spectral cutlass etc... I tried that and yes, it's bad.
I'm talking about tempo Rogue, that instead of southsea deckhand, hench clan thug, deadly poison and Myra unstable element, runs hench clan burglar, blink fox, vendetta and Togwaggle. It's still quite aggressive, but less than the one I mentioned. But the little extra value that generates, helps a lot vs Warrior. Also vendetta Vs rogues that don't run the thief package is such a great tempo swing that most of the time it's hard for them to recover. Furthermore, vs other aggro decks like token Druid, zoolock and murloc Shaman, thief tempo Rogue perform much better IMHO

I personally have a lot more fun with the thief package despite people saying it’s not as good.

I tried having fun once. It was awful.
Play whatever version, just include Sap.
