so I want to give a new life to midrange pally. After the meta is setteled I began creating a solid midrange variant of paladin and I came up with this list:
I would really appreciate any comments and recommendations on this from people expirienced with paladin and/or intrested in the class. I played my fair share of pally but with the new format I'm a bit confused about the card choices since the most midrange staples are gone. This list doesn't run N'zoth the Corruptor since it's a bit slow and unreliable as a win condition against warrior because of Brawl. This list here runs Elise Starseeker as a win con against control as well as general board overwhelming. I just cannot decide if it works good enough. I would really love to hear your opinion on Midrange Paladin in Standard and on my list.
I'm sorry for my grammar, I know it's really bad, but I hope, readable nevertheless.
Well those three cards absence is really frustrating I admit that, but they all are early game. Those are poorly replaced by farseers, jugglers and selfless hero, they can provide some presence. Going further into midgame the deck snowballs rather quickly and I have no problems controlling the board.
Also, have you tried in current meta? Imho just other midrange decks (shamans, warriors, hunters) will just destroy you coz of better class cards...imho go SMOrc,or go control in standard meta...
Yeah, I played a couple of games. I absolutely steamrolled 3 warriors I met: tempo and 2xC'thun. Also rogue matchup is far better with this list than heavy N'zoth control because of board flooding. I sacrificed a little bit of comeback cards (2xPyro + equality), so zoo became a bit worse matchup but if you draw early game or consecrates, you're golden. Hunters are better MU as well since their traps usually have little effect because of solid board presence. With this list it's easier to progress into lategame because you do not require exact cards to answer opponent's board: you have your own creatures out.
Your grammar is good. What's really bad is this list, and the approach to it.
You don't have reliable ways to gain tempo, but you have plenty of ways to put yourself behind on tempo. With cards like farseer, light in the darkness, elise. etc.
The problem with blessing of kings in this list is that you will always be behind on board and without a target for it on curve.
Just so you understand why elise is not a win condition. Midrange pally should aim to win at ~10 turns, with this amount of draw you would have the monkey much later than that.
If you really want to do a midrange pally list, which by default is bad. You can do it in 4 ways. with murlocs and warleader as the new quartermaster. with steward of darkshire. with dragons. C'thun.
If you are determined to stick with your creation then. -2 farseer - elise - 2 light in the darkness - 1 blessing of kings these must go
(- 1) blessing of kings (- 1) murloc knight You need to consider these cards, if they are often dead in your hand.
+ 1 selfless hero + 1 flame juggler is a must.
Then you'll need 2 more 2 drops like toad e.g. at least 2 more 3 drops like golem/steward/blade.
I would swap out the lay on hands and 2 kodo for 2 azure drake and either an argus or forbidden healing.

Still think N'Zoth paladin is better then this
