i know not to many card have been released for witchwood yet. but personally im getting a really weak vibe from almost all the cards shown so far and hagatha was supposed to be the big "wow" card like reno or nzoth etc yet it seems rather underwhelming in theory. i really hope we dont end up with another grand tournament or mean streets
Mean streets had some of the most powerful hearthstone cards ever printed. It will be the most felt of any expansion rotation. And reno and nzoth were not very good when they were first printed, so I'm inclined to not trust you very much on power levels.
I think it’s still too early to say for sure. But I think Blizzard is intentionally decreasing the power of cards since powercreep can only go on for so long. Not to mention that alot of powerful sets are rotating so this could be the perfect time to implement changes like this. Also, standard decks are almost as powerful as their wild counterpart which concerns alot of people (or atleast me).
That said we are getting alot of new mechanics which look really interesting to me. Plus some other itterations of old cards (Forest Guide for example).

ok true meanstreets was very strong i just got bad vibes from it during the reveals, and throughout the whole meta. but reno and nzoth were good even when they were first printed, even if thier usage wasnt widespread until later on
They are most likely balancing the power levels to a certain degree, so what I expect is that every future expansion will be mediocre at best. No more GVG and Naxx power level cards.
Yes im not happy with revealed cards but remember KFT's first 40 cards.
It was worse than this, but ended up with a lot of playable and strong , solid cards
fair point i figured i was pulling the trigger way to early on this one. im just really hungry to see some power. though i do really like how lord godfrey turned out, just not so sure if warlock needed another great card lol
Many of the rush creatures do seems on the weaker side but I do think that hagatha has great potential making any creature to a babbling book is amazing ability considering that shaman spells are mostly good.
Other then that both the warlock legendary creature are great and will probably see play.

yea it makes sense, but i have a feeling hand druid is about to be the next freeze shaman at the rate things are going currently. i really hope that is not the case because a new archetype of druid sounds refreshing

I don't agree. The cards weren't in the game to support these archetypes enough. They were only good enough to see play in Warlock and Paladin and those decks ended up being around tier 3. Reno warlock really got into its groove when kazakus showed up and the amount of warlock minions and spells became high enough to have a viable control options. Nzoth paladin was outshined by murloc paladin and it became way more viable as more defensive deathrattles were added. If you remember as well, paladin was in a pretty bad place until Un Goro, where it really stepped up, and not due to it having good control cards.
You can argue that supportive cards shouldn't count because the card on it's face is powerful, but that's not really how card games work.
They are both insane cards in wild though, as any cards are that require a lot of supportive ones. In both cases they came out during very different metas and we could have a very long discussion about their journey.
It sounds like you just want flashy power, which is different then just normal power level. Godfrey is a very powerful card for example, but it's pretty boring.

I guess we will have to wait and see.
im going to have to counter you on a few of those points.
the 2/5 rush and the hunter legendary seems strong. a good removal tool for warrior and a midrange board control minion for hunter. but theres no telling if those decks will exist
lordgodfrey is going to be powerful obviously, but glinda feels more like a meme than anything but its a cool/fun card
and hagatha is quite a let down imo. on turn 8, 3 damage aoe isnt going to be killing too much. and random shaman spells are generally pretty bad, and they overload you which then messes up your following turns
Every new xpac brings a new meta, when 3 sets rotate out a lot of power goes away, don't worry very strong cards will be revealed, just a matter of time

yea i was talking more about flashy individual power per card rather than looking for synergy, since its near impossible to map that out this early on, so many cards rotating out, and many new cards we haven't seen coming in.
now big flashy cards arent always the most important thing in a card game. but during this crucial phase of card reveals and new stuff and hype etc. its hard to get excited about almost all of these new cards being printed.
like for example, quests and deathknights etc had me anxiously waiting for the expansion to drop, whereas witchwood is bringing in cards that dont seem great so far, coupled with the bad feelings of losing cards that we have become attached to the past 2 years
I don't like weak expansions like TGT, but don't like even more bullshit OP expansions like MSoG (K&C for warlock and paladin) with cards like Patches and Jade Idol.
LoE, Un'Goro and KFT are the best in this aspect so far, not weak but not bullshit.
I dont think Hagatha was supposed to be the strongest card, it was just meant to be the centerpiece "lorewise". I think we have yet to see the best cards later in the revealseason.
The bravest thing Blizzard can do is to start decreasing the power levels gradually because it's just frankly not that exciting to face turn 4 Barnes Yshaarjs etc., because it makes other sort-of-viable-looking-decks just lack luster when trying to ladder with them. Of course some decks are a tad better than others, that is pretty much the consequence of millions of players playing the game every second of the day and tuning their decks and testing stuff, then submitting them online. And nothing wrong with that though, but if the gaps between tiers can be narrowed significantly we will enter a much more versatile and fun environment. I want people to be able to play the cards they love! And not getting crushed by turn six Void Lord(from lackey/weapon) + Cube + Pact shenanigans.
I really dislike these kind of threads where you try to make conclusions based on approx. 15 % of the set. When KnC came out ppl whined about the power level of the cards: "they are too weak etc."
It's the same BS every time. Wait for the full set to make any conclusions on power level etc.
I've been feeling the exact same thing, which I wouldn't even mind normally as a less overpowered standard wouldn't be a bad thing - no more jades, drakkonids, evolve and devolve, damage to the dude paladin and murloc decks losing SAD and vilefin, kingsbane losing coldlight, Barnes, etc etc. Except without some ridiculous cards for one of the classes, what will keep warlock in check? Their only significant loss is n'zoth (and maybe mistress but I think that can be replaced).
The first set has to be weaker because its competing with few cards for deckslots. As expansions build up cards have to be more powerful and more powerful to have enough of an impact on the meta.
Also i have a feeling that the first expansion sets the theme for the year, kraken was heavy sinergy cards (c'thun, spell heavy decks, highlander and jades), mammoth was strong standalone cards (quests, heroes, weapons).

Now that I've started to dream big and hope Blizzard is actually going to fight the power creep in the Year of the Raven, I'd wish to see a handful of nerfs soon. Warlock needs to take a few hits in order to create a better meta! :)

Lets make Hearthstone great again! :)
