posted a message on I give up. I tried, I did. But I give up.

I don't have many games under my belt with Conjurer Mage (aka Khadgar Mage), but I gotta say it has been my favorite deck from this expansion. There are a bunch of versions floating around, but oh man the one suggested by a comment on hearthstonetopdecks to include "the Janalai package" is so godly!

What is cool about this deck is that you are discovering stuff during the match with Firetree Witchdoctor and the new Raven. Pulling of the Giant + Khadgar + Conjurer's Calling is super satisfactionary + it's not even RNG based. Like there are two possible minions in the pool. Later on Astromancers and the 8 mana summon two dudes card are of course summoning random things, but if you've gotten so far in the game the sheer power of putting basically big threats on the board turn after turn wins control matches quite handily.

Maybe I need to face 10 aggro decks in a row to lose my high hopes for this deck though! But even then I saw two possible inclusions mentioned here (abomination and tunnel blaster) to add some needed aoe clears.

I have every deck in standard atm, 22k dust and started saving for next expansion with 500g already stashed.

And I FUCKING WHOLEHEARTEDLY HATE THIS MOTHERFUCKING GAME MORE THAN I HAVE HATED ANYTHING IN MY WHOLE LIFE!

NOPE, and I would not dust them since wild is significantly cheaper than standard and you will regret if you dust them

Depends tho. I play only standard and after the previous rotation i dusted every card from the rotated sets and have been able to play almost every standard deck afterwards. The dust is 'uge!

posted a message on Losing rank is no fun, what else?

The amount of retardism in the answers to this topic is.... I wanted to say baffling or something, but I've become cynical enough not get baffled anymore.

This was a really nice conversation starter and a super imterestong topic even beyond Hearthstone! (Too bad the OP should have started a new "nerf this"-thread, so these neglects could have carried on to posting their usual "this again, go to salt thread" responses.)

The thing about losing in Hearthstone is so stressfull because very often it is due to a significant luck factor. In other games I have actually enjoyed (to some degree!) the games I've lost because I have felt like I have learned something and seen some ingenious plays by my opponent.

Another thing about Hearthstone is that I feel like the the atmosphere is hostile. The amount of bm and opponents rubbing it in is so huge that I tend to que into matches with a negativity to start with (yes sherlock! this is my view/problem, but I think it has some merits to back that feeling). I haven't played Gwent much, but I think the system they had was marvelous! You could cheer your opponent after a match with a tiny bit of dust if you CHOSE to. That immediately creates a more supporting field, and getting a handshake after a game leaves a better taste in your mouth than just a soulless lost match with a tiny pinch of bm to really make you feel sooooo goooood!

    Thanks for the refreshing topic!

I fucking caved and started playing Odd Paladin just to farm some easy wins, because I am not quite sure what I have done to God because he has cursed me to the lowest part of hell where I just cannot fucking win a single game even with the tier 1 decks.

And lo and behold I am facing the luckiest draws and best case scenarios and even with odd paladin I am actually dropping ranks! Give me a fucking break for fucks sake!

I've been rank 1, 5 stars three times during the past three hours. Give me a fucking break and let me get that legend for the fucking fucking fucking god's sake!!

same here last week hit rank 1-5 stars, 4 times, from rank 4 and now im at rank 3

Make that 4 for me as well now... I don't know... It just pains my soul. The previous time I reached legend I remember telling myself never to do this shit again. But the games were going so well from ranks 10-1 now that I thought what the heck and go for it. And now that last game just won't get won. Taunt warrior was the one stopping me this time.

I think I'll just get myself a new necklace to cheer me up... A rope would be good.

posted a message on Is Odd Rogue dead?

Just have to say it's been an absolute blast to play Odd Rogue from rank 10 to 1 (soon legend hopefully! refer to the salt thread please!). I'm not sure when I have I had such a good win % and the feeling that I am capable in almost every match-up. Odd warrior is the toughest for sure, but luckily I have only run into a couple of those.

Priests are almost farmable, Odd Paladin is surprisingly good match-up imo when you carefully manage the board with your starting 1/3s, weapon and Tar Creeper. Vilespine Slayer and SI Agent also provide huge tempo swings on the board. Similarly Even Shaman seems to be not that tough to beat. Weirldy I have seen quite few Hunters during this climb and I find those games to be quite winnable aswell. The Hybrid deck might be the easiest because I find controlling the board is quite easy and straightforward. Turn 5 Spellstones and turn 10 Zuljin have been the ones that I have often times lost to.

Overral I find Odd Rogue the best deck for me in this meta because I hate the most mainstream decks and this thing of beauty seems to be quite rare on the ladder although the games are super satisfying! :)

Now I'll just need to hit that legend for the second time of my HS career!

posted a message on Does Anyone Else Hate How They Rotate? ...Why Three at a Time..?

Hey, this is a super interesting topic! I actually feel that the way card games could utilize rotation and/or different formats is something that has a lot of room for innovation.

I'm actually designing a card game of my own at the moment (for the memes mostly) and I've thought about set rotation quite a bit too. I think a cool way to rotate sets would be as follows:

    • Six sets in rotation all the time
    • Sets divided into two blocks of three: new(A) and old(B)
    • When a new set launches the oldest set from A and B rotate out, and the new set PLUS a random set from the pool of all the previous sets in the history of the game rotate in
    • Rinse and repeat at the launch of every new set

This kind of rotation would aggressively shake things up frequently and it would sustain the value of your collection as the older sets would still come and go in the future too. In Hearthstone the costs would be too steep for a new gamer for sure, but I'm just theorizing on a larger scale.

Gotta say I really like to play with Control Mind Blast Priest! I  started playing to counter all those Hunters, but just when I changed for it the Hunters seemed to vanish and I faced Odd Warrior, Odd Mage, Odd Rogue and finally a Spell Hunter.

I havent' felt the importance of decision making and timing in a long time, but oh boy snatching those wins against warrior and mage were so frigging awesome! Rogue was the only one I lost to, but I'm digging this!

but the complexity and game length make me want to play 1 match a week instead of 5 matches a day like HS.

This has been axactly the case for me as well. But my gaming itch for a deeper experience has started to tingle again! :)

It irks me that because during the first week of launch the prices for constructed cards were like 40-50 bucks people still feel that the game is "teh most expensive thing in teh world after gold itself". The last time I checked the price for the most expensive card was 10 dollars! And I'm quite certain the prices have dropped even further after that.

I would guess supply is really high with many ppl cashing out from a dying game, while demand is much lower.

Artifact really looked intriguing to me, but its whole economy is weird, and it was lacking incentives to actually play the game. Also no free way to try it out hurt it a lot imo.

Actually just checked the prices and the Most expensive card Axe, is now 5,60€. Not bad. With the majority of cards costing 0,10 I could get a couple of top notch decks quite cheap!

Also regarding the free trial thing, people can try it out for free by playing the free game modes. If you don't open the packs you get in the initial purchase you can claim for a refund. (Or atleast this was the case at launch, and I'm not aware if it has changed)

    posted a message on Artifact

    Hoy!

It's your boy here, one of the biggest doomsayers for Hearthstone and the creator of this topic.

First and foremost I gotta come clean and say I have only played three games of Artifact so far! I'm a bit surprised that my initial hype died even a bit earlier than the actual release and I haven't been sucked into the game more. On the other hand I actually feel that Hearthstone has stepped up it's game by a mile! I mean Blizzard has done the bravest thing they could have done with the previous two expansions by not upping the power level AND now nerfing many oppressive decks. Hearthstone seems to be in the right track again and I love it! :)

Artifact definately has had a rough start but I still hope that people would give it a chance and I sure will play it more and maybe even switch mainly to playing it in the future because it definately caters much more to my needs as a more serious card gamer. I just haven't been able to pour my life and soul to a completely new system just now, but when the stars align I'm ready! :)

I didn't come here just to talk about my own life and bore you to death with that, but I come bearing news. Artifact has had two major updates since launch: first they targeted the community aspect by adding chat and emotes, then yesterday they did the thing most people have been screaming for https://playartifact.com/news/1714081669510213123

They added a progression system and a way to acquire packs and portaits and tickets! To me this wasn't actually a that big of a wish, but for the majority of players this is HUGE! Also they ate their words about never nerfing anything and tackled a few troublesome cards in the same go.

To top things off and because I believe many people already "quit Artifact for good" I can't emphasize enough that the market prices have dropped dramatically since launch. And even if you wouldn't consider paying ANYTHING beyond the initial purchase there is still free phantom draft so you wouldn't have to pay a single penny more to be able to play the game.

Overall I hope Artifact would rise from the ashes and become a viable option at least for the more experienced card gamers. More genuine competition is good for the customers in the end!

Lets say that you "invested" in Druid, crafted Togwaggle deck or Big Beast druid- you now can't play your decks,

Oh, I didn't see the clause where they said you are now unable to play those decks. I should go and search for more information on this subject.
