Would Cenarius or Hadronox work in this deck?
Is Ultimate infestation x2 a must for this deck to be viable, I have all the other cards and currently have enough dust to make Malfurion, I think I could dust a few more to get 1 Ultimate infest. are there any proposed alternates to UI x1
Hello!
I want to try this deck but I have not enough dust to craft Fandral Staghelm. As I understand this deck, he is not essential, but of course powerful. Is there an substitute which could work?
best regards
LJoshi
Work perfect for me, no variants
Rank 5, 5-0 in a row.
This deck is really fun to play 5-0 till now
-2 innervate or keep them in?
Insane deck. And much more variety of plays than boring Jade Druid.
Just replace Tar Creeper with Medivh, the Guardian, and Living Mana with Primordial Drake. Medivh is very important and living mana sucks.
I started on rank 8:1 star and now 6:2 without a single loss with this exact list.
beat a few Jade Druids and shamans and a secret Mage (and whatever else)
the deck seems good...
What do you guys think of the changes he made to the deck?
+ Medivh, the Guardian
+ Primordial Drake
+ Swipe
- Tar Creeper
- Strongshell Scavenger
- Living Mana
I like all of the inclusions. I think Primodrial Drake suits the deck well in all sort of match-ups, particularly with all the ramp present here and 2 copies of Innervate. Medivh, the Guardian also makes sense to me as Deamonlock was the toughest match-up for me with this deck and I think it'd help there as well as when facing off Priest which too was occasionally troublesome. I reckon Swipe is a good choice too, given that I lost a bunch of games to Pirate Warrior and Murloc Paladin. The problem is in these defeats they had an insane draw and I had a really poor one and I feel like these super aggressive decks generally can't be beaten if they draw just right. Essentially what I'm saying is that I'm not sure one Swipe would have been enough to turn these losses into victories even if I drew into it in time.
The problem I have with these changes is that I find some of these cards hard to part with. In the end I had no trouble swapping Living Mana for Primoridal Drake as I found this card to be very rarely of use (admittedly sometimes it was a game changer, just that more often than not it was practically unplayable as in I had better options). I also started off with this deck subbing Tar Creeper with a second copy of Crypt Lord and this card as well as the second copy of Strongshell Scavenger are just hard for me to drop, I got the Crypt Lord to snowball way too often and Strongshell Scavenger always landed as at least 4/5 in stats, while most of the time I believe it amounted to 6/7 or 8/9, not to mention the instances when it was even more than that and practically singlehandedly won me the game.
So what you all think about the changes he made? Has anyone else been playing with this deck? How was your experience?
Personally I prefer the original incarnation of this deck, listed on this page, except for one of those key changes, the Primordial Drake. I find it very valuable against a lot of things and it makes for a nice taunt. Like you said, Living Mana can occasionally be a game changer, but is very situational. Whereas Primordial Drake has proven universally useful and is a nice taunt on top of that.
Meanwhile, Medivh makes sense but at the same time I found playing with the changes that I could not both pop Medivh and stay safe (probably just me playing badly up until that point, or poor card draw, as is the general case). I also do not care for the swipe as it seems moderately weak by comparison to what you're giving up (but again, I don't have much prior experience using it). Particularly I do not wish to sacrifice the Tar Creeper because it's incredibly valuable early game, and I find myself using the second Strongshell Scavenger quite often as well. Thus, although the changes are good in some ways, they are not as great in others, for me.
That said, he's the professional, and I hover around 13-14. But I am merely stating my opinion and what I've thoroughly enjoyed playing with. And never before had I pushed past rank 18-17 (often getting there then falling all the way back to 20 because lack of cards and being bad or simply not understanding what I'm playing) so I am most happy with the results. Likewise, it's something of a different flavor of Druid to play besides the usual Jade or such. It's, to my newbie hands, a unique deck that is a lot of fun and really powerful if played well. I don't know whether it's Legend-laddering-powerful (maybe it is, in the right hands?), but if I played enough I could easily see rank 10 or less in my future with it, based on current experiences at rank 15-14 this season (Sept.) (which is all I had time to get down to so far but intend to push for 10, but made it down to 15 with only 1 loss and ended on a nice solid win streak all the way from 17-15 after the said loss).
To boot, it's relatively affordable to craft as well, although I got lucky and already had a good portion of the cards. Think I spent 3K dust or so at the time of crafting, which was last season. Have played with it a lot, love it all around. Also made me follow Kolento on Twitch/Youtube which has been fun. Guy's good, and fun to watch.
Thanks for a thoughtful reply, it was interesting to read about your experience with the deck. I've also very much enjoyed playing it. Tbph seeing this deck in action made me wanna play Hearthstone again. Good luck this season! I'm sure you can push to 10 or even past that. I got to rank 10 (all the way from 25) with this deck last season having only 2 evenings to play on.
Btw, just so that you know, I ended up removing 2 copies of Wrath and Living Mana to fit that Swipe, Medivh, the Guardian and Primordial Drake in. Also, since the start, I've been running a second Crypt Lord instead of Tar Creeper. It feels great with these changes, I was initially afraid of missing Wrath, but it's been manageable and Primordial Drake has been nothing short of great. Swipe is useful only occasionally, but still more often than Living Mana. Haven't had any crazy turn 6 Medivh, the Guardian into turn 7 Ultimate Infestation plays, but still, this addition proved match-winning on quite a few occasions. I'm also very happy about running 2 copies of Crypt Lord as that card has spiraled out of control in a number of my matches and it greatly benefits from various buffs that this deck is running.
Most cards in this list make perfect sense to me, however I'm unsure about 3 choices and I'm wondering whether I might want to replace them before crafting the deck. I'd love to get your opinion on that.
The cards I'm considering to remove:
- Tar Creeper My concern: it's a 3-drop and this deck is short on those, also it's a taunt.
- Crazed Alchemist My concern: Doomsayers. How often do you run into them?
- Crypt Lord My concern: I don't see it getting buffed enough too often and thus not sure, if it's worth it. On another hand it's a taunt.
The cards I'm considering to add:
+ Cobalt Scalebane Rationale: Almost guaranteed 8/5 worth of stats in the case of this deck with a potential for more.
+ Black Knight Rationale: From what I've heard about the current meta it seems like there are many juicy targets for this card. Also, it seems to be included in a lot of decks.
+ Skulking Geist Rationale: From what I've heard Jade Druid is quite prevalent and this card seems to be mentioned most often as a counter. In a match up vs Jade Druid I'd be willing to sacrifice my Mark of the Lotus, however it is my concern that in some match-ups it could be pretty much a dead card as I'd find it not worth playing given that I'd have to discard the spells.
+ Lich King Rationale: Given the sheer strength of this card, the amount of ramp in this deck and the fact that it has taunt it seems like a very reasonable choice.
+ Swipe Rationale: this deck lacks board clear and swipe is always great.
+ Eater of Secrets: Seems like Exodia Mage is one of the toughest match-ups for this deck and this has card has been mentioned as the best counter all over the place. The question is - how often am I going to run into Exodia Mage?
Just as a reference I'll be climbing all the way from rank 25 and am looking to make it as far as time permits this month and the next. I haven't played in about a year, but this deck got me excited to jump back in.
Hey guys! I tried this deck as well and I have to say I had the most fun with this one so far.
First matchup was versus aggro/ token shaman which is something we are looking for I guess.. and I just... well, see for your self :D Definitely worth to try :)
I don't know how you guys feel about it, but I keep losing.
Maybe I suck ... and its my fault.
But it feels slow, am getting over-runed by aggro decks
I just built this deck. I went 5-6 with it at rank 5. I've had a couple games already where the 2nd UI is either a dead card or will cause me to draw in fatigue.
Does anyone have a mulligan guide? I'm assuming I should try ramping up asap.
This happens just because you unlucky. Thats all (same thing to me).
N.B. If you will use 1 copy of Ultimate Infestetion, you will never see it to turn 20 at least, or it will be drawn while your opponent shows extremely bad manners with spamming emotions.
Any replacement for Fandral?
Not actually a replacement, but I can think of Elize the Trailblazer being useful if you are run of resources. Second Crypt Lord seems also possible, but there is already enough low-attack minions. Wrath also seem a poor choice in quantity of one and without Fandral. Anyway, when talking about druid, there's always Swipe. And swipe is never a bad choice.
