This deck has caused a sudden meta shift and after testing it out for several hours myself, it works amazing on ladder.
Its like all your basic aggro rush decks, just yolo all to the face and your opponent ends up dieing somehow.
This deck has a very weird feel to it at the beginning, i felt like i was losing during the entire match then you pull out like a frost bolt/ice lance/ice lance/fireball and GG.
Combos: the combos are fairly basic
Knife Juggler + Mirror Image/ 1 cost minions
Sorcerer's Apprentice+ Mana Wyrm + all spells
Mulligans: the dream hand would be Knife Juggler Mirror Image Mana Wyrm and draw into a Sorcerer's Apprentice as you can gain immense value and take control of the game very quickly. you always throw back Water Elemental, Azure Drake, Arcane Intellect and Bloodmage Thalnos.
NO Leeroy Jenkins??? WHAT ?: in a mage aggro deck, Leeroy Jenkins is only a Fireball that cant go through taunts, which are usualy up when you do your frost bolt/icelance/fireball KO combo. so it just sits in your hand and never gets used.
Why not Arcane Golem or Coldlight Oracle?: the goal of this deck is to burn your opponents health as fast as possible, and often your first 10-15 damage will come from direct hits from Wolfrider, Loot Hoarder Knife Juggler, etc. if you Arcane Golem your doing 1 extra damage compared to a Wolfrider and speeding up their taunts by 1 turn, effectively lowering your damage by 6 in the case of druid. Coldlight Oracle draws you 2 cards, but it also spoon feeds your opponent answers to your board. you go to search for that Knife Juggler or Frostboltand you give that druid 2 Swipe. also vs zoo giving him 2 cards is basically healing him for 4 and giving him 4 mana.
You Dont have Bloodmage Thalnos?: you can sub him out for 1 of 3 things, Novice Engineer, a second Elven Archer, or a Kobold Geomancer. i feel like the best sub is the Elven Archer, as its utitily is very usefull in this deck. a Novice Engineer is just for more card draw which is essential for the burst combo. so whichever you feel is better
VS zoo and hunter?: it is a roughly estimated 70-80% win rate vs the popular zoo and a 50-60% vs mid-range (kolento/lifecoach) hunters
what does this deck lose to?: control warrior will ruin your day, its literally a 90/10 in favor for the warrior. watcher druid, and control priest can cause issues the win/loss rate is about 65/35. you have a chance to win but its fairly unlikely.
CHANGES: -1 Argent Squire +1 Elven Archer: an early argent squire sticks around and is pretty effective, but if you topdeck one mid or lategame its useless. an elven archer is usefull no matter when you draw it, acting as an extra hero power to get rid of that 6/2 fire elemental or to get that last 1 damage off to finish the match
personal changes: -1 wolf rider +1Millhouse Manastorm
i know what your thinking, theres no way millhouse can be good in a deck. but after playing with this change personally ive noticed an increase in win rate. no one is going to keep strong spells in their opening hand and coining out a millhouse can pose a huge threat. remember that you only need to lower their health below 20 and their dead to spells afterwards
Are you having trouble against this deck? here is a decklist that will win almost 100% of the time vs the aggro mage: Warrior control (anti-aggro)
Can you add in a Nat Pagle instead of something?
Also, can you replace Bloodmage Thalnos with Kobold Geomancer ?
Won 9/10 in ranked. Love this deck. Don't have [card]Bloodmage Thalnos[/card]. Using 1 Elven Archer in its place.
Put Flamestrike and Pyroblast in replacing an Elven Archer and a Wolf Rider.
Replaced Loot Hoarder's for Novice Engineer's.
Lost nine out of nine with this deck. If you haven't won by turn five, this deck is a guaranteed loss.
How do you know that if you have never won with it??
I won in turn 18 man
YOU dont know how to play
Yet another RNG based deck.. speaking for someone who rarely gets the help from RNGesus.. yet again another misleading deck. Please stop infecting hearthpwn with inconsistent decks.
Every deck has some sort of RNG aspect to them. This deck is great once you make two changes to it. Replace one WOLF RIDER with PYROBLAST and remove ELVIN ARCHER for FLAMESTRIKE. Trust me these changes got me 500 wins with the Mage. PREIST and especially WARRIORS are the hardest matches. Deal 10 damage physically to the opponent and then go face with spells. I usually use one sometimes 2 FROSTBOLTS for removal of early minions If I know I can still hit their hero with the WATER ELEMENTAL and combo it with ICE LANCE. Plus If I have MANA WYRM in place that's just a plus.
Just use this deck dude, you will never go back
http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/94257-magecontrolsuprise You wont be complaining about RNG with this deck. Stop the excuses, time to play a real mans deck -my magecontrolsuprise.^
Well I just played 6 games to complete a Mage Dominance quest and won them all.
The closest win was a hunter than had lethal next turn but ignored my Sorcerer's Apprentice and Mana Wyrm. On turn 6 or 7(can't exactly remember) he ate 2 frostbolts, I arcane intellect'd into 2 Mirror Images, and after playing those my Wyrm was a 7/3 and that along with the Apprentice did the last 10 damage to win.
This deck is awesome when RNGesus is watching over you.
Fun but due to inconsistency fails to get enough damage through in the early game and establish board presence.
I'd rather play aggro Warlock which can consistently win on turn 6 and can get away with very aggressive plays such as King Mukla followed by Soulfire to quickly establish the board advantage.
http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/94257-magecontrolsuprise this mage deck does well against all hero's especially priest and warrior. I spent ALOT of months on this deck, it is flawless. This is a post-naxx deck, swapped out a counterspell for a duplicate. Duplicate is a great card.
The funnest deck you will ever play is my warlock: http://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/94254-demoncontragro, and it is powerful. It takes a smart mind to make some big choices while playing this deck.
would like to know too, pls respond! :)
Add 2 mad scientist and 2 anti magic , save u from Aoe spells. This changes make it more stronger. I add Millhouse to and ETC fore more fun =)
Have all cards cept bloodmage...used kobold instead. With that said, had mediocre success. I don't find the deck that good. Added a pyroblast and ragnarok (removed elven archer + one arcane missles).
With that being said, this deck totally wrecks handlock. I killed one on turn 5, but RNG had a part of it. He played ancient watcher and twilight drake, and I spammed my board with sorc apprentice, leper, and loot hoarder, used mirror image so drake cant kill anything, then last turn did fireball + frostbolt + ice lance + coin + ping for win.
Against other players, I had 50/50 results. Aggro warlock shit all over me, no aoe clear. Might be good to add a blizzard or something, since flamestrike takes too long.
Very outdated in current meta
here´s the truth, this deck depends a lot on ur draw and on ur oponent ability to control the swarm early on.
swipe, consecration, even arcane explosion will cripple u fast, and with this deck recobering from that is almost impossible, if u didnt do enought dmg to kill him with a few well placed spells u loose the late game.
here´s another fact, this deck is crazy fun, and crazy fast, most games ull know if ur winning or loosing by the 5º or 6º turn, + is super cheap, it takes only 2 blue cards, and lets face it, only 1 in 2 or 3 games every 10 ull be using the drakes.
so to sum it up, if u want a consistent deck to get to rank 10+ then look elsewhere, if u want to win matches fast and do it having fun this one is for u.
im took this deck to 12 from 20 in 6 hrs, with matches lasting less than 5 mins, either cause my opponent surrendered unable to counter the rush, or i did, because he could,
About to try this deck, the fanatiks strategy aggro deck did not work for me. ended up 6-5, win one lose one win one lose one. Just a bad deck at rank fricken 16.
1-0
1st game won against a warlock who did a lot of dmg to himself lol.
2nd game priest. Lost. Feel like this is another 50/50 win lose shit and im only rank 16. My murloc deck did better for me at fricken rank 13 than any of these decks. No aoe removal is just bad. You can't win against over half the decks with no fricken aoe removal. and no control! I don't get why people praise this shit as amazing and gets me this rank, it does crap tbh. With half the decks people put on here. I just want a deck thats better than a murloc deck that is a mage, and I honestly can't find it and it's pretty infuriating.
useless wolfrider, useless knife juggler, azure drake + water elemental too much cost. any zoo deck >>> this mage
Loving this deck didn't have a [card]Bloodmage Thalnos[/card] when with the Elven Archer. have like a 90% win
its fun deck :D, still sticking around 15 - 13 but i only lose from high control deck like warrior and priest with lot of draw card, still tweaking around Wolf rider and elven archer or armani berserk work pretty much on me
Great Deck btw :D
