Originally inspired by a deck I saw Forsen playing the other week, this deck was a large factor in helping me get to legend for the first time - a goal that I had really been struggling with for months.
The deck makes use of the standard mech cards, in addition to Mana Wyrm and Unstable Portal which are just great Mage cards that help the deck often snowball out of control, more or less deciding the game by turn 4 or 5.
Another useful card that was recently released in LoE is the Gorillabot A-3, which I found really helpful at adjusting the deck to work well in different matchups. Discovering a Sneed's Old Shredder or a Piloted Sky Golem against a control deck could really swing things into my favour, while a Snowchugger or Annoy-o-Tron could buy me a few more turns vs face decks.
I feel this deck has the potential to contest almost any deck popular in the meta right now. From experience it seemed to do particularly well against all types of druid, while struggling a little bit against aggro shaman if I didn't get a good mulligan. More importantly, the deck does not fare too poorly vs secret paladin, which I feel like I come up against nearly every game. Sometimes I would keep Frostbolt in my opening hand if I didn't have another 2 drop so as to deal with a Secretkeeper or Knife Juggler and not get too far behind on board.
[EDIT] Added Piloted Sky Golem as a replacement for Archmage Antonidas, as it is probably more suited to the current meta, and is also not reliant on having spells to cast.
[EDIT 2] Getting over 40,000 views is insane, and far more than I ever expected on my first deck upload. I'm very thankful to everyone who upvoted or commented on the deck. I hope you all have fun climbing with the deck, and thanks again <3
I don't have Piloted Sky Golem or Archmage Antonidas but i can dust some legendaries ( i have 800 dust atm and 2 legendaries that i can dust) should i make Piloted Sky Golem or Archmage Antonidas
Yeah i am F2P (but friend bough me whole LOE as a gift :) ) i want to play tempo but i don't black rock etc i think i will get Piloted Sky Golem hope i will be good with this deck :)
Edit:What you thing about writing short guide ?
What rank do I get playing this deck in 22 season ?
It could bring you as high as legend if played perfectly. Most likely these kinds of deck tap out around rank 4-5 its a mid tier deck. https://tempostorm.com/hearthstone/meta-snapshot/meta-snapshot-43-welcome-back
I switched Piloted Sky Golem for Archmage Antonidas and it works great! Especially vs RenoLock. I'm loving Gorillabot A-3!
Hi,
I played the deck last season with some adjustments.
+Archmage Antonidas + Jeeves for -Loatheb -Piloted Sky Golem
Some ladder games: Gameplay Mech Mage
yes, and it forces most decks to deal with jeeves first which will of course benefit you also (plus you already get the free cards). Versus other aggro decks it depends on the situation sometimes it`s better not to play him in this matchup.
Used about a hour from rank 12 to 7 with this deck, most wins was at like turn 5 or 6! With a serious group of minions only at turn 3
Nice deck dude! :) 1 question :O substitute for boom and loatheb ? i dont have any golden cards u.u
thx dude! :) u made my day :3
I have enjoyed mech mage...and just mech decks...since GvG. This deck is basically like the one I run currently...I use two Clockwork Knights instead of Loatheb...and it works out pretty well. Great deck.
I can never ever beat Secrets Paladin. Every other class I come against has been pretty comfortable I gotta say.
Hi! I'm a relatively new player who doesn't have access to the League of Explorers, and therefore the Gorillabot A-3. What would be a suitable replacement?
Great deck I have to say. At first I though that it would be inconsistent without any card draw like Arcane Intellect but when you have cards like Gorillabot do the same. I have 3 consecutive wints with this deck, still haven't drawn Clockwork Gnome so I cannot say if he is good or bad. However I play with Antonidas instead of Piloted Sky Golem as most of the times it comes from the Gorilla. Works great for me. I wanted to ask you if you should put an Arcane Intellect what would you change for it ? I have some doubts but will keep playing with it. Will upload a clip in the following days :)
Yo yo, dudes, made a video about this deck. Check it out, leave some feedback, and try out the deck.Mech mages are pretty nice in the current meta, they are not that expensive too, and the cool thing is that they don't require too many adventure cards, so they are good for new players too.
Haha, thanks dude. The deck is pretty nice, it deserves it.
Cool!
Piloted Sky Golem replacement?
I don't understand the inclusion of [card]Archmage Antonidas [/card].
It can't be a finisher since there are only 6 spells in the deck -- 7 including the spare part, and only 5 of which can be played alongside Archmage. Thus, the max value from the Archmage is 5 extra fireballs and forcing removal spell from your opponent. Considering that these fireballs have to be played out over 3 turns, its value is too slow for the aggro-reno meta, so the value isn't great. Additionally, you won't be able to reliably get good value out of it, since you'll want to throw a frost bolt at a 2-4 drop and the archmage can't be expected to live past a turn.
Sneed's Old Shredder, or even Mimirion's Head, seems like a much more consistent finisher. Mimirion, of course, is an inconsistent play as well, since it demands a removal and is relatively easy to remove.
Am I wrong?
Piloted Sky Golem seems too slow to me in this meta too. Sure, if you are winning and manage to play him that nearly seals the game, but it failed me too much. So I swapped this for Loatheb
Not even think about Sneed's Old Shredder I'm scared to even discover him, I wouldn't unless the game really extended a lot.
1 Fireball --> 1 Forgotten Torch
(Having good removal for pesky minions like Darnassus Aspirant or Knife Juggler plus cheaper burn later its something I can't just replace).
Archmage Antonidas > The Black Knight
(Meta targets: Druid of the claw (ancient of war rarely seems play), Sludge Belchers, Feral Spirits, Tirion, Coghammer, Argus).
I brought back from the forgotten cards The Black Knight to replace Archmage Antonidas, because with so few spells you aren't likely to win with him (even if you throw it just for tempo, you might lose on the spot).
For all the games I played on this meta, I always got a good tempo target (Mostly paladins and druids).
Also add the fact that the Taunt Spare Part its pretty much useless as Mech Mage (you always control the board), however combined with TBK makes a beast hard removal.
just my 2 cents
