Hey Guys! This is my first time building a deck on here and I thought I'd share a fun and not overly expensive deck concept I have been using with some success in ranked play.
The overall theme of this deck is to swarm the field with inexpensive minions. The moment they lax in their control of the field and leave you with more than 4 minions, drop a Bloodlust for an automatic 20 damage.
Card Choice:
Let's start with some of the more important card choices in the deck.
Bloodlust is, in my opinion, one of the best finisher cards in the game. Used in combination with cards that swarm the field with low value minions, it can leave your opponent with few options but to constantly clear your board. This allows you to constantly go for the face and let them throw themselves against your creatures.
Imp Master is an easy 3rd turn drop. If left unchecked, you'll have an entire field of imps to throw your Bloodlust down on.
Violet Teacher actually has some value built into the card with her 3/5 stats. She also makes good use of the deck's slightly above average number of spells. The only thing is that her disciples cannot attack the turn they are summoned. This means your oponent has a turn to clear them before you can kill them with Bloodlust.
Now here are some of the more debatable choices. I'm very open to criticism and would love to hear anything you guys think would improve this deck.
Feral Spirit, Razorfen Hunter, and Dragonling Mechanic are some more options to swarm the field early. The wolves from Feral Spirit can also serve to protect some of your more fragile tokens.
Earth Shock, Lightning Bolt, Hex, and Lava Burst are generically good cards to handle some of your opponent's bigger drops. Lava Burst can also serve as some extra damage to finish if your Bloodlust combo doesn't do the job. Always trade these spells over minions you already have on the field to avoid delaying your Bloodlust finish.
Rockbiter Weapon and Flametongue Totem are both great buff cards to give your cheap minions more value before you are ready to use Bloodlust. Rockbiter Weapon can serve a similar purpose to Lava Burst by either adding the last bit of damage you need to win or enabling one of your little minions to trade for something bigger.
Loot Hoarder and Mana Tide Totem are well used in a deck that relies on playing so many cards. They give this deck some much needed card draw. Only play Mana Tide Totem when you think it can survive your opponent's next turn or when you know your opponent will destroy it regardless of when it is played.
Fire Elemental, Illidan Stormrage, and Al'Akir the Windlord are all cards that add to your late game should you ever get there. Illidan Stormrage is essentially a superior Violet Teacher. Al'Akir the Windlord, however, is an amazing finisher in his own right. Using him with double Rockbiter Weapon is a guaranteed 18 damage.
I hope you have enjoyed my first deck that I have ever built on this site. Lava Burst and Loot Hoarder are two cards I am not entirely certain about. If anyone has an idea for a replacement to these cards I would love to hear it!!!
Your deck has been featured in the Shaman Information Hub under "Decklists". Congrats!
I've done something similar but with druid, where you have the Savage Roar card, here you can even combo it with fon if you're unable to keep up with their board wipes. So why shaman and not druid?
Hm....this deck is very curious to me. Some how I just Jeffery Dahmer'd a typical control warrior. wasted all his removal early on due to flooding of the board. near the end he was top decking. then pulled off double imp master/healing totem/totemic might combo, nearly infinite loop of summons. the bloodlust/windfuried. dude coulda had 30 health and 20 armor still woulda got OTK'd
Shaman's weakness is hunter rush and this deck just seems like it would get wrecked even more with the tokens it's generating for UTH.
Made a couple changes, seems like it was lacking something if the game went to mid game.
let me know what you think.
try Onyxia, after a mage wipe my board -> next turn board full again haha
Nice deck!
Thanks for the advice, I'll try it out :)
I think replacing lava burst for another hex is a good idea because lava burst does not always do the deed where as hex always gets it done. Also replace the lightning bolts for lightning storm imo because of the board clear it provides for other aggro champs like hunters for instance.
I don't have Illidan, but I have Leeroy Jenkins. That's good enough.
I personally would not recommend Windspeaker in this deck. His Battlecry doesn't lend itself well to it on account of all of the low attack minions this deck includes. As for the Doomhammer the reason I don't use it is that Bloodlust cannot increase your hero's attack and using a Windfury weapon just ends in you taking too much damage. Earth Elemental Is too high cost of a minion and makes it hard to use Bloodlust as soon as the opportunity for a finish arises considering it drains your mana for two turns rather than one.
I'm not sure if there are many things to replace Violet Teacher. There aren't many cards that can swarm that field as effectively when you use it in combination with your low cost spells.
Thank you Skippa! I appreciate your response and thank you for the mention of the Knife Juggler. I will try it out as I continue to play this deck :)
Took this advice, running the knife jugglers. Works really great at getting 2 or 3 damage with all of the easy summon the deck has.
