Hi guys, I am INDIGO from Greece, I have been playing Hearthstone since beta and have been legend many times, last season i finished rank 1 legend with this Control warrior list.
Proof:
Good Matchups: Face Hunter,Freeze Mage,Patron Warrior,Oil Rogue,
Bad Matchups: Combo Druid,Midrange Paladin,Midrange Hunter,Shaman
The rest matchups are pretty close to 50-50, for example both zoo and handlock are pretty close because i use double Brawl.
Why double Brawl?
I put a second Brawl in my deck mostly for the patron warrior match up. The last days of season most of high rank legend players was playing patron warrior so i wanted to counter them.Double brawl is also really usefull against both type of warlock decks and paladin/shaman.
Mulligan:
You usually mulligan for weapons(both Fiery War Axe and Death's Bite ) and early game creatures ( Armosmith, Acolyte of Pain and Cruel Taskmaster )
How does +1 Abomination yield +2 Abomination if it was never in the deck? Abom is a bad control card because it deals 2 damage to same team, the only damage you want to cause your own cards is +1. That can trigger Grom and also gets you a card from Acolyte.
Its used as a board clear against zoo or heavy aggro decks, its an earlier one use baron geddon that wont get BGH'd and saves you 2 Damage. Control Warrior can suffer to take face damage more so than the opponent. Baron geddon does 2 damage to you each turn anyways. Control Warrior never has to many things on the field and and can afford to have an early taunt. turn 2 Fiery Win Axe turn 4 Abomination will slow down any aggro.
I dont have Ysera, Alextrasza, Grom, Harison, or Sylvannas. What are some subs for them.
if you think that's funny I once saw, on a Patron Decklist(one of the first) someone asked "what to replace Patron with?"
yep.
I've been playing Control Warrior for months and have stuck with the same cards for most of it. I personally find Harrison never give me full value and have replaced it with Ragnaros. I've also replaced a Cruel Taskmaster for a Whirlwind for great success. They work really well with how I like to save my two Armorsmiths for late game, playing them both when I have at least two other minions out, Death Bite's deathrattle and a whirlwind for a good 16+ armor.
This might be greedy, but i havnt seen much warrior cancer(patron) on the ladder, so +Loatheb - Harrison. Kills Malygos lock as well
Nefarian > Ysera (i think)
can't agree. Nefarian has a lot of rng involved in his battlecry that may cost u the game, while with ysera u are putting a thread with a bigger body, better draws from his effect and cannot be removed with bgh. But I guess those are personal preferences.
No, the reasons you put is why Ysera is better. I'm guessing he doesn't own Ysera (like me) and is trying to justify why he uses him.
i got ysera but nefarian more useful for me
If the reasons I put are why ysera is better, this means in this deck ysera is better xD If u don't own ysera is probably the best replacement, but not better than her.
I've got the beast in my sights.
Control warrior with a couple of changes that make it weaker than the traditional deck.
I cut Emperor Thaurissan and put in an Ironbeak Owl. Owl was used far more often than Thaurissan, in my experience.
Its the exact same deck ive been using for a couple months but i run Ragnaros instead of Ysera, the double brawl helps lure the opponent into overplaying his hand quite often which helps. Id still normally prefer Baron Geddon over double Brawl but since everyone runs BGH even Ragnaros is Sketchy i tend to hold him right till the end after i see BGH played.
I will only note that Ragnaros completely destroys Tempo Mage and Hunter usually and since the ladder just reset you might run into a lot of that so he might be better since they rarely run BGH, but Ysera is still a solid option.
Think of Emperor as a 5/5 that terrifies the enemy, they will often waste removal on him and he can still make many combinations of cards easier to play together. Even over say 6 turns you might be able to get 4 extra Armor Up's in, which in the aggro meta can destroy any chance they have of bursting you out and can help with future shield slams.
The only alternate would most likely be loatheb i guess, since you don't need more late game.
You say emperor is too slow yet you want to sub it for sneeds, a much much slower card. Nice.
I think Sneed may not be the way to go because he costs so much and doesn't get his ability off. I used to love his combo with Kel but you rarely get it off even in control warrior.
Landing an emperor early on also makes people think you're GP and play badly.
